I have posted 2 videos of my first video from the SENA Momentum Pro video helmet. This version is the video direct from the helmet to my phone and I trimmed off the elements not desired. The other video shows this video after been edited in iMovie. I want to see if the videos get compressed or not ... so this is just a quick demo for me to view. Taking the video is easy. Your note articulation is insanely clean! Love your playing man!
Beautifully played. Lovely horn. ❤
Thx for viewing + your comment. Much appreciated!
Great sound! I really enjoyed your playing too, Blaine! I have the horn.
THX for viewing and commenting. Much appreciated!
I didn't see the Yamaha 14B4 on here which minute mark is it at
I didn’t play it as much as the other 2, but it is at 3:24, 4:06, and 5:00.
can you tell me exact spec? looks like gold plate.
Thx for viewing and your reply. It is a scratched gold finish. Schagerl LU5A is Gileno Santana’s model. They stopped making them last year, as it was quite costly. Mine is a large .465 bore. They also offered it in ML bore. Bell is detachable. Bell is also thicker like a rotary bell. It is my go-to for most playing sessions. The more I play it, the more I like it.
Search youtube for gileno santana schagerl LU5A for his introduction video with this trumpet.
@@blainekelley816 thank you !!! your sound amazing
Hi Blaine I have the Hudson competition coupe. Let's talk again some time
Had one exactly like this Shelby
Lovely instrument❤
Thanks for watching and commenting. It is a beautiful trumpet.
Literally top tier dream car. Had trouble finding one of these but I've got an 82 rampage so close enough lmfao bought it running and driving for $400 in '16/17
Where did you find the music for this? I remember doing this song in high school band in 1985, but now I can't find the music for trumpet anywhere. All the music I find is for piano.
Hi Thomas. I just have the song in my head … No music used. David Meece is the author. Musicnotes . Com has a basic version I found on a google search just now…
@@blainekelley816thanks for the reply. I play by ear too. I've played this song recently by memory from playing it in highschool in 1985. A lot of times I like to have the music to double check what I'm playing. It's not always necessary. All of the music I've found online is for piano. Trumpet music is in B flat key, so I would have to transpose it or it would be slightly off. I wish I still had my music from highschool. I admire your playing whether with music or not. I have a niece and nephew that have been in the highschool band every year of highschool. They have a jazz concert every year. I went to the concert the last two years. This year they played Chuck Mangione's "Fell So Good". That was one of my favorite songs as a teenager. I was actually inspired to get my trumpet out and start playing it again after 36 years. I've played it a few times over the years, but not much. I've been playing Feels So Good by ear. Even though I've played it a few times in the last 36 years, I actually just polished it for the first time since highschool.
Sounds sweet!
Donde puedo comprarlo y como se llama ese escape
Megan Racing is the brand. You’ll want to do a Google search to find who is currently selling it.
An oldie, but a goodie! The Outlaws!!
Fantastic music !!
Hello! Is the instrument lacquered? If not how will you clean it on the outside?
This one is silver plated. I use silver cleaner when needed. They also make a lacquered finish in this model.
I usually play C trumpet but when I need to use a Bb trumpet I go back to my 1978 Eterna. It still plays great IF I use a modern mouthpiece like a System Blue.
I like it!!!
THX, Joan. I really thought it would be more like a toy, but it is far better than any plastic trumpet I've played and is a great solution for travel or unique situations when I can't take a standard trumpet along. My 5-year old granddaughter likes to play it too = it is much easier to hold than a standard trumpet.
Stephanie is like, "Oh this looks like fun. Lets go for a spin!". Then the rain rolls in and she is like, "Oh yea uh I will be in the car". LOL!
She did endure 15 minutes or so in the monsoon … but at a long traffic light she scrambled back to the car. 😅
Lol, i was just thinking about doing something like this. What's your top speed?
Slow! 35-ish … it is a 150 cc motor
Yes, yes it is. Fohrukl klugrut zartufjidant. Eniwawa kikadawa zroomzroom. 🤔
Loving the tone, the trumpet, and the tunes. Nice review. Great hymns
Thanks for viewing and commenting. Do you have a pocket trumpet?
Good you liked the hymns = my favs! 🙌🏼
That is such a great video, Blaine!
Thx, Jon! You made it special by being there ‘live’ and letting me use your Puje!!
After an 18-month mouthpiece safari, I'm back on a 14B4 as an all-around piece. A lot of "bang for the buck."
I get it. And, the 14B4 is a great choice that I think world be a solid ‘fit’ for many players. I understand why sooner just use 1 mp and never change, while I’m okay with playing on and trying different ones. My teeth movement is the reason I have changed more than any other reason… and the Spiri I am playing now is similar to a 3B it 14c4 … but I like the rim and bite better than the Bach or Yamaha rims… but, that may change 😉
@@blainekelley816 You do sound good on that Spiri.
A10 all the way for me... But I''m a trombone and flugel player...
