Here with another day out on the rugged waters of Maine, but today’s haul is far from ordinary. We’re kicking things off under tough circumstances as we face the challenge of retrieving 5 traps lost to a snapped rope-an unfortunate repeat of yesterday’s loss of 4 traps. The sea is unforgiving, but we’re determined to turn our luck around.
Join us as we drag the bottom of the ocean in an intense search to recover our lost gear. It's a true test of our resolve and resourcefulness, showcasing the less glamorous but essential aspects of lobster fishing. Despite these setbacks, we keep spirits high and manage to inject some fun into the day with a few games among the crew, proving that a good attitude can turn any situation around. We even had the cameraman give the second competition a go!
Adding to the excitement, we’re thrilled to introduce another member of our crew, bringing fresh energy and more hands on deck to help with today’s challenges. And just when we think the day can’t get any more eventful, I catch the LARGEST lobster of my life! This monster catch is one for the books, making today’s efforts incredibly rewarding.
So, strap in for an episode filled with highs and lows, from frustrating losses to record-breaking triumphs and everything in between. It’s a perfect blend of hard work, team spirit, and the thrill of the catch that you won’t want to miss.
Don’t forget to hit that like button, share this video with your fellow sea enthusiasts, and subscribe for more adventures from the life of a Maine lobsterman. Your support means the world to us and helps us continue to bring these amazing stories from the sea to you.

I know this will likely get buried in all the other comments, but thank you for your videos. They are entertaining as well as educational and wholesome. Keep up the great work. I wish you and your crew happiness and good fortune.
Why would they get buried
Ditto! I found this channel about two months ago. These guys are FUNNY and it’s a welcome change!
Not to mention, well made. 🎉
Not to mention...Jacob is easy on the eyes. I watch because they are funny.
@@melvidal Jacob is the main guy? I've only seen shorts. I wonder if he is married, I want to see his other half...the wife. That to me would be interesting.
I wonder if you could get a camera that has enough battery, memory, and can take the pressure so you could leave it in a trap for a day and see all the critters that visit your traps. Like a trail cam, but wet.
GREAT idea. Wow, that would be famous.
Cool seeing my favourite mad scientist here!
Reckon you could play Doom on a lobster?
I would donate some money for that
haha serious, when the cam went under water i was thinking exactly the same. Went to comment section to check somebody asked this, and here we are! I think its a great idea, maybe even if it doesnt have enough battery its still long enough to see the trap land and watch for at least a few hours i guess! would be interesting! Keep up the good work tho Jacob!
Actually I have seen documentaries and articles about the wild lengths marine biologists have gone to in an effort to get footage of various marine animals, especially from the deep sea, there definitely are cameras that could attach to a standard lobster trap, depth wouldn't likely be an issue, more likely issue would be light.
Its the snack lift and barnacle spa....its so famous now amongst the Lobsters of Maine they sent their Ancient Elder for a Spa day...
Comment of the century 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I agree! It's important to keep the gents looking good for the ladies!@@TrrsnSmrg
I never thought in my 35 years of life that I'd be sitting down watching fishing/crab catching content. Kudos to you and your team for providing informative and entertaining videos!
I love it too! It's better than anything on TV.
Its a lobster
Immortal what really holy hell
Me too but I love lobster rolls 😋
Same as well but in 26 years 😊
Seeing the giant lobster sinking holding on to his food makes me laugh so hard! Need more of that please.
My favourite part of this channel is the education and integrity that Jacob brings to each one. Not to mention the humour and hilarity! They always bring joy to my day.
Same! Any great craftsman is soothing to watch, to me. Keenly honed skills!
I’m glad you are getting sponsors, I enjoy learning about lobsters! We should all understand where our food comes from and who harvests it for us.
I'm very impressed how sustainable the fishery is! So much care to make sure they're not fished out for the future
Problem is is when Canadian fishermen come and don't play by the same rules?
@@birdlady2725making some pretty wild generalizations. We have caught so many American vessels fishing in our waters up here. Pretty sure it’s an asshole thing, not a Canadian thing…
@@TripleXMango Definitely just an asshole thing. But I bet authorities on both sides work together to find the various jerks.
