There are probably fees to rush a dress. But it was Bride's 'bright idea' to wear it before her wedding day, in a muddy park, .... Bride broke it, Bride can buy it. Maybe this is why they say it's bad luck to let the groom see the bride before the wedding.
@@jenniferdaniels701 And given that they DID take out a loan in order to buy it, I'd sure as hell be taking damn good care of it before the big day and not risking it getting damaged.
Oooh! That's a great point. I feel sorry for the bride's mom. She took out a _loan_ for the dress that her daughter so casually destroyed. Pampered Princess won't value anything unless she works for it herself. I hope she looks back on this and cringes at her behavior.
NTA. I would only pay for it if I was responsible for wrecking it because I believe in the “you break it, you buy it” mentality. But this was all on Tessa. My condolences at the loss of the dress, but she brought that on herself. Edit: this story also screams “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”
I've never understood people who think that bad mouthing someone is gonna get them to help you out. Regardless of it being this time or in the future. Sorry, if you're gonna talk crap about me, you can help yourself out of your messes. And this person sounds like she'll find herself in many of them. Get outta here bizzo.
IMO, she can get married in a $20 (or cheaper) white dress from Goodwill. Doesn't even have to be a wedding dress, just white(ish). That's her stupidity tax.
NTA- she's not mature enough to take care of a dress let alone get married! OP should say this and then say she'll foot the dress bill for her next wedding.
My first thought would be bride wanted an upgrade on the OG dress and ruined it on purpose. No sane person would do an outdoor multi person shoot before a dress had debuted and expect it to go well.
My best friend is the "rich" one among her many siblings. They do this to her all...the...TIME. "You SHOULD because you CAN! You're so selfish!" We laugh about it at this point because she completely stopped giving in several years ago...and they keep asking, which really just means they keep telling her she needs to do things for them. Also, they tell people she's rich because she sleeps with rich men for money. She's actually just an amazing marriage and family therapist. That girl needs to wear her original dress so the outside matches the inside.
I get that wedding dresses are expensive, but a loan? A LOAN?? You plan ahead for wedding dress oopsies, and you don't risk the dress until they day of the wedding...
Good parenting involves teaching your children that every choice they make brings a consequence. Thinking about the possible consequences is an essential part of decision making. Often the consequences are acceptable or desirable, sometimes the consequences are not - when you choose an action you’re choosing the consequence.
This was stupid either way, but she could have at least had the good sense to do it inside. Put some water in the glasses and pretend. She clearly has always gotten a bail out, time to FAFO
Maybe the neice needs to rent a dress????If I was Mum I would be angry with my daughter not my sister. NTA.Alternatively,if you do decide to try and keep the peace - you need to set a very strict and not high, budget. Then she might back off anyway.
OP is asking for a lot of future problems if she throws ANY amount of money at the niece's problem but she should demand a groveling apology from niece to family and on all social media BEFORE considering any help whatsoever. And make it clear that the assistance that she is withholding is due to the rudeness shown by the niece and how OP's name has been disrespected to family and the world. The dry cleaner would not be the only one having trouble getting mud out of something. You mess with someone's reputation, you fix it completely before getting help (and it would not be possible for the niece clean up all the trash she has been spewing in time for the wedding).
NTA. Tessa is a brat. I feel sorry for whoever is marrying into this mess. Bride is this way cause mom is this way. Mom is this way cause OPs mom enabled it.
NTA! Particularly how niece criticized aunt for not paying for this. Bride is in the serious Delulu corner If she's getting married in 2 weeks; she has zero chance of getting a new fabulous-as-the-original dress, because she's in sample-dress, 'abandoned' dress, off the rack dress territory now. I do NOT UNDERSTAND why brides do the "pre-wedding photo shoot" at all--I get that this was bride's brain fart idea here, but something similar happened to my best friend years ago, as recommended by her photographer, to give her and her guests more mingle-time at her actual wedding. Her hem got filthy (photos outside), and a bridesmaid's (not me, thank God) heel got caught in her tulle train and ripped it right up the center. She was tremendously lucky that Christian Dior replaced the tulle and laundered the hem. It was ready the DAY BEFORE the wedding! It was seriously TENSE. But she had a white suit (meant for their 'going away' on honeymoon outfit) she was going to wear if they couldn't complete the dress in time. Only thing this bride can do now is search for a better cleaner or a talented seamstress who could creatively fix the existing dress. Bride should have to pay herself for all the reasons Dusty said. In my friend's case, the photographer credited the bride towards the photo package to make up for the cost of his RIDICULOUS mistake.
It is not realistic to believe you can just go into a bridal salon and pick out a really nice wedding dress that will fit you properly two weeks before your wedding! It is realistic to rush to the dry cleaners, beg them to clean the dress the best they can, and then go to a seamstress to see what can be fixed/replaced/covered. Maybe it is because I have seen the bad side to too many people like her, but I have a strong feeling that the bride started to really hate her dress, someone thought up this plan, and it was all set up so OP would be there and hopefully offer to get her a new dress. Would not be surprised if they already found/ordered a new dress and she just needed someone to pay for it. OP could offer to go to a secondhand store to see what dress they can get for less than $50.
Agree to buy a new dress but the bride has to sign a contract stating that if the marriage end within 10 years then the bride has to pay it back with interest!
Nta, she shouldn’t pay for it at all but she should turn it around and put it on the family. Tell them something like “I’ll pay half if the rest of the family can get the other half raised up”.
First she made the choice to buy a super expensive dress Second it sounds like Tessa relied on her Mom and grandmonm to pay for it and not one red cent of her money went toward it Third she willingly wore a white dress to a park on a wet muddy day while drinking champine There's plenty of gorgous affordable dresses out there Let her buy one of those
They took a loan for a dress. 😂 That is the most stupid thing I've ever heard.

