Great video reminding us of trailer operations. After 35 years of towing I made two mistakes this year of being complacent hooking up a trailer, thank goodness for safety chains and TP. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and sharing with us. 🇺🇸
Nice “day in the life” video Joe. Elaine from Canada here, I see it’s still t-shirt weather. Wow! Glad you’re able to spend time with the family and cherish those times. Good camera work “youngest daughter!” Happy New Year to all. 🥂
1/4 cords,…I absolutely love them. I really appreciate the business model inspiration. I’ve been flipping firewood the past couple of months. The biggest thing is letting your suppliers know and understand the standards and expectations that you have in place.
@ I hear ya on that. I always buy rounds, or wood that’s only been split in halves or big quarters. That way I can split it to my liking. Hopefully I can find another log hauler. That would honestly be the best option.
Hi Joe - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. As usual I enjoyed your road trip footage. Happy New Year to you and the wider OWB family. Hopefully it will be a prosperous and healthy one for us all.
Great pickup and Germany for deliveries!! Its like we can slow down during the holidays but knowing we will pick up the pace after them. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
I know what you mean about the neighborhood truck. Family, friends, and neighbors all benefited from an old utility built purpose, no frills truck. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!
Joe, on backing a trailer, some time see how well you can back a trailer in a full figure eight. If that turns out to be easy, as it should, try doing a backing figure eight with snow on the ground. Doing so on a slope adds to the fun. You should be able to start off going either way. The first time I did this was with a 52' trailer during a CDL class. The students loved it.
I could probably do that but that is just in my head right now. I can't explain this but I can feel and see the hitch in my head and how the trailer is on it. It doesn't matter if I use my mirrors or if I turn around. It just clicks in me.
Should be easier to locate for the event. Satellite and road drive by updated and you can now see the firewood. . Also something to consider, there is something that allows people to locate your northern wood yard in the video. It involves alternative auto fuel.
You are a great man Joe as your ideas and business model totally on board with. Much respect admiration Ohio wood burner #1 Happy New Year , my friend 👍🔥🇨🇦
haha... I remember as a little kid practicing backing a trailer with our lawnmower. It's just something I can feel. Hard to explain Hapy new year Roger!
People use pickups because they are solid and stronger built than a car, making them safer, have better visibility, and provide all the comforts that a car does. Pickups have the added benefit of being able to carry awkward loads. Pickups last longer on considering the poor state of roads nowadays.
Joe, really scary we are on the same wavelength 😂 I just had this exact same conversation with my wife a week ago! Asked her if she remembered back in the day pickup trucks were nowhere near as popular as they are today. Was only one family member or neighbor that had one and everyone used to borrow it! And congrats to Dr. Emily as well!
I agree. It seems to me that if I could completely rely on one or more of these guys to keep me supplied I wouldn't need a processor or a splitter....but that would take all the fun away of being in this business LOL
Merry Christmas, Joe. I had my dump trailer doors open on the freeway after I hit a pot hole. Luckily, no cars were near me, and my trailer was empty. I had my buddy weld a piece of chain on one side and an O ring on the other side. I call it my secondary locking device. Take Care.-Lendy
@ohiowoodburner No, it's the type that has a handle welded to a bar with a C hook that closes in it housing. I also have another dump trailer where each door has a pin. I welded a chain to both trailers just for reassurance.
Happy soon to be new year! I dont charge family either. Friends are a little different. I suppose it depends on how good of friends they are, and i am sure you can relate. Keep your plans rolling. They seem like good ones
You talking about people growing up in the sixties and seventies i remember people taking pickup truck frames with box on them and making trailers out of them and everyone would want to borrow it
Great video Joe! I'm with ya on the trailer backing. I have to back in at our house due to the lack of space to turn around with a trailer. Our driveway is 500' long and you get good at it when you have to do it all of the time. Happy New Year to you and your family! 👍🍁 - Tim
Hey Joe, very True and Delivery of Firewood is right on. Probably will not make it to your International Firewood Expo. Would like to very Much but being on a Fixed Income and not working like I used to creates a Problem. I FULLY SUPPORT YOUR EVENT AND IF THINGS TURN AROUND I MAY MAKE IT. ANYWAYS stay Safe, Warm and a GREAT AND HAPPY NEW YEAR. Ron.from the Woodyard in Upstate NY.
Great video Joe. Happy holidays. My son seen your yard in video. And asked when we were going back to JAPA. He is excited. He said his ink is all out of his JAPA pen he won !!!! We need a new one.
For all you beginners out there and or know of someone just learning to back up any type of equipment or trailer one of the easiest ways is to use the bottom of the steering wheel you will find that you will become a pro in no time
My first truck was 1942 Chevy still running on my property 😊. Joe it my B day today spending it with my grandkids 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 ALL THE BEST IN 2025 . great 👍 video like 👍 always Tks a million.
Hello Dr Beachy! It's a pretty warm but rainy day here. Not going to get much accomplished here. I just read a book on Custer by TJ Stiles. What a great storyteller. Next time I am out your way I will let you know. We can meet up for a steak sandwich!
Thanks so much Dave. Same to you. I can't remember if I told you but I drove thru Kent two weeks ago. Drove right past the Loft. There have been a lot of changes around Franklin hall/South Lincoln etc. Looks nice.
Hey Joe! Great video. Check your cotter pin on that spring latch. I have the same trailer and it tends to work itself out. Yours looks like it's trying to escape 🤠👍
Hey bud, looking at the back of that trailer you better get yourself some anti-rust inhibitor you know you take yourself a old spray pump spray bottle and you put half engine oil and half kerosene and you pump that sprayer up and you spray that we’re all that rust and it’ll keep it from rusting ain’t gonna cost you any money except for a little bit of diesel that you mix in with the Old crank case oil just trying to help you out I love watching a show
Humm, I notice a crate over by the Japa, maybe a new toy you will be showing off soon? With the ground so soft, I imagine you aren't able to get more log deliveries for a while. I heard it was 60 degrees on Saturday. I still think you should surprise one of your videographers with the much sought after OWB employee of the month award.
i have a excavator loader dump trailer eqipment trailer and saw mill . for years i did work for free for friends and neighbors but had to stop it. lots of time they wouldnt even offer diesel money for a $1000.00 job so i had to stop it. it got old
Now you have to add 1 more trailer to back up with. Try backing up with 2 trailers hooked up.Way more fun. Ɓ- trains. That would be very very good entertainment. Lol. It's actually fun backing up 2 trailers
My oldest Son has a pickup and he gets calls for help. He is so kind. God bless you and your family. Happy New Year.
Thanks for watching buddy.

