- The third single from the second album, Forget About You reached #13 on the UK charts and also charted in Sweden (17) and Ireland (10).
I don't own this and don't stand to make any money from it. All rights remain with the rights holders. If you enjoy the music, BUY IT.
Anyone watch Grandstand in the UK??
This tune reminds me of the theme tune to that Saturday morning sports show 😅
I know what you mean.
@@missmuffet3874that's exactly where it came from.....true fact, look it up.
I remember Noel Tidybeard comparing the two on his Radio 1 show back in 1978.
Yeh, me and the lads always said that at the time !
Just what came to mind too😂
Had this single and airport played them to death in late seventies, I was 16 great band, great music, should have been massive, nearly 58 now, still sounds great, good tunes never age, 👍.
Same was 16 still sounds great today.
Hear you Chris.. Was 14
I was 18. I remember my father asking me 'why are they saying F off?'......
sounds like me now...
@@johanneslutzenkirchen3005ha ha good 1. Great tune from when i was a kid.👍
Today's generation need to take note, this is just brilliant.
It's the grandstand theme
How could it connect?
it's a different language.
So true.
@@jamesjameson4566 it actually is. they released a song and the record company wanted another couple of songs to go with it. sitting at home wondering what to write , grandstand came on and they started to fool around with the sound. and came up with forget about you. they said they were surprised they were never sued.
@@gerdoyle8149 ha ha love it
The Motors were a great band who should have been really big.
1978 was a great year for music!
love this song ohh beautiful memories of the 70's ❤❤❤❤
the poor devils born today will never know the joy of great hits we had in our youth. How could i forget about …them
There was a teen brother and sister band that covered this song on TH-cam a few years ago.
The most underrated song to ever exist
its up thier
great follow up to airport love it
Even betr than airport
@@terrencedougan4137 maybe
@@terrencedougan4137 no airport was defo better, still great tho
Wicked track. Should have gone much higher in the UK.......wonderful year for music 1978. Punk.....Disco......everything was that year....GREASE etc
What a f***ing belter of a track from 1978 this certainly gets your plums pumping. . and my personal favourite the fantastic Motors in full flow play loud. .Hello from Scotland.
OH YES
FROM MANCHESTER,S MILLION MILE BIKER
Chris Montignani you mean nick Garvey sang it
Quite clearly not being sung by Mcmaster, or anyone actually. Their miming didn't improve by swapping lead singers.
McMaster a seriously underrated songwriter
Spot on wae that statement lol 👌👍Chris.
The first few bars of this tune just make me jump to my feet . . just try listening to this song without tapping your feet is impossible . . The great and f***ing superb Motors from 1978 absolutely fantastic stuff. Play Loud for best effect! Play Loud for Best effect
This is a true "can't hold still" song!
Then you'll like, grandstand theme
Nick Garvey puts everything into it. Fab song, even if the riff sounds really like the theme music for Grandstand!
I knew that riff sounded familiar😃
This should have been a worldwide hit. The pre-chorus and chorus are infectious. I love Bram Tchaikovsky's voice. Edit: Nick Garvey's voice.
Nick Garvey....lead vocals
Another golden oldie !
Motors, a much underrated band with great tunes and understandable lyrics, not the unitelligable carp you hear booming out of boy racers cars !
Great song from an underrated band
Argh what memories of my youth. This is one of those feel good songs, makes you realise what music should sound like!
I miss music.
I'm sorry I did forget this song,I was obsessed with AIRPORT, this is a brilliant song ,in saying that when I hear it ,I do remember it.I loved the motors.
When I hear this melody it's suddenly Saturday lunchtime and we're waiting for Football Focus
Can't imagine why ...
They really did borrow the melody from Grandstand, the BBC sports show.....look it up.
Remember listening to this song when I was 16 in my aunties house on the radio in Mornington, Ireland. Went out and bought the single! Great song... Memories
Takes you back when you got paid on a Friday 1st shop was record shop to buy the latest hits, after seeing them on totp the night before. Happy carefree innocent days. !!
Johnny rotten and the MOTORS, great songs from them, thanks to TH-cam we can relive the days of growing up. Good song.
One of my all time favorite songs ..great songs stand the test of. Time
This song should have gone to #1 in America! It is a pop CLASSIC in my book. Everything about it is amazing! I'm proud to say I played the hell out of it on my radio show back in the day! Thank You for posting this!
It was covered by Leif Garrett in America, and it's available on TH-cam. :-)
Never gets played on the radio. They'd rather play C-Rap.
one of the greatest pop tunes ever written play this song and try not dance around. impossible . . the energy coming from those guys is electric. the music now has nothing on this classic
Love Andy McMaster....so glad I found the Motors again
one of the greatest songs ever
I got the honour to meet this song because an Hispanic-Argentinian group called Tequila made a cover for one of their albums. I always though that the song was written by them, but I found out that it wasn’t like that and I really love the original version.
