Never been to Menard but this is now on my road trip list! Got to have me one of those cream puffs. I've been to Ft. McKavett. It is VERY haunted! Heard horses whinnying and moving around the empty stables. Went into the Officer's Quarters and got the distinct feeling I was not welcome there! Also, be careful of jack rabbits on the road who come hopping towards you with glazed eyes. I think they have rabies or something!
Used to travel through Menard all the time. I was living in College Station and would travel the 6 plus hours to go see family in Luling then head to San Angelo to see my boyfriend. I now live in Angelo and love it here. I hope someday we get to meet you and your team, Chet! Y’all are awesome! You inspire us to take the roads less traveled and stop and enjoy the beauties of Texas!
*Congratulations on reaching the hundred-grand sub mark!* 1. Comanches were somehow reluctant to be granted weapons from the Frenchmen, but they would do anything to defen their tents from who they saw back then as the evil guys. 2. These there sisters make some mighty fine grub there! 3. There was barely any silver in and around the area. Wish you could go to Hondo, Junction, Pecos (the town, seat of Reeves County) and Fort Stockton.
Man I just drove through here not too long ago going from Junction to Sweetwater. I didn't stop but I remember telling myself that this looks like a cool little town. The river going though town was pretty. So many random texas towns out there to see
I grew up there! I can’t even count how many summer days I spent out at eight mile. Love The Daytripper and this episode definitely sent me down memory lane.
I drive through Menard about 30 times a year. Have even landed at the local airport a few times. After watching your video I’m going to stop there and enjoy some of the local attractions. If I’m not mistaken, it used to be called Menardville.

I saw quite a few people I know! This is my hometown and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Chet your show is awesome.......you got "Texas Bucket List' and the newly hosted "TCR" beat. Keep up the great work sir.
This fort is the best in Texas
Great video. Terry Kelley is the go to history guy.
Agreed. A history legend.
Beautiful town! I'd love to see it for myself. Go Yellowjackets!! ✌️👊
I've driven through Menard going from Bandera to Abilene and only stopped for gas and snacks , guess I need to get started earlier so I can sightsee ❤

And before that, Summerland…
Gratz on 100k subscribers. Love y'alls show. Wished we had something like this for Louisiana.
Great episode...👍
Awesome! We have learned so much from this channel since moving to Texas in May.

Thank you for sharing. My friend has a ranch near Menard. Got to check out those restaurants!!
I was just there last june and swam in that spot. One of the best swim holes!
If you like to be left alone and see a fort go to the Presidio. Heck that whole area probably looks same as it did then. Still pretty sparse.
This ep shoulda been an hour long. Thanks again , love Thermos
P.s. you should go on a daytripp with The Beard that would be awesome!
@@kevinclick9026 The Beard?
Excellent!
& yes, that girl is a Boss!
Except, arugala.. YUCKY
Go to on the square bakery in Eden next!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love your videos but why does a grown man has goofy faces in all thumbnails?
Just Chet, being…Chet 👍🤠
Blame the "Mr. Beast" fake popularity engineered by TH-cam. The open-mouthed pedo face in a thumbnail = views.