haha. I hear you on that larry. I have to be very precise to be correct.

we have had 60 degree weather last two days Elaine!!!

well said Amanda. When I first started doing this I was still resplitting everything. One I found the right supplier things got super easier

Great pickup and Germany for deliveries!! Its like we can slow down during the holidays but knowing we will pick up the pace after them. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
That is the case for me. I could have put another order on this truck but for me my time with family is more important this week. Thanks Dave
I know what you mean about the neighborhood truck.
Family, friends, and neighbors all benefited from an old utility built purpose, no frills truck.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane!

Thanks so much for the support and kind words Savage Brad!
lol at “I impress myself “. Love the self confidence. All the best for 2025.
haha... I remember as a little kid practicing backing a trailer with our lawnmower. It's just something I can feel. Hard to explain Hapy new year Roger!
Joe, I had to smile at your opening comments. That was my era... my father was always borrowing someone's pickup truck!
haha. We had to keep the neighbor close so he would lend us his!
People use pickups because they are solid and stronger built than a car, making them safer, have better visibility, and provide all the comforts that a car does. Pickups have the added benefit of being able to carry awkward loads. Pickups last longer on considering the poor state of roads nowadays.
Gotta love the trucks!
Happy New Year. To you and your family and enjoy your videos.
Thanks wade. Same to you buddy

And congrats to Dr. Emily as well!
haha. That is the truth. Thanks buddy
I really like when you say Dr Emily. My son is a third-year medical student. Hard to believe in a year he will be Dr Lewis MD. Have a blessed New Year
Great to hear Tim. Have a happy new year buddy
Happy New Year, Joe! Great trip up to the north woodyard today. Thanks! -Brad
Thanks for coming along brad! Happy new year buddy
owning those trucks rusting out up north would have to suck
It's a double edged sword. Sure beats crashing into a tree on slippery roads.
Was the rust an option when he ordered it. When you ordered it😊😊
@ohiowoodburner, was the rust an option?
@@robertcroteau5597 LOL
I am glad you’re still using my suggestion for the back row crossways for safety of the doors not flying open. Peace and happy new year Joe.
It works great William. I don't really haul anything other than firewood with it so I consider this a solved problem!
Happy New Year, Joe! Have a safe and joy-filled New Year with your family!
Thanks Greg. Same to you
Good morning Joe nothing wrong with buying wood from the Amish great business plan👍🇺🇸
I agree. It seems to me that if I could completely rely on one or more of these guys to keep me supplied I wouldn't need a processor or a splitter....but that would take all the fun away of being in this business LOL

