The paintings of Stefan Baumann reveal the true spirit of nature by transporting the viewer to distant lands that have gone unseen and undisturbed. With the huge success of Baumann’s weekly PBS television series “The Grand View: America’s National Parks through the Eyes of an Artist,” millions of people witness for themselves the magic Stefan portrays on canvas, his passion for nature and the American landscape. By distilling his love of nature into a luminous painting of brilliant, saturated color that transcends conventional landscape and wildlife art, Baumann has captured the hearts and imaginations of a generation. Each painting becomes an experience rather than merely a picture - a vivid manifestation of his special and personal union with nature and the outdoor world. Through his mastery of light, color, and artful composition, Baumann invites you to experience nature in its purity. It is no wonder that for many years distinguished American collectors, including former presidents and financial icons, have sought out his work.
You would love the walks around Penistone in Yorkshire, so many dry stone wall mossy dells.
Stefan I absolutely love the manner in which you share your gift. You have a fantastic personality and your delivery of knowledge is Top Notch! Thank you so much for all you contribute to the Art community. God Bless you Sir. And God Bless your day!
Completely agree lol he knows it too. His delivery is what makes him so exciting. I am the same way about art and music and metal. Some call it "weird" 😄, some call it "eccentric", I call it "the people that make life exciting"...they add passion to everyday subjects, and doesn't everyone need more of that!
We're lucky to have him sharing all of this with us. As a teacher he is a pleasure to listen to and provides as much valuable knowledge as the art instructors I've paid to take classes from. It's inspiring and he's a great artist in his own artwork and knows his field.

"My brushes are like my lovers, perfect at the start, but then they slowly fall apart" hahaha I laughed hard, glad u left that in there cuz I completely agree 👍 🤣 great vid once again Stefan!
I know, right?!!! So true lol
thank you so much, I love your videos! ❤️🌻
I am so homesick for the West Coast living in NYC. I didn't get to travel to Oregon or WA this summer to hike, so your videos give me a trip into the forests that I love so much. Even though I am not an oil painter, I find your videos very interesting to watch.
❤congratulation Stefan you really got it. I love your presentations very informative no fuzz, explain in detail and tremendously artistic. I get it well this way. I loved since I saw your video on the proportional divider.. fantastic🎉
Just what I've been looking for ! Glazing . . . . thanks for teaching and posting !
I love your videos, going to Patreon to join! I would love to do coaching- i know all the rules- but can't execute therm properly- with young children I find I study art more than make it. 😆 been a fan of all your series
wow, stunning, great focal point !
Great painting stefan
thank you
So beautiful and makes me feel smile at the artistic moments and creativity.
I really like this painting.
Beautiful
Stefan, you drunk on terp and wine stud, you! Keep talking. I love the way you described glazing and the amt of time it took old masters like what's his name to varnish, color, varnish varnish varnigh, color...etc, repeat x'2 a thousand....your knowledge is immense. Your clothing, too. WTF? McLovin it, bro! Fuckin' A, man! Rock and roll!!!
Your camera focus is perfect on the back of your head , but more zoom in on the actual painting is very important to the viewer . But then again how does one mount a camera on ones foehead
It’s lovely like a grotto with the light, how do you keep your clothes clean, I end up wearing the paint. I have no clothes left that are untouched
Nice ....would be interesting to see the hint of a Koi fish at the bottom of the fall .
You mean a trout?
🙏 Thanks
Hi Stefan, I'm wondering if you ever use Lavender Spike oil? It works about the same as Turpentine. Quick drying, cleans brushes and is safer, so I'm told! Thank you for doing the Baumann Effects. Very helpful for me. I would love to come to your ranch for a workshop, but it's not in my cards at this time. Maybe in the future. So, I am truly grateful for all your videos. Thank you 😊 Judy from Churchville, NY
Very nice !!! :)
Stefan, I LOVE your shirts ! Where do you get them ????
Thank you. I'm inclined to forget to glaze shadows.
So the details go on the transition areas, not the highlighted area. And I'm right there with you on the glowing mossy green - magical!! Thanks Stefan ❤🙏❤
Is the Liquid Asphaltum Tar product used as an acid resist in etching and inking base in lithography which preserves and protects etched plates against oxidation and scratching the same that you paint with?
real tar/bitumen/asphaltum is used in etching, as you point out.
not the same as the iron oxide pigment used by Harding.
see my other comment :)
Great! Now I need to buy a bottle of turpentine.
Oh yes, it's must in every studio. No offense to all those "cadmium-free, turpentine-free, lead-free studios" lol I def am NOT any of those. Call me old fashioned, but there's such a traditional quality feeling with traditional materials. I just wear gloves and open windows if need be. Still alive and healthy :)
@@DCweldingAndArt Oil of Spike Lavender is even nicer... and probz more poisonous.
but you only live once.
@@deegee8645 :) amen! Lol gotta die somehow or another 😅 and somehow I seriously doubt they're gna say at the funeral, "we tried to tell him, the spike lavender would take him to the grave, and it finally finished him off" hahaha no. 😉 not gna happen. Just ask any old aged artist
Asphaltum is not actually Transparent Brown Oxide.
Real Asphaltum is organic tar/bitumen.
Used in old master paintings, esp Joshua Reynolds & 18thC English art
Never dries properly in linseed oil, and ruined many JR paintings apparently.
However, it does dry well, when dissolved in paraffin/kerosene, and then mixed with modern Alkyd resin medium,.... giving an amazing golden glaze. (I know, I've tried this)
think he's breathed a little to much turpentine
:)
I think Stefan needs an "intervention" for his terp problem...
