Look at the vines with leaves design right next to the stone -- that looks like art nouveau. Also, the intricacy of the design and (taken as a whole) its similarity to a flower. I've seen some really lovely art nouveau and art deco jewelry that *isn't* made with precious metals/stones, but rather with metals and stones that are not considered 'precious' and so are much less expensive. I was going to say that the artists maybe felt more free to do bold, unusual or creative designs with less expensive materials, but I can't say that after looking at this video. Thank you!
Those are testimonies to highest level of fine art. The last piece, the necklace was called the epitome in the video. The word epitome when spoken sounds similar to "eh-pit-oh-me". I made the same mistake for many years. It's one of those words. Cheers!
Thank you for the informative and interesting video. I enjoyed listening. I enjoy making jewelry and learning about the different luxury jewelry houses. I love bead weaving and try to use the best materials that I can afford. My favorites are freshwater pearls, crystals and beautiful seed beads. I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been to wear these timeless masterpieces. The Duke and Duchess were very lucky to be able to afford such treasures. Tfs.😊
This second selection of famous and iconic art deco jewellery is a feast for the eyes and it is difficult to select a particular piece but I would say that the Marjorie Merryweahter Post's diamond and sapphire necklace is a show stopper.
I haven't seen anything from this era, or really from any time, as beautiful as the work of an artist in China who works with precious metals and gemstones currently I believe. I don't remember his name if anyone knows?
Whoa. Do NOT tell the guy at 3:19 that pearls look feminine. If someone did he looks like he would stab them with his sword, with a pearl-encrusted handle, probably.
3:29 This necklace is . . . kind of ugly. The rubies don't look good as round beads. It looks like little grapes squished together -- I don't like to look at it.
A lot of the things considered precious or valuable are incredibly ugly. Faberge eggs and a lot of royal jewelry is ugly, but super interesting as art history.
Love Love Love❤❤❤
The Aquamarine brooches were a gift from QE2 parents. I think it is why she liked to wear them
These pieces are simply amazing. The presentation was so informative and profession.
Many thanks 🙏

Beautifull vibrant colours and jewellery
My all time favorite period for fine jewelry. Just stunning.
Thank you for your video. The most I like is the Saphire broche. Also the Art Deco Diamond ear pendants and the double broche..
Thanks! I also like sapphire brooch, that’s why I put it on thumbnail
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

3:44 With six wives, this guy *never* got to wear any of his jewelry except for the single hour of this one, incredibly rare photo.

Pity you cannot pronounce properly. But fabulous gems
How rude. I found his Scot or Welsh accent fine.
@@nancyadamson286 good for you.
@@nancyadamson286His accent is Scots, I had no issues with his pronunciation either.
@Hummingbird108 Must you be so rude and ungrateful? I found nothing wrong with the pronunciation of the speaker.
@@nancyadamson286 Ignore that rude person.
