Your landscapes Stefan are brilliant but I think you should be seen an a national treasure. The degree of improvement in my oil painting since I started using your keys and art philosophy is amazing. Painting the effects of light has radically transformed my art, it has given me back the joy of art once more, many thanks sir take a bow😄
First Artist I have heard express what I always thought, painting a feeling is always my goal and primary objective and I thought I was just weird (which I may well be) Stefan Baumann just keeps putting into words things all artists know but didn't understand fully so thanks for doing what you do!
Oh Stefan you big tease!!! Get us part way there then "Ah! Time to end the video, stay tuned to see me complete the painting!" LOL. Loved the tips and of course your stories. Didn't know about the vertical vs the horizontal brushstrokes being brighter. Very curious! Who knew! Thank you so much for all that you so generously share! Hugs! P.S. I'm not sure that I would be up for painting in a hurricane, but maybe a snowstorm! And no more boring paintings!!
Hello Stefan. Thank you for the amazing video as always. Great reminder! I have a question regarding your motto "paint effects not things" and I absolutely agree with it. But I want more :) So I created another one in parallel: "evoke emotions not feelings" as I want people to feel higher emotions - something you feel inside your soul, the pure essence. In my recent studies of Caravaggio artwork I was very impressed that he was able to make the viewer experience deeply what he intended of course using effects. What do you think about this statement: "Evoke experiences through effects"? ~Mateusz
that seems a big vague, when stefan says effect it's the effect of light, or rather the illusion of the effect of light which is a specfic school of thought most employed by the impressionists in contrast to realists like Bouguereau who did paint things more than the illusion of the effect light. From your phrase, where would realists like Bouguereau be? would they be excluded as stefans saying does, or does it encompas everything?
Oops. Not quite accurate re: lead absorption through skin: refer to the sad saga of geishas, Asian performers who used lead-based make-up. Lead (heavy metals) can cause a host of problems in adults and pediatrics…kidney, neural, bone…but it certainly takes more than scant exposure on hands.

How do you get the paint off your sleeves ?

Loved this talk…I can’t paint anything I do not feel!
Hi Sharon.
That is true, I can fix anything. I know I can fix my painting so I will step out of the box.
Did you ever live in Reno?
Lake Tahoe I did teach in Reno with Rom Villa
@@StefanBaumann we are starting to get a lot of bears in reno now. Off subject, sorry. I just got a ring notice about that.
Using such a small brush to cover a big area? Wheres your BIG brushes? Start with a broom and end with a tooth pick as Helen Van Wyk has said.
at times its best to listen to the coaching and not be the coach

My point being is that it takes a lot of exposure and if it where an issue Rimbrant would have died at 30
@@StefanBaumann hi Stefan! Eager to see part 2