Got this as a Single up in a cardboard box
in the attic somewhere along with Airport ,
and lots of other great songs from those days
Probably, actually definitely,it's one of my favorites
gathering dust in that box... but here I am
still listening and loving it all those years
later,great song,great memories...
You have to say this is magnificent!
Yes I agree, these guys should have been big.Proper road band tight as hell superb not manafactured
gmaccruyff55 its Grandstand lol
How did I ever miss them? Underrated for sure!
@@danielladdingford2295 Yes I always thought it was practically the same tune, but which came first? Great song whichever way.
Brilliant song
Bring it on! The Motors simply superb!! 👌
This single was like 60s Motown the likes of which Holland Dozier Holland were so adept at writing. It’s why Forget About You still sounds so good after more than 40 years since it was a U.K. hit x
Great to hear this again👍
One of the great tracks. Still gets you. Can’t stop playing it.
I just drift back to my younger years when life was just so easy , superb band
Forget about you a great follow-up to 'Airport'. This peaked at No 13 in UK Charts. I like the Motors very much.
Just heard it for the first time on Union Jack Radio . Outstanding stuff , going to request Johnnie Walker to play it on Sounds of The 70’s . Absolute belter 👍
Have the original album on red vinyl bought back in the day. Still play it today. Underrated group, not heard of much today
Bet it sounds fab on vinyl, loved it when it first came out, listening to motors while sitting on the sunshine in my back garden!
Bet you going to be happy that I love this song at the age of 16 so their memory carrys on, take a listen to sound of the sixties by diesal
A seriously underrated group,and songs......No other words,just simply SUPERB....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andy McMasters, Nick Garvey.....I hope you have the brilliant " Ducks Deluxe" in your album collection....
Why US radio ignored both this song and Airport is quite criminal. Those songs should fit perfectly in any US Rock format. It's also incomprehensible that the band's first 2 albums ("1" and "Approved By...") never made the Billboard Top 200 album chart (unless both Bubbled Under).
Not all U.S. Radio. It was WBCN in Boston who first turned me on to these guys by playing "Airport" in a regular rotation.
They also played "Love And Loneliness", if memory serves me greatly.
I found the vinyl and to this day, "Tenement Steps" is a Desert Island Favorite of mine.
They played Leif Garrett's version.
Theme from Grandstand!
@Steve Jenkins. I was searching through the comments to see if anyone had said this. I only heard this song for the first time when it came on a Spotify playlist and I found myself humming the theme tune to Grandstand. Those glory days of Bob Wilson doing Football Focus. Great times.
Brilliant song !!!....brought it when it first came out on a thick vinyl green on 1 side and red on the other.....similar to airport with the blue vinyl .....what great memories !!!....also remember buying dollar's "who were u with in the moonlight" also on thick vinyl with a full picture of David van day and Teresa bazar on the A side !!.....just don't make them like that anymore .....wow that was great being 16 years old back then in 78 !!😁😁😁😊😊😊......God bless b kind to each other and love animals ❤❤❤😊😊😊
bram is still about playing local gigs etc here in deepest lincolnshire england
Brilliant band great song takes me back to 1978 age 16
God, I loved the Motors as a teenager. Andy and Nick were old school songwriters.
this always put me happy . this Band is Gold! powerpop as its pure!
Love this song!!! I was 17 yrs. Makes me grin a mile wide when I hear it now. Sure I cried back then,! Cath
I just can forget this song, i was in school in 1977 and i love this band song, but now in 2021 i like it even more.
Should have been a no. 1! Amazing song!
I absolutely love a catchy power pop song - and this just nails it!!- how it should be done!!
You only heard this on college and alternative stations here in the USA, so it's kind of a lost oldie. The silver lining is that it never got overplayed, so it sounds as fresh today as it did in 1978. Leif Garret did a passable cover of it the next year, but it only sounded OK if you'd never heard this version.
what a good year; some good songs in the charts and Star Wars was still playing in the cinema.
Simple words and music brilliantly put together , I just love this song .
Such an excellent, underrated band.
"The grand Prix makes an emotional return to Imola and we have racing from Epsom, welcome to this Saturday's Grandstand"
Seen these play at the crypt, Middlesbrough Town Hall, 1978.
1978... com 12 anos comprei o disco e ainda o tenho. :)
2022... com 56 anos ainda ouço este maravilhoso som... alguém mais ouve isto neste ano?
Age 66 here Still have the headphones on.