Thanks for listening and your reply! I appreciate the feedback!
流木だね。
I have one of these in the same condition as the one you are playing. I like the valve action of the horn and it blows very comfortably. I am a novice and cannot begin to do what you are doing in this video. I am looking for a horn that is the same as this one in a straight bell. Can you tell which horn that would be. I have a Bach Stratovarius Model 33 Serial# 663314. I am not comfortable with that horn. There is more resistance when blowing on the Bach.
Thanks for viewing and writing. the 727 and 707 Sonic are very similar visual designs by Lablanc. Both were made with the Bobby H bent bell and the 707 was also available with a straight bell from what I have found in researching. The support arm from the valve cluster to the tilted bell versions are in a slightly different location on the 707 (from the 2nd valve, while it is coming from the 3rd valve on the 727). The 727 is a large bore .468 while I've been told the 707 Sonic was a .453 Medium bore. They also made a 700 that is a more typical .459 medium-large bore. That should be available in the straight bell that you desire, but would have a tighter blow. If your horn is a 727 model and you want a straight bell, then my best suggestion is to look for a Leblanc 707A 'Al Hirt' model. That is also a .468 large bore and would be the closest in playing characteristics.
Such a cool car. One of my dad’s friends sold me a black and silver ‘85 with the what I presume has the sun-shade-sound package because it has all those options on it. Needs the engine to be sent to a shop to be rebuilt, but other then a few rust holes in the floor the car is in such good shape, I can’t wait to get it running and drive it around. I never plan to get rid of it, it is the first car I’ve ever bought by myself.
I just bought one, car is sick
I hope it proves to be a good one for you. 'Sick' can be good or bad ... so I hope yours is the positive, jaw-dropping sick! The carb on mine was problematic at times and I had a tough time finding a skilled tech that knew the art of carb tuning. Beyond that, I really enjoyed this 1983.5 DSC and enjoyed my 1985 turbo version even more. It was my first car, so it holds a special place in my heart.
@@blainekelley816 it’s awesome lol, but yeah the carb needs to be tuned but I can do that myself, it’s a 2.2 so I’m thinking I’m going to tune it a little high so it resists stalling
There is a railroad tunnel near Afton and Waynesboro, VA where I live; it is the original Claudius Crozet tunnel. The workmen hand drilled into the rock and set charges to blast the rock so it could be carted out. Recently open to the public at no cost (yet) and is for hiking/bicycles only. A newer tunnel replaced it many years ago.
amazing to me the man-power used in the past and what was accomplished. I hope to check it out in-person!
That is the one thing That Side Up North (you know, the one in the Black & Gold kits) can never take away from us 🔶&🔷 faithful down here is that we beat them first, and we take great pride in pointing that fact out to them, much to their chagrin!
Ok.I don't even play trumpet but I do l like the sound of the Spiri & Da Carbo Unica. Warm tone.. .Very nice. Go Charis :)
Thx Malcolm! Appreciate the view and comment. Spiri makes the DaCarbo … so they should ‘go together’ well. 🙌🏼
hello where to find a curved mouthpiece?? (bend )
Hi Joel, thanks for viewing and your comment. Mouthpiece Express offers services to bend most models, and that is where I purchased it. Only issue is centering/sealing it against your lips … if not lined up straight.
@@blainekelley816 thank you for your feedback, and good music to you
Just came across this video and reminded me of a long time ago. I had a Benge 6x (not the CG model.) It had a nice bright sound and very full-it would use all the air you could give it. I attended a free clinic that Claude gave when he came to St. Louis a long time ago. He was representing the Benge company and he explained they ruin over half the bells when they try to make his model horn and that you could easily crush the bell with your hand it’s so thin. But he wanted to design a trumpet with the brightest sound possible. Being that fragile scared me so I opted for the 6x. I’ll never forget that day being able to meet and talk to the great man.
Hi Johnny, thanks for viewing and even more for commenting with such a cool, personal story! I remember playing the 6x and 7x, loving both … and still not sure why I didn’t decide to buy one back in the day. They are (not were) great trumpets! I played the 6xCG too, and was also worried about damaging it. As for the Selmer CG, it was a great player. I ultimately sold it … But sometimes wish I still had it.
That is one beautiful flugelhorn baby! Dang.
Hi Roik, thanks for viewing and commenting. Yes, the finish is just stunning!!
Nice playing. What mouthpiece is that??
Thx for viewing and commenting. Mouthpiece is AR Resonance.
If money grew on trees.... Would really love to upgrade from my not so great Yamaha Flugelhorn....
The Yam 631/731 is a decent flugel … not so sure about others. I liked this CB, but the sound wasn’t as sweet as other flugels, which I blame on the mouthpiece before I started using the deeper Curry models. The shallow mp made it easier to transition back and forth from trumpet, but a deeper mp gave me more of the richer tone I desired. For the money, This was a great horn, especially considering fit, finish and intonation. I ultimately upgraded to an Adams F1, which is awesome … But also more than 2x the price. This flugel really is amazing for the price.