If she is so "young" to do something that dumb, then maybe she shouldn't be getting married 🤔
If I were the groom-to-be I'd look at her idiocy and back out before it's too late.
Oooh! That's a great point.

Niece would have lost me at trashing me publicly.
She could kick rocks Naw more mud lol😂😂
It's not funny, it's hysterical! 😂😂😂😂😂
Absolutely Nta! She wouldn't see a penny from me.
NTA!! Bride needs to pay for what she caused. About damn time she learns respect & responsibility.
NTA! Pay for the dress and she would become the family ATM.
Bingo!

I've gotten out of so many situations of "just suck it up and do it" by saying "ok then you do it if it's not a big deal" they shut up so fast
I've even volunteered the person/people saying to the person and shocker shocker they said no and got mad saying it's not their problem 😮😂
So what I'm hearing is: Everyone in the family can/should be chipping in"
exactly

@merlinathrawes746 I agree completely
NTA- she's not mature enough to take care of a dress let alone get married! OP should say this and then say she'll foot the dress bill for her next wedding.
Unless there's a MAJOR change in attitude, I wouldn't fund anything for her, now or in the future.
NTA. She pulled this stupid little stunt with taking her dress somewhere muddy with champagne and that has consequences.
My first thought would be bride wanted an upgrade on the OG dress and ruined it on purpose. No sane person would do an outdoor multi person shoot before a dress had debuted and expect it to go well.
I used to be a wedding photographer. People really are this stupid.

Another FAFO moment 😂

Dusty: it’s not funny
Me: (through giggle snorts at the picture in my head) oh yes it is
Hysterical!!! 😂 I used to be a wedding photographer and I would've laughed behind her back. Lol!

It is not only funny, IT IS FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!!!
You should laugh, bridezilla brought this on herself
Where do all these bizzos come from?!
Ascon space. Bizzos & brozos. They gotta stop sending them our way. We have too many here.
@@dustythunder Absolutely!
First comment! NTA. This is the wedding gown version of FAFO.

NTA. Tessa can go get herself a 200 clearance dress.
No accountability and nassive entitlement from her family. 🤮
DO NOT SUCK IT UP NTA

Never reward bad behavior 🤨
I hope she doesn’t cave. No way should she get this woman another dress.

WEDDING DRESS: SHE fucked around and found out! 🤷♀️ Her choices, Her responsibility. Period.
How bout say yeah sure no problem and get a dress from goodwill there is always at least 3 wedding dresses there

What if she didn't have money? What would've happened then? At the end of the day it's ok to say no. she could have a mud themed wedding lol
Who tf wears a wedding dress in muddy weather?
Nta, she shouldn’t pay for it at all but she should turn it around and put it on the family. Tell them something like “I’ll pay half if the rest of the family can get the other half raised up”.
Tell her ok let’s go to Walmart and you can pick your dress

NTA the family members than think OP should pay should put their money where their mouth is.... you can get a nice dress for $1000
Tessa is 24 yo. supposedly the brain is fully developed around age 25. I think she is going to take a little longer. Auntie is NTA.
I know a 27 year old girl who acts 16.
Every family member can chip in what they would have spent on a wedding present to a dress fund. It will be everyone's wedding gift to her.
No. Her family didn't ruin the dress. Tessa needs to learn to take responsibility for her own actions.