@@birdlady2725 there is a mega fleet of chinese fishboats over the argentinian coast, it spans for miles and it's considered a mega-factory on water because fish gets caught and processed directly on the boats and goes back straight to china.
@@birdlady2725been on a lot of videos today, seen a lot of comments, but yours takes the cake on most ignorant. Good Lord, I'm just going to assume you were rage baiting and ignore it.
The biodegradable escape hatches are fascinating.
I agree, I was going to write and ask what future had any marine creature if trapped in a lost trap
I love the respect and love you show to the lobsters only taking the ones that are legal and removing the barnacles plus giving them a wee snack . Xx
Always fun hanging out and filming these! That lobster was massive!!
😮 The special ones are drawn to you guys. Gotta stop tasting tail meat and clarified butter when I watch these! 😂
Who would have known that the camera man looks like a viking warrior? :D
Jake I’m so happy you blew up. You and your team deserve it. You’ve got a great attitude and work ethic. Really happy for you man. I’ve been following along for a while now, proud to say, before you blew up. Keep it up! We’re loving the content and having a peek inside your lives.
The shot that went under the water with the huge lobster was so cool!
I really enjoyed the underwater shot after throwing the big boy back in.....
That was a fun shot
your kindness and respect for the ocean and its fishery is truly honorable. you sir are what it means to be from Maine!
Oooh new Jacob vid!
Just wanted to say your videos always bring me a smile. I appreciate you letting us see part of your world and learn more about lobsters and the fishing industry and what goes into doing what you do.
Thank you for sharing the good and the bad, while also being cheerful and goofy, and thank you for letting us be part of it all!❤
All the best to Scott! It'll be weird not to see him fishing with you anymore. But, always great to get to know a new face and even better that Tristan is a childhood buddy! The challenges were a lot of fun to watch - thanks for mixing them in with the fishing you're doing. And I will keep fingers and toes crossed for recovering all the gear from those 2 sets you're trying to recover. That's a lot to lose even temporarily. Stay safe and well, everyone! Cheers!
5:41 was worried you weren't gonna treat this Old Man to the claw spa.
So satisfying!! ❤🦞🛁
Truly an amazing episode. My beloved Lora Papetsas is Michelin Star trained chef who had a restaurant up in Cape Cod Provincetown. She truly taught 😊me how to eat a lobster. And after watching you for sometime now I realize why lobsters cost so much. Keep doing what you’re doing. Be well and be blessed. 🙏
I wish they could make those balloons biodegradable. I find them in the woods when I am hiking. I am glad you pick them up out of the water. Thank you.
My home must be in the tail end of a big airstream. I get a couple balloons in my trees every year .They occasionally have a name or even address on them. I have reached out before and let them know that releasing balloons on purpose is not a way to celebrate or remember their loved ones.
If you have a death in the family plant a tree for them, don't release memorial balloons. I've had balloons from the same family twice. I feel their pain, but releasing these mylar balloons in memorial is not a good practice. I suggested they plant a tree or save milk cartons(plastic gallon) to have them turned into a park bench. So far no more balloons from that family. It was from Minnesota all the way to michigan that's quite a trip and for it to happen 2 times is quite the feat.
Also a balloons with a school post card attached ended up in my tree. I did get to call the elementary school and let them know where it landed. They were studying air currents. It Came from iowa.
Huge lobster!! Hope you get your lost traps back❤❤❤❤❤
I find balloons in the sand dunes of the beach all the time where they got blown out in to the Gulf, then washed up on shore and partially buried in the sand.
But how many of them got eaten by turtles or sharks before washing up? How many animals died from getting tangled up in the strings? How many shorebirds or raptors got the ribbons wrapped around their feet/legs or their beaks and drowned or starved?
For all the animals that people see being rescued on TH-cam and TikTok, there’s lots more that no one was there to save.
Releasing balloons deliberately makes my blood boil.
When my kid was little we only bought balloons once a year (and were VERY careful to cut up the ribbons and dispose of it all properly), but now that he’s a teenager, we don’t buy them at all.
When they come out with a biodegradable or compostable balloon, I might buy some.
Hope you educated the teacher on littering, plastics and that their lesson on wind currents needs to be scrapped...or hopefully they realized that on their own, doubt it.
