Do you ever get tired of asking that question LOL "Where's your focal point?!" It can't be a thing that's white. The tricky part is creating the CFP. The vista that is inspiring the painting, is rarely lit as we would like to create that focal point, the creative mastery comes from the artist who can CREATE that amazing affect they want without over doing it! So the ability to tone down and quiet the things that lead to the eye to the focal point is the trick! That's what takes a lot of skill, practice, and experimentation. Play with the paint to figure out "What happens if I do this?" The world I want to change the most is mine, because I know it all stems from there and extends outward. Love to you Stefan, you are an awesome coach and always inspiring! I never tire of listening to your teachings. And your sense of humor... well that is the chocolate fudge sauce on top of the delicious bowl of my favorite ice cream!

Wow... Coach you are the best...and you are the inspiration behind the work I do....it's because of you... thankyou for talking about me!
I always am greatful that you took painting as a career and not bowling... because you are inspiring people from all over the world... someone like me, who didn't know anything about art you taught us everything...and now I have confidence which is all because of you....so much more has to be done and I am on it!
And ofcourse thankyou for giving out so much.... everything that you know to us...I always wonder if there is someone else like you...who could give out everything they have.... You don't know but you are the one who is amazing
Your detailed study about paintings which took so many years to accumulate and giving everything for free is not something everyone can do.
I think you are a superhero!! I love you! 😄😄

Learning to memorize what you wanted to paint is definitely a skill that requires practice! Creating a focal point can be one of the trickiest goals to accomplish when painting, it's easy to go overboard with detail and lose it. Good reminders.

it takes effort and courage to learn 'what we don't know' - and there is a difference between being a 'painter' and an 'artist' ..... Stefan clarifies the journey you personally need to take x

That comment you mentioned about "shut up and paint" is what I ask myself when I am stalling to start a new painting. And the answer in the my brain is, pick up the d** brush and start smearing stuff on that canvas now.Fear of the first brush stroke is like fear f my first steps into a room where I don't know anyone.

Focusing on just "edges" or how soft they are, or how abrupt... isn't but one tool for making the FOCUS work, and is just averting that artist from using other aspects of the toolbox to make a better painting. You can only be but so good if you aren't developing all the tools.

Highlights are effects, but using white to denote "light effects" is a naive use of paint- life is not black and white... its full color, even if there are very few colors around. Just becuase something is white does not mean it is bright, a white table cloth on a table is not usually the focus of a painting with a rose on a table...