Was that trailer similar to this one? Same latch?
@ohiowoodburner No, it's the type that has a handle welded to a bar with a C hook that closes in it housing. I also have another dump trailer where each door has a pin. I welded a chain to both trailers just for reassurance.
Happy New Year 🎆
Thanks buddy
Happy new year Joe enjoy your day with the family
Happy new year!
Even at 73, I bought myself a Christmas 🎄 present of a pickaroon. I want to handle some firewood.
73? Fooled me JB. You still look pretty young, and ornery for your age!
Awesome Joe! Gotta get going on those logs so you can get some more!
Yes. My sales come first but I have been at it lately
Happy New Year
Same to you Greg
is the trailer missing a spare wheel and so you check the trailer lights with the hazards?
The spare isnt missing bc it never has had one
Good morning Joe.
Always busy☺️
Happy holidays
Sending you very best wishes for 2025🇬🇧
Thanks so much Paul. Happy NY to you!

I still see some of those in my area. LOL. Very practical for sure Kev

Happy New Year to you too!
Happy new year Joe. Good vid. I have sound some wood to buy as well. Take care.
Send it my way Woodstr!
I have one guy I buy from also, who sells quality oak. You always think you can make all you need yourself, but it never seems to be the case.
For all you beginners out there and or know of someone just learning to back up any type of equipment or trailer one of the easiest ways is to use the bottom of the steering wheel you will find that you will become a pro in no time
I was told that too Linda but i just seem to have this innate connection in my head to the hitch of the trailer. LOL.
This is true. Several TH-cam video's out on the subject.
"I wear my glasses when I drive"
And as you say that you drive WITHOUT your glasses.
haha... I took some chances on a lost country road. I can't see my screen with them on

I love using Pintle hitch's on my trailers becouse the trailers never come off my truck
That is one thing I have never worked with. Just the big ball for me!
Happy New Year Joe
Thanks, you too Craig!

Hey Joe! Great video. Check your cotter pin on that spring latch. I have the same trailer and it tends to work itself out. Yours looks like it's trying to escape 🤠👍
The struggle is real Sam. At least for me all I haul is firewood. The back row thing does well
Growing up in the fifties and sixties (in was born in 1951) I don't think I knew anyone with a pickup. The farm down the road had a farm truck.
We had a neighbor with a tan chevy with pin stripes. Had to keep him close!
first happy new year to you and your family good video nice job joe
Thanks Bob! same to you
Very nice spare tire! (Rack only)
Tremendous cost savings JB!
Was watching some awesome log splitters ...
I have a few. I need to get them fired up!
My Dad and my late uncle were the 2 guys will neighborhood pickup trucks. So I was laughing at that comment just because i understand it.😉👍
haha. We had a neighbor with a tan chevy. He was everyone's best friend

Ya know Joe, I've always considered you more like family than just a friend, now where's MY FREE FIREWOOD??😅
haha... I'm all out Jason!
Very nice 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks buddy
Nice video. Bud
Thanks Ralph
Remind me to share the story of why you should also verify the ball is 2-5/16" and not 2" for some trailers. 😂😧
Haha... same here!
great video Joe,
whets in the crate by the 405?
is it something that will make firewood great again??
That is the new TimberOx splitter. Stay tuned buddy
Will do
Cant wait to see it run!
Happy New Year love your videos. Buy a couple loads of rock Quit whining Better than what you had before.
If you thought this was whining you need to stick around Matt. You haven't heard nothing yet!
Looks like 87 near middlefield
322, next route north
Happy next four years
?
The economy in the next 4 years maybe better than this nation has ever seen
i have a excavator loader dump trailer eqipment trailer and saw mill . for years i did work for free for friends and neighbors but had to stop it. lots of time they wouldnt even offer diesel money for a $1000.00 job so i had to stop it. it got old
I hear you on that Billy. Fortunately I haven't had to deal with that so far
nobody had 4WD in the 60's and 70's, our farm only had 2WD pick up's----and we did just fine
Dad always showed me when I was little it was the 4x4 trucks who would be stuck in the mud. LOL. They always tried to go where trucks shouldnt be!
Spare trailer tire??
Nope
I am lost here. Did i fall asleep? lol. So why did you go buy wood when it looks like you have plenty? Is it your not seasoned?
Looks are deceiving. I don't have enough firewood. I maintained my relationship with a producer that i still buy firewood from.
Yoir oldest daughter got a Doctor et in what Field ?
Physical therapy
I can, better than most of your viewers, visualize the Amish farm yard you picked up at.
haha. I'm sure you can JB.
Now you have to add 1 more trailer to back up with. Try backing up with 2 trailers hooked up.Way more fun. Ɓ- trains. That would be very very good entertainment. Lol.
It's actually fun backing up 2 trailers
haha. I had thought that would be a nice challenge. One day maybe
Happy New Year Joe
Happy New Year to you too!