Sad thing is, the foil balloons are extremely reusable, we have some in our family that are close to 30 years old and have been reused dozens of times!
GREAT way to throw your sponsor in there! I didn't even skip through it LOL
Honestly love your videos. It's interesting to see the more rough parts of the job, but I hope you're doing well.
Am I horribly allergic to all seafood? Yes!
Am I still way too invested in your lobster season? Absolutely!
I like your channel because you have respect for the animals you hunt. And you free the giant old ones. That’s rare
Could you put your underwater drone on a grapple and see if you can see your traps?
Do they make any sort of gps tracker you could install on traps?
Moe, Larry & Curley Lobstermen 😂❤
Thinking same@@johnathansaegal3156
Bluetooth does not work through water so you would need some other way to connect to them
@@jansz811 cool, thank you for letting me know. I'm old school lol, so, not sure how electronic stuff works 😁
@@jansz811 Radio doesn't get too far either, depending on the type. It would be cool to have a device to clip onto the trap... when it's been underwater too long (lost), it pops open and inflates a little balloon with compressed air. That balloon drags a wire up to the surface, starts broadcasting a "come find me" signal, and acts as an emergency buoy.
Good to know lost traps arnt a death sentence. I enjoy how much you care for the lobsters keep it up
This is how you do sponsor spots, you and Internet Historian are doing such a good job of keeping them interesting.
I did a roof for a taxidermist once. When we were done he took my crew & I inside of his building. The man had a 26 pound lobster. It was speared off the coast of Maine. & he brought it home and did his thing with it.
I need to see that wtf
@@MegaBlankbullet man I wish I still had pictures of it. It’s probably been 10 years since I was there. Guy had all kinds of stuff. Even had a 9 foot black mamba, a replica of the one he shot in Africa.
@@Believeincodeguy sounds like a real arsehole, but probably had some good adventures.
@@Believeincode I'm all for hunting and fishing and i life for it, but trophy hunting is not sick.
I really like that there's biodegradable hatches that open up when traps can't be recovered. 😭 That's so good to know.
@TigersandBearsOhMy ty 4 the reminder. Sometimes jacob has so much wisdom to drop I have to come back back here to rely on the good folks in the community to outline and spotlight stuff 4 me.
I can’t thank you and your crew enough. Born and raised off the coast of NH between NH and Maine border. Have fond memories of deep sea fishing. Living in the Midwest your channel brings me a little bit of home ❤
The monster lobster floating down with his snack was so cute
❤Thank U Guys For Protecting and Keeping All the Lobsters Well Groomed as You Catch Them! I Love to Watch Your Videos and I Appreciate You All For Posting All Them!
Bless You All and 🙏Stay Safe!
I love watching them go back to the bottom with their snacks 🦞
I'm a queer thirty year old woman working as a service clerk with dead childhood dreams of being a marine biologist. Ive been to the ocean maybe three times in my life. The reason I drop this descriptor of myself is that your content is so earnest, fun, and educational Ive been watching for ages even though Im probably not what many would consider the "target audience"
Thank you for giving us a glimpse of your life, and for sharing what you so clearly have such a passion for what you do.
I grew up with the third word in your comment being a fighting word and an insult. It still makes me very uncomfortable to just see it written out like that. It's like the N word or something.
@@outdoorloser4340 I’m 🇬🇧but grew up in the 80s 90s that q word is like a hot skewer in my ear too, it’s a nasty slur. Every time I read or hear it it’s jarring. Horrible word
@@outdoorloser4340 thats the thing about words tho, they get reclaimed and their meaning changes, this is a good thing tho! That way no one can insult people with it anymore. Im in my early 20s and the f word is also starting to be reclaimed by our community as well! Theres still a lot of progress to go, but at least within social contexts it shows we've ALL come a long way :)
@@maydayfae 📢 🎤🎙 - making it LOUDER, for the people to LISTEN.
Many hear, not many listen.