@@blainekelley816 I'm currently playing on the Yam 231. I have tried the 631 in the store, I liked it alot it I'm currently saving for a new trumpet. I like the deeper mouthpiece for the flugelhorn as well, I'm currently playing on a Yamaha 13F4. Is there a mouthpiece you recommend?
It's a bad idea to ship a trumpet in the case. It can too easily get damaged. I've shipped my trumpets a number of times and have always shipped them wrapped numerous times with bubble wrap, then stuffed in a box filled with packing peanuts. Safest way to ship a trumpet! That's why Monette does it too
I learned customs had to check it, so that was another reason. I always wrapped the horn in the case + bubble wrapped + packing peanuts around it in a bigger box. Interesting …. Thanks for watching and commenting.
It's unfortunate they were front wheel drive, otherwise 80's vintage Shelby Chargers would be worth much more. Nice looking though, and low miles! Good find.
THX. It would be cool if set up more like the FOX-body Ford's of that era. It would have been cool with RWD and a V8. But once they added the turbo in 1985 it was a lot of fun to drive.
Honestly, sounds like shite.
Awesomeness 😎🤘
GREAT VIDEO!!!! Thank you. Your sound is beautiful on every horn but the Adaci.... I think every horn must find his ideal mouthpiece. For me, with the Yamaha mouthpiece the Adaci is the best but when you changed the mouthpiece... Hm... Especially the HT, with the Adaci is a "downgrade", the other two horns sounds much better with it. Anyway, nice playing and very good horns. All of them.
Thx for watching and comments. Gap, throat and backbore are indeed elements that ‘fit’ or don’t from mp to horn. That is why we all go on Safaris! 😉 (which is a lot of fun!)
👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice sound. 👍👍👍
THX for watching and your comment. That video was just iPhone mic, so the overall sound isn't the best. I need to get a better mic/video set-up!
A10 bell for me... Very nice comparison. Thank you!! =)
Thanks for commenting. I kept flipping between the small A10 and A3 bells as my favorite on the changeable bell trumpet, probably because they were the most different from my A4 LT-S with the big 5.5" bell. Did you like the A10 big or small bell better? What trumpet do you prefer to use and what about it do you like the most?
Blaine…I have to admit, also being in Cincinnati makes me extra jealous of all your toys!
Perhaps it is time for a Cincy Trumpet Hang?! We’ve had a few in the past decade … I think we’re due!
Sounds really special! Congrats Blaine! :)
Thanks, Giulio. Looking forward to playing and recording it on more than an iPad mic!
Excellent review, Blaine! Loved the variety of tunes..it really showed what that axe can do. It has a gorgeous tone and finish! Enjoy!
Thank you, Jon. Looking forward to getting to see you soon and you can try this sweet axe.
🇩🇪🙏👍🎺
Amazing comparison! I'm still partial to the smaller A10 bell, which just happens to create the closest thing to how I imagine a trumpet sound, in my mind. The thick A3 is so cool when pushed hard. How it doesn't break a sweat and stays as thick as peanut butter. :)
Thx, Giulio. I agree that the small A10 bells has a great pure trumpet sound. I’m not sure I’ll pick that or the A3 bell over the other … they are both winners to me!
Great comparison! How does the playability of the Adams A4-LT compare with the Da Carbo?
Thx for viewing and your comment! Both are ML bore and the A4 LT-S is my absolute fav horn (it is so flexible to play and I have more confidence with it). It has a more open blow (and more than most ML horns) while the Unica is a bit tighter (more back-pressure… if that makes sense). While playing, the Unica sounds brighter, while this video surprised me in the core and warmth of the Unica. The A4 and A4 LT-S have a much wider wrap and are more comfortable for those with big or long hands to hold, while the Unica is more traditional/typical in wrap and how it feels in your hands. The Adams valves are great and have never let me down (never sticking in a gig), while the Da Carbo valves are the absolute fastest I have ever played. I am highly impressed with both. The A4 changeable bell is brand new to me. I’ve had an A4 before, so I already knew the weight would be much greater than the other 2. It is not a problem or issue to me. The bells are easy to change and I think the horn plays very well. Personally, I like the 2 smaller bells compared to how the A10 5.5” feels so far. I don’t think I could play the A4 LT-S in the section of a big band because it wouldn’t blend. The DaCarbo or the A4 with the A3 5” bell seems to be a better option for that. I also really like the way the DaCarbo sounds with a tenor sax in a jazz quintet. They are all great horns … it is a great joy to have them all! Which sounds the best to you and why?
I’m biased, as I’m an A4-LT player as well. Such a great horn, with a wide potential of sounds And it’s good to hear your thoughts about the A4 with other bells, and the Da Carbo. Indeed, all great options!
