After getting back to the dock in Illwaco, a college student was checking out the catch, so while Mike went to his car, I asked the young man to chastise him for catching and keeping a tagged sturgeon. Idk how i found myself watching a lobster fisherman from maine but this is so wholesome and calming, this guy feels like the love interest in a novel or a hallmark movie lol
He tried with Bowie, half blue=male, half red=female. But they had to let it go. Because Bowie quit eating...😢 But they're keeping stuff in the tank to keep it lively for the super kewl ones.
@Kara-kx1lb I was there for the entire Bowie story - but if they made an actual environment for the lobsters, and had multiple lobsters in it, I think they'd be alright. I just REALLY want to see an exotic lobster tank 😂
@@Frosty_tha_Snowman i dont know about that. lobsters are actually very territorial, especially around their shed times. plus even a single medium sized lobster takes a huuuge tank... multiple would take a proper aquarium.

You’re not allowed to keep any that are over 5 inches, they legally have to be put back as the larger ones are a protected species as they are more likely to make the babies with the ladies.

Totally enjoy you guys! Reminds me of when I was working the crab boats and oyster boats as a teen in the Chesapeake. Some of those days seemed so much longer than others and at the time I felt broken. Funny that 40 years + later and all I really remember is the hard work and the smell of saltwater in everything I owned. Even if I didn’t wear it on the boat 🤣 I was one of maybe 10 women working on the bay Att the time. (That wasn’t related to any of the captains or boat owners 😂 😅😊
Thanks for all the hard work you and your crew do Jacob!! I love eating Maine Lobstah for sure, whenever I get the chance!! More so, it's fun knowing cool people are doing the catching too and even though I grew up 1/4 mi from the Atlantic....no way could I do your job. Haha.
I live in a clamming town called Highlands, NJ. The guys have to work November to February. I give them so much credit cause it can be cold and windy. They have to use these big rakes to pull the clams up, no traps. Their are generations of clambers in my town. I didn’t grow up here, but I respect these guys so much. It’s nice to learn about lobster “fishing” also. If you like seafood, guys like Jacob and his crew and the clambers by me, give you the food you love. ❤
Is it just me that thinks you could possibly use UV paint and a blacklight to find the buoys at night? Hardly any expense to set it up but makes finding them at night probably easier than daytime! Happy Christmas to you and yours!
Jacob, I wish you, your crew, and all your families a safe, healthy, happy and Prosperous New Year. The ocean provides us with so much food and beauty - it is a huge classroom. I began my learning experience with the sea while growing up in Southern California. At age 48 I decided to revisit my favorite sport, which is swimming. After working up to swimming 1½ miles, I got back into the ocean. Thanks to our San Diego Lifeguards, I became more aware of the conditions at our local beaches. The ocean is a place where you can swim past the breakers and be in the wilderness. Respect it, play safe in it, and love it! 🌊🐚🦞
The fact that you are honest and let the breeding females and really old lobsters go, is really cool. Cleaning off barnacles and giving them a snack before tossing them back into the sea makes this channel extra special. One request: Please toss the fish back more quickly. Holding a fish out of water is like forcibly holding a human's head underwater. Thank you!
its actually a bit different, from my (limited) understanding of fish, as long as they the gills are still wet they can still filter oxygen to some extent. Holding them out of the water for 30 seconds to film a video is probably fine, especially when you see how aquariums will take fish out of water to do xrays and stuff and they are totally fine after
@@goosemoade5813 I remember same, but uncomfortable for sure. I'm not a fan of Steve Irwin yanking animals out of their comfort but one could argue he really spurred a love of animals to extroverted people that really need to be up in someone's business to understand something.