@@calamityjehn also im sorry to hear that you cant chase your dreams of becoming a marine biologist. Maybe its because im young, but Id just like to say that its never to late to try to persue your dreams. I dont know why you feel this was but persueing your dreams doesnt have to come true in exactly the way you plan it. It could come in a different form rather than your dream career, iim not sure what jobs are adjacent to marine biology, but regardless I wish you much happiness and luck
Good luck Scott🙏🏻 You will be missed❤ That was a big lobster 🦞 Thank you for the best videos❤
This is what YT does best - let us see enthusiastic professionals giving a window into their lives. I've become addicted!
Your incredible catch of the over 100-year-old lobster is a testament to your skill, patience, and deep connection with the sea. Your respect for marine life and dedication to sustainable fishing practices are truly admirable. Your achievement marks a milestone in your fishing journey, inspiring awe and admiration. You embody the spirit of stewardship and passion for the ocean. And I am Floating Village Life
i have no idea how i just watched 22 min of this. felt like 5 min. and it's just... great. this is so entertaining, insightful, and absolutely fascinating. You make a long day at work into a lobster fishing crash course that is a treat to experience.
Look at you. I started watching when you had a couple thousand subscribers, and now you have over 1 1/2 million. Congrats to you & the crew. 😊
its not a job for you , it's your life and it shows you enjoy it, i know the business end of things are a headache but your doing it, instead of rocks use painted washers, or quarters winner keeps the 2-3 dollars a day, or let the pot build
Hey guys! Good sign to see u bringing up lots of eggers! You're bringing back sweet memories of my short time on a boat, just like yours, long ago. I can smell the sea! Hard work. Beautiful days. Best time of my life! Good luck!
Thank you for your care of our fisheries and the ecosystem in the ocean. It's fun to watch your videos.... I live in the FL Keys and enjoyed your videos from down here.
you sir are an excellent representative for lobster fisherman, knowledgeable, by the book and care about the environment. So glad that I stumbled upon your video
Best info-mercial video yet. Praying you find your missing traps
- I absolutely *love* your longer content ! Keep making them please && show us more lobster && crab pets.
love the footage @ 12:00 or so of the big guy floating down
Started watching your shorts quite a while ago. Been outstanding to see the progression of your video production. Well earned success, y'all!!
Jacob is very charismatic. I get a feeling in real life he's a great guy.
Grew up eating lobsters. Me and my dad were big seafood fans.
Love your videos, thank you for caring about the enviornent &sea creatures!!!🦞🦞🦞🦞
The way that giant lobster slowly floated down into the water, completely still, iron grip on the fish 😂
Thank you for sharing the challenges you face; that gives me even greater appreciation for what it takes for you (and other fishers and farmers) to bring food to our tables.
This is how it is done, hard working and preserving the future respect for doing an outstanding job!
Watching this finishing video while fishing in a game. The circle of fish.
Love your channel, you guys are awesome and I love the respect you give to those lobsters especially the ones you release you’re honest and respectful and always give them a little fishy treat. Keep up the great work🩵🩵
Love your videos! Maybe next time you catch a monster can you hold a more normal sized keeper one next to it?
*As a fellow New Englander I respect your attitude and positive energy…and respect for nature. I’ve met a lot of lobstermen who care about the sustainability of the ocean…and a few who practiced with horrible ethics. Major props to you sir, and many more full pots to come!!🙏🏼*
Another fun and educational video! I even found myself cheering out loud for that first lobster that was able to hold his fish, haha.😂
This is better than that tv show Deadliest Catch ever thought of being.
I always enjoy watching your videos. Fishing is a tough vocation. My cousin was an owner of several commercial fishing boats in Bering sea for decades.
The footage of the lobster sinking with the music was truly special!
Nice under water shots!!! That's aweseome!
It amazes me how much I love your channel. Not only are you and your crew fun guys to spend time with, I love the little factoids you pass on about the lobsters and assorted sea life you come across. I don't eat lobster very often, but I'll definitely have a new appreciation for them form now on. Keep up the great work, and keep up the Claw Spa and giving the kids their snacks!
I love you guys! so entertaining to laugh along with you and see all the creatures you find
Thank you for the videos and for helping clean the ocean.❤❤
Best sponsor section on TH-cam. I normally skip straight over them, but by making it part of a game, I watched right through. Well done.
