HOW I ADVERTISE MY TRAILER!! th-cam.com/video/RQoMKxBwlII/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rMUODq4bVwPCdUpW If y’all want to know how I advertise the trailer here it is! 💰
Bobby You should invest in a winch….even a Harbor Freight one. Most guys are probably using it to pickup cars ….barn finds that don’t run… you may even be able to up the prices. Also get some tie down strap …if you don’t have a trailer most people aren’t going to have them…..you can charge a couple bucks for renting straps. Just my two cents…..Good Luck!
Be careful though. Winch and straps add liability if they break or are used improperly and come loose. Maybe once upped to an LLC. IMO. Good luck and keep it moving 🎉
@@xbookman6823 You are going to need a hell of a legal team to protect you and have near perfect documents for the renter to sign in that case. Here in the US, everyone is sue happy. People still try and sue for slips and falls on a wet surface when companies have video cameras and we floor signs...
Another tip, go ahead and rent a trailer from your competitors and get an inside look on their operations and how they do things… once you see what they do well, you can see what they don’t do well and excel everywhere they do and especially everywhere they DONT!
I am working on renting a log slitter, 6'x12' utility trailer and 5'x10' dump trailer. You need to have a super solid rental agreement. If someone gets hurt using your equipment they can sue you for not providing training materials and hands on training. I talked to an attorney about this. Also, you need Business Liability Insurance and it is expensive as hell! I got a quote for 5k minimum for a year!
When renting a trailer you need to require a debit/credit card to be on file. That way if they don't bring it back you can get your money back. Or if they damage it. This is what uhaul does
Love the business idea!!! but the risks are not worth it until you get legit insurance & an LLC. God for bid that trailer comes loose or something falls off. They would be suing everyone. Love the hustle though.
Good stuff man…just a warning though, you need liability insurance and/or to speak to a lawyer. If your trailer is involved in an accident, or hurts someone you could be in deep doo doo. You gotta make sure you’re protected, even tho I hate thinking about that shit
Cut a hole in the frame, insert the Air tag flick it down so it’s safe from heat and weld the slice you cut out back in and grind flush and te paint lol. Don’t matter if they know it has an air tag if they can’t find it to get rid of it 🤣

I love this idea. I am following another guy doing a trailer rental business... he is killing it. I just bought 40 acres in Colorado and have plans to have a small section for about 10 trailers of different sizes. I have a car trailer and a 3 axle wedge trailer already to start.

Awesome work Bobby. Grease the bearings after every trip just for piece of mind. Especially if they were in an inclement weather or off road for some reason. Keep us updated on your home renting endeavor. I want to see your opinions. My dad owned property’s around the area. It made money but he always pushed me away from it. Cash!
For the Air Tag. I would recommend counterboring the underside of one of the boards enough to encompass the air tag. Then just take a .25 X 1" board about 6 inches long and place it over the counterbored hole with the air tag in, and put a screw on each end to hold it in place. When you need to swap out the air tag or battery just unscrew one end of the board and swivel it out of the way to pop the air tag out. Place it in an obscure place and they shouldn't notice it is even there. To hide it even more you could even route out a channel for the .25" X 1.00" board to make it flush as well.
In your contract, put in the terms that the renter has to preform a coupler test meaning lower the trailer on the ball lock in place. Extend the jack all the way down lifting the vehicle if not set properly it will decouple there and not on the road hunting any body
I’d return the rim to tractor supply and get yourself a rim from a salvage yard for 15 to 35 bucks unless you already had that and got a bare tire rubber for your own rim .
Rent your home bro! It’s as simple as hitting the bank, take your truck (assuming it’s paid off), squeeze the equity off your truck/asset and place that down as a dp on your “forever home”… You can purchase your “forever home” under an FHA btw… you’ll need to offload your property off your name of course but naturally, this is what you’re gonna wanna do anyways since you’re gonna rent it out. So print out a quickclaim deed and transfer it out of your name and into a Trust/LLC that you create. But reach out to your bank before you do that so this way, you can definitely make sure that that’s within their guidelines because sometimes when you do this it may trigger a “due at sale” clause, so you definitely wanna make sure that your bank allows this before you just go ahead and do it for the hell of it.
I am thoroughly enjoying the trailer content. I am very interested in seeing how this turns out. Great concept for sure. Ironing out the details will be something I’m curious to see what you end up having to do.
@@TheSlowC6 it’s been slower than I expected tbh, next month we’ll be paying the last payment, it only will have taken us three months to pay it off but I’ve only been making about $3-800.00 with the trailer every month lol I’m thinking I’m gonnna get a car hauler next, I feel like the car hauler will gain more traction around my area, if not I’m gonna probably sell them both lol or just keep up the little business idk yet we’ll see, if I’d had known it was gonna be this slow I probably wouldn’t have wasted my time making an LLC, I would have just flown under the radar lol
what do you do about BRAKE control on the trailer? most people DONT KNOW if their own truck side of it works..?? especially people who do not tow a lot. i would suggest installing a hydraulic surge coupler. that way, its all automatic and you don't have to worry about it. that is how u-haul does it on all of their rental trailers.
Great video dude but if you haven’t grease that trailer, you should definitely grease those hubs and don’t know if you did check the bearings but I would jack it up to see if you could wiggle the tire at all so you know the bearings are good
How do you handle brakes? Do you have surge brahes? Electric brakes? Are your customers vehicles equipped with electric brake controlers? Brakes are suggested (and a legal requirement in some areas) at 3,000 lbs.
Silicone the AirTag to the frame and hit it with black spray paint. Extra points if you can throw a bead with the silicone and make it look like a weld
Pelican makes small little water tight boxes that you can place your AirTag within. If you hard mount it by drilling through the box place some Butyl Sealing Tape over the hole on both sides. As long as the bolt/screw has a flat shoulder to apply pressure to the tape it’ll seal water tight. Harbor Freight sells some high quality versions identical to the originals (patent expired) so you can save a few bucks. Keep in kind, anyone with an iPhone will be alerted that an AirTag has been with them, so a thief will easily be notified and remove it, and go drop it on a bus long before it’s due back. Consider going on line and buying a better quality tracking system that doesn’t announce its presence to everyone.
I’ve got a newer trailer that I’ve often thought of renting out. I had an older trailer that I loaned out a few times and something always came back broken. Maybe I’ll look into the insurance/LLC thing.
You absolutely should be charging the business for any labor you put into it at least if you ever want to be able to sell it. This is the only way a prospective buyer knows the true cost of owning the business.
Hey man, a question I have; what would you do in the situation that someone rents your trailer then gets in a car accident? Are you liable in any sense?
You probably did this already. Just get commercial liability insurance. Covers you for like 1 million and you don’t need to worry about anything. Cost like $800 a year or something.
What does the contract look like? Is it something you had someone draw up and you paid for it? Or did you write everything up yourself? I’m looking at doing this I have a 16 foot utility trailer and a 12 foot dump trailer. Getting ready to buy a flat bed I’m curious. If someone does damage the trailer how do you go about having them pay for the damages

Where are you located? Is there much market saturation there? Just curious because I was thinking about doing this and it looks like there is a lot of competition in my area, and you can rent a similar trailer for well under $100 (like $50-$60) for a one day rental.