I love how you give them a snack before you let them go. Sustainable fishing at its finest😀. Great show guys, love watching from down here in Australia👍.
Love your compassion in the Lobstah Spa ❤ that cute little lobster was anxious for the SNACK 😊
Thanks.. you have given this flatlander another wonderful view of what you all do.. scary😮
You and your crew are so much fun to watch. Stay safe and happy holidays to you your family and entire crew.
Idk how i found myself watching a lobster fisherman from maine but this is so wholesome and calming, this guy feels like the love interest in a novel or a hallmark movie lol
Love this channel as I learn something new from every video. Merry Christmas to you and your crew. 🎅
The quality of your content just gets better and better man, really feels like a show!
I seriously want to see them get a giant fishtank and fill it with all the rarest and most unique lobsters they find
He tried with Bowie, half blue=male, half red=female. But they had to let it go. Because Bowie quit eating...😢
But they're keeping stuff in the tank to keep it lively for the super kewl ones.
@Kara-kx1lb I was there for the entire Bowie story - but if they made an actual environment for the lobsters, and had multiple lobsters in it, I think they'd be alright. I just REALLY want to see an exotic lobster tank 😂
Merry Christmas Jacob and your whole crew 🎄♥️🎄. Hopefully y’all will have an awesome New Year and y’all catch some really great stuff
@@Frosty_tha_Snowman I thought I recognized your name.😀 You're right I think that would be very kewl.
@@Frosty_tha_Snowman i dont know about that. lobsters are actually very territorial, especially around their shed times. plus even a single medium sized lobster takes a huuuge tank... multiple would take a proper aquarium.
Absolutely LOVE this show! Fast moving, fun, exciting!! Capt Jacob Knowles, you are so (+), so upbeat, kind to crew & crustaceans, alike. My mouth is watering for those fresh crab claws! Exciting to see what comes up in each trap. Keep up this important environmental work & GOD BLESS‼️ ♥️🙏🇺🇸🙏♥️
Captain K and crew rock! Excellent videos and they work SO hard!
Love the fact that you guys send em back to the briny deep with a Pogey or Herring! Great work guys!!
I love how when they hold up the lobsters they are so chill their claws are just swingin' around 😂
Except the little ones who are very pinchy 😂
Watching the boys lobstering never gets old! Happy holidays to everyone.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and the crew!
And as always, stay safe.
My favorite TH-cam channel right now! You had me at "Half red, half blue" lobster .
Merry and Blessed Christmas Jacob, family and crew!
Hello from Belgium, thank you guys and also the state of Maine, a breath of fresh air to see how between legislative bodies and devout professionals you ca tach the world how environmentally responsible industry while demonstrating best practise and make it fun, enjoyable and educational. you actually represent the best America can offer. Happy holidays everyone😇
Very best wishes for winning that lotto! Merry Christmas to you your family and crew. - is it possible to put a uv paint stripe down your bouys? If so it could help you find them at night with uv light?
If you brought that really old lobster back with you and gave him unlimited food, would he shed?
You’re not allowed to keep any that are over 5 inches, they legally have to be put back as the larger ones are a protected species as they are more likely to make the babies with the ladies.
I wonder if you'd be allowed to bring him back to the hatchery to shed and breed as that serves his purpose.
Merry Christmas Jacob, and guys!!!🎄🎄🎄
I love all that you teach us!! I didn't know that about fishing seasons.. I'm glad Maine has that rule...allows you to be as safe as possible ❤
I love these long videos it's nice learning everything and seeing what you guys do.
You are a great teacher, Merry Christmas to you and yours...
Can't wait to learn more about the lottery lobster 😊
Merry Christmas, Jacob!
Merry Christmas Jacob and Crew and family too. Hope your New Year is great and beautiful
Thank you for taking us along. It was just like being there with you, except I am warm and dry and not tired and stinky.
Is it just me that thinks you could possibly use UV paint and a blacklight to find the buoys at night? Hardly any expense to set it up but makes finding them at night probably easier than daytime! Happy Christmas to you and yours!
I love your work. Thanks for giving me a really awesome place to show my kids where their food comes from. Love all of you and you are appreciated ❤
Happy Holidays. I grew up fishing with my dad. Your videos bring back wonderful memories.
Love it! That's a long day you guys are epic
I'm lying in bed in Australia and feeling exhausted and hungry watching this.
Love your channel.
100% love you guys. I have cooked so many lobsters as a chef in NYC and learning from you guys makes me feel much more educated about something I've worked with for so long.
I don't eat lobsters, I don't like them. But I like your lobster channel. Greetings from Germany to Maine.
Ok, the little voice lines are adorable! ^^
Merry Christmas to you, your family, your crew and their families! Great video. Anticipating lots of info on the lottery lobster! 🇨🇦🤶🏼🇨🇦
Heard you on an NPR show rerun yesterday. Thanks for being such a good steward of our oceans
Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year to you Jacob and your family and of course to the Crew as well. ❤️❤️🎅🎄☃️⛄🎁❤️
I started with th shorts, and now i watch all the time. It's nice to see how nice his crew are to the animals. He cleans, notches, double checks and give snacks. Most of the people who do this just throw them back. He cleans the barnacles and gives snacks. I appreciate the fact that even with ines he can't keep, he cleans the barnacles and gives snacks. Plus, he, himself is entertaining. Love you guys. Keep safe and thank you on behalf of the animals. 😊
Merry Christmas eve Jacob and crew, families. Love your content.
Merry Christmas Jacob , family and crew❤
Isn't the internet wonderful? Who ever would've thought that I would even know about a lobsterman in Maine, let alone follow him and get invested in his catches LOL But I LOVE your content! Thanks for another terrific video
When I see these videos, it makes me appreciate what hard work it is. Catching lobsters and fishing in general is a dangerous occupation. Thank you for sharing these videos. I always look forward to seeing them
Merry Christmas Jacob to you, your family and, the crew of your boat
Great job boys. A huge day for you all. Enjoyable video. New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thank you for a great stream. Love the knowledge you are passing on to us.
I like that they look after the lobsters, and it's cute that they give the lobsters a snack. So many people forget that fishermen and hunters are often big on conservation too.
Happy Holidays Jacob and Crew. I really enjoy your videos and seeing what goes into lobster fishing.