What a sweet guy...so enjoy his videos. I admire his humane treatment of this humble species while making a living as a lobsterman. I have learned so much about lobsters and following conservation measures to ensure continuation of the species. I wonder how many other lobsterman get rid of barnacles and give the critters snacks when they throw them back? I always look forward to his new discoveries...blue, rainbow colored and how old the big ones are. His job is more interesting than I thought it would be.
How stoked will that big fella be, if he was a human he would be telling that story for generations
I have a lot of respect for what you do. Back in 1990 i worked in a restaurant and the owner had his own Lobster Boat. He let me go out with him and work on the boat. It wasn't easy work but i enjoyed doing it
Hey guys absolutely love the video you guys are awesome just to let you know I'm live in Tampa Bay and I've lived on the water all my life I enjoy watching other fishermen do their thing❤
5:43 Your helping out the old codgers survive literally brings a tear to my eye...
Great to see guys who love their jobs and know how to have fun.
That is so cool that lost traps release the captives inside! Was worried about that. Love your videos; somehow they are always entertaining.
*I could use a little after today. That was funny.. I think the competition game idea is a good addition.*
man i love that you are a great captain, everyone on your crew has smiles the whole time while working. keep up the great work. and may the sea keep providing.
I so love watching these guys. Funny, informative n at times lively.
Love that this channel is educational and entertaining mixed together!!!
*LOVED THE WATER SHOT OF THE OLD BOY SINKING WITH HIS SNACK & THE MUSIC!!🎶 ❤🎶*⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
Love your channel my friend. I was raised in the Appalachian mountains. It's so cool to see something that is common to ya'll, yet so foreign and fascinating to me. Love to you and yours.
I love the videos especially the longer ones. What you do is amazing and you help the oceans community! My granddaughter thinks you are the best friend to all lobsters! She also loves to eat lobster too!!
Another fun, exciting and massive lobster vid! That guy was huge! and I'm not taking about Tristan biceps! Ok maybe I was😂 Jeremy's weren't bad either!
It is your great personality that draws us in!!! Thank you!
I watch these videos as I fall asleep in my discord chats. The way the lobsters crawl around helplessly in the fishers hands always fascinated me. I love the way he clips their tails and gives them doobies when they’re ready to be released back into the society!
Love each and every single one of your videos! You should include the other guys more often. Thanks again for sharing these. My kids love them too.
I lobster for one season in Yarmouth Nova Scotia Canada back in 1988. The season runs from Dec 1 to May 31. Probably the most exciting job I ever had. I was second mate on a 41 ft boat. We were still using wood traps back then and were slowly adding in some wire traps to test.
I’m British and vegan so no idea how I got recommended your videos but I love them! I mostly watch your shorts and find them really educational, respectful and interesting. And thank you for picking up the balloons and other bits and pieces that don’t belong 💚 you’re good people
This channel just makes me HAPPY!!! Thank you!🙏
Thank you for explaining about the escape hatches. You answered my question. Thank you for being responsible, too. ❤
Thank you! This video made me so relaxed and it also feels like I’m with the crew as well! Fun adventure! cheers!!!
I love that they even thought about such cases, that traps get and stay lost. That they build an biodegredable emergency door for the already catched animals shows, that we really start to change our thinking. It is really cool
YOU GUYS GOT THIS !!
YOU AWESOME, HOPE YOUR DAY AND CATCH IS AMAZING! TO MAKE UP FOR IT
I always enjoy your videos for the fun and information you share. But I especially appreciate your "PSAs" about balloons.
Love seeing Jeremy get in on the action!
It's always fun
I am obsessed w these content like i feel it’s good for me, doesn’t stress me or make me overthink which is really hard for me, it’s educational like know I know about lobsters you know hahahahaha and it’s like a good energy, so thank you for this
I love a calm sea. Brings back memories from childhood.😊
Thank you for the suggestion of the Gruns God bless!
11:18 I can tell you, you just haven’t let me hold it yet.
That is definitely quite the goodsized lobster! Great video, Jacob.
🤣 11:47 by far, the most envious i have ever been of a lobster 🦞 Wheeeeeeee, happiest lobster ever !
And congrats on that camera footage! Nice job fellas! 👏
I would love to go on the boat with these guys it looks so fun
i love this channel cause it scratches the itch of my childhood obsession for national geographic reality TV shows
