    I play a Getzen 3050 and its perfect for any application, I've never owned a horn that could be used for any setting, especially on the big Schilke 18 that I play for everything.

      The 3050 is a nice horn. Awesome to find a horn that you love! I used this 900 SEV for everything from high school, through college, and after in musicals, church praise music and more. Getzen makes excellent products!

    I have first dibs on a early 70's Severinsen w/ a first slide trigger. A few years older than exactly what I played in HS! Looks great and a pro player in the Ukraine 🇺🇦 is selling it! Help him out and get a great horn. Win-win... 🎺👍

      William. Are you still looking for a Getson Severinsen with a first slide trigger?. I have one that will be up for sale in a week or so. I am dropping it off at a shop for new felts and cork and a total check-up. It is very clean. Mark

    I've had mine since 1971 and I love it a whole lot. I would highly recommend this instrument to any serious trumpet player.

    I always thought it was the perfect 'all-around' horn. You could use it in any application ... it just doesn't have the reputation of being playing in orchestra, etc. Like anything, put in a lead mouthpiece and it would be sizzling & bright. Deep cup would make it warm and fat. Great horn! I just picked up a Getzen Genesis and feel like it is the modern Sev in a slightly bigger bore = another perfect horn!

    I usually play C trumpet but when I need to use a Bb trumpet I go back to my 1978 Eterna. It still plays great IF I use a modern mouthpiece like a System Blue.

    I have this exact same trumpet and will never sell it! Purchased for $410 in 1973. 👍

    Where did you purchase this horn? It sounds amazing, exactly what I'm looking for!

      I just bought one today. It has a 1st slide lever trigger Ca 1970. Are you still looking? They have another. It's a Getzen Eterna "Severinsen" Model Trumpet; Ca 1977 which was re-plated, refurbished and has a gold wash inside the bell. It is beautiful but I didn't buy it because in a High School band the gold could be distracting. It cost only $200 more than I paid.

    Hey you've got a very pleasant tone, super satisfying to listen to, and I notice your not trying to cover up or hide your true tone by filming from the side like most people.

      Thanks for viewing and commenting. I appreciate it! I was using a flipcam for the video at that time, and the mic worked better than that on my iPhone = so I didn’t need to turn sideways to reduce distortion.

    I LOVE the Eterna series. I bought mine from craigslist. Turns out the trumpet was a prototype...last of its kind. It works perfectly even though it was from the 1970s

      iMovie Jingle called '44th Street' ... funny how many iMovie music clips get used in current commercials and TV shows ... there are some nice riffs available! ;-)

      Thanks Blaine. Someone else is using that tune . He said it was "Jam Pack from Macintosh Songs for Videos". I couldn't find it but maybe something was lost in the translation, all other comments and replies were in another language.

    Yeah when you say there aren’t any dents but there is a completely noticeably dent right on the bell...

      Llama Guy I discussed the bell seam line and the ping next to the 2nd valve. Wasn’t hiding anything. This was posted and sold 9 years ago ... so you’re kinda late to the party.

      Don't actually see it now (but it appeared in notifications) about the valves and you asking if 'I'd stated that the valves can feel sticky' ... (perhaps you deleted that now). Absolutely not. I never had valve issues (see 4:30) and yes, Getzen valves are known for being super fast. As stated in video, I only oiled them about once a month just to keep them at top speed. I can't remember ever having a sticking problem with them.

    Mine has a thumb adjuster on the first valve slide also, do you know if that means it's a later model by any chance?

    • @blainekelley816
      @blainekelley816  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thumb trigger or saddle was just an available option... Not a different model.

      blaine kelley Thanks for the info, so if it is a mid to late 70's horn it would be the same bore size also?

    • @blainekelley816
      @blainekelley816  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      David H most were made ML .460 bore. the 2nd valve, just below the serial number would have a 'L' stamped if large bore .462

  • @allyoop8879
    @allyoop8879 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    If the bell just says "Eterna by Getzen" what model would it be? Serial # SK34631 if that will help.

    • @blainekelley816
      @blainekelley816  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ally Oop depends on the serial number. Call Mary Rima at Getzen with the serial number and she'll let you know if it is a 900 or 700. The SEV was always a 900. Doc ultimately ceased promoting Getzen, so his name was removed but they kept making the 900. Years later brought out the 700, and in the last few years re-introduced the 900. Either 900 or 700 = nice trumpets! With that serial number, I'm thinking it is a 900, but that is just a guess.

    • @allyoop8879
      @allyoop8879 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Blaine. The seller listed it as a 900 on Ebay for $800 but I had bad vibes just looking at the pictures. Some looked like they swiped them from another site. Different resolutions and brightness, etc. so I bought a beautiful restored Getzen Eterna Sev Model ca 1970 today from a restorer with a 100% positive feedback. He does wonderful restorations and re-plating. Mine is original finish and still looks perfect. It will be delivered tomorrow, 1 day delivery by FedEx. My granddaughter will be thrilled.

      Ally Oop sounds like a good choice. Congrats and enjoy. The SEV is a great all-around trumpet, so I think you will be highly pleased!

    • @allyoop8879
      @allyoop8879 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it arrived today and it is beautiful. Original finish that looks like new. Wow, the case is heavy and in excellent condition. No sign of wear on the outside but, although the latches work fine, they do show signs of age when up close. Inside is enough room for 2 mutes and a change of clothes. In the accessories packet is the nylon strip that I see on the 3rd slide of your trumpet. What is that for? I wish I knew how to play trumpet - or any instrument for that matter. Oh, the seller has a true 100% positive feedback and has another one ca 1977 that he refurbished and re-plated plus it has gold wash in the bell. Only $200 more than what I paid but I felt that it would be a distraction within the band and a source of envy. She would be the only kid in school with a horn like that and who knows what the reaction would be. An adult could laugh it off but not a 15 year old. Anyway her Yamaha Advantage student horn will replace the Chinese Etude 100 in Marching Band. That thing wore out in 1 year, or less.

    These were awfully good axes and one in this condition should still be. Played a Getzen Eterna cornet in symphonic band in college and I loved that horn. Cornet sound, best valves ever, and that compares to my Benge and Schilke's I have played. Well, really Getzen valves are just the best.