Brilliant song... Beginning of the song reminds of Grandstand lol...
Correct
Great Musicians, Great singer/songwriters! Should have been MASSIVE! They had the songs ! dx
This was a huge hit. The problem is, nobody talks about it.
This is a 9/10 in my books. (And this is coming from someone born in 1999 whose teenage years were dominated by Auto-Tuned shite.)

いいなぁ。
大好きな一曲です。
Whereas Airport was an early summer hit, Forget About You was in the charts in late summer, and it has a touch of autumnal regret. Both emotional songs from blokes who looked pretty hard. Think the follow-up should've been Soul Redeemer rather than Today. It was time for a jolly singalong after these beautiful but sad songs. I remember building a bonfire for our village Bonfire Night with a mate, and we were singing Forget About You and thinking how well it fit with the nicely downbeat November vibe. 🙂💙💢
A Supreme Monumental Belting Classic From These Amazing Guys,
Remember This Like It Was Only Yesterday. Just Sheer Brilliance Thank You For This Great Memory.
I loved these guys back in the day and most of these songs still sound great. Saw them open up for Blue Oyster Cult in Bakersfield Ca "Yee Haw" LOVE THIS BAND
i don't know why but back in the day this reminded me of the BBC Grandstand Theme Tune..lol
Just heard this on the radio - absolutely brilliant song!
Great track , great group - sadly short lived.
This is a classic and the memories it bring from my early life❤
イオンの有線で流れてた曲です。
素敵なメロディ、検索しました。
ブリティッシュロックって、やはり
素晴らしい! 歌詞も泣ける名曲だと思います💓
Learning to play drums late at night, alone. Trying my best to play along with this killer track, which is painfully underrated here in the USA.
"Underrated"? Hell, it's completely unheard! Radio was too busy playing the grooves off of Frampton, Journey, and Fleetwood Mac.
A brilliant old stool pop song, the vibe man. Love it.!!!!!!!
Great song underrated group, got this on red 12' vinyl and Airport on blue 12' vinyl
It went to #1 on my own playlist many years ago (more than 40?) ! That's what counts for me!
They were short their time MUCH over looked this band this and airport are among my all time faves ever great energy band i have the vinyl still LOVE the motors.
Had a 60s (Marmalade, Love Affair) ring to it. Great song that, ironically an antithesis to the title, one I'd completely forgotten about.
Starts a bit like My Baby Loves Lovin'
Bloody hell, it's the Grandstand theme.
Some performance that! Great song !
This whole album was classic pop/rock, a touch underrated I reckon.
sounds a bit like one of the old BBC Grandstand theme tunes
So underrated loved the motors
Nick Garvey - proper front man. This is pure class
Great raw voice from Nick.
The Crown in Southwell......always a favourite😀😀
Pretty much one step away from being a disco classic
Sounds a lot like some 50s stuff, too. And, of course, bubble gum.
Loved it then love it more now,,70,s fabulous darling 🎰🎲😷
Geez, they dropped the ball on this one !
Maybe thats why I've never heard it before...
Orgulho de crescer em um lar ouvindo essas músicas...legado de um pai maravilhoso apaixonado por música ♥️
This has got heavy influence by Chris Rea and late 70's Status Quo.
The vocals have a strong Bubble Gum 'flavour'
Great song.
The Rubettes as well.
Andy McMaster did write this great song but Nick Garvey sings lead. Andy is in the middle.
This band is so underrated
Imagine making a living like this. ❤
my favourite ever motors song brilliant
Cold Love was my fav from the first album
Reminds me of BBC's Grandstand theme in some respects. anyone else get this too? Just saying!
great band happy days
I remember buying this record my word where have the years gone whats next old folks home dementia. I think it's time for a beer anyone else like one
Yeah, get me a pint of Sam Miguel Brother ....
@@kevanhughes 🍺there you go
@@djpaul146 Cheers !
Nick Garvey's voice is timeless. Would love to know what he's doing now!
Can’t find any info online but I’ve tried !
Thank you, Super!
Can't forget about you now that we're through... CLASS!
Magic!
they're one of the reasons PUB ROCK was so important to punk etc later on.Totally underrated genre especially when we had to put up with RACEY etc at the same time.
The best thing about this group was that they had a guitar/vocalist called Bram Tchaikovsky- pure Tap! [Great song tho]
Better than plain old Peter Bramall (his real name) lol... they added great rock music and a splash of pop in the later years.
Great song but keep thinking "Grandstand" when I hear it !!!
I saw them open for the Blue Oyster Cult, heaven knows when! The light show left me with Band-Aids! Fun Times!
Even betr than Airport and that was superb.still play the original vinyl
