@@plantsbymelissamy step mom and her brother and sister in law live in Brevard NC and they’ve lost power and don’t have cell service for about two weeks they’ve lost power like you. I’m waiting to hear how their property made it through it. She sent pictures of their lake flooded up to the access road to their place. So power and any services they need can’t get through it. I wish you well.
Melissa, I’m from an island off the coast of Texas your perishable are good as long as you keep the refrigerator closed so it can remain cold….Stay safe 🥰
Agree. Our stuff lasted til day 3 no power during beryl, then they had to go lol. Wouldn’t have lasted the full 9 days we didn’t have power-but couple days is fine just keep her closed
You did so well on your own and for such a long time without power Melissa. Thankfully the damage wasn't severe! Can imagine going through a tornado. In Sydney the worst we get are strong winds and flooding in lower lying areas. Our house is at the highest point of our street so we never get any flooding, just some tree debris. Glad all of your plants are doing so well and more importantly you have power. You made the most of an uncomfortable situation. And your neighbours are legends! 💪🙌🏻🫶
So glad to see you and the whisker babies are OK. Im a bit of a weather nerd and was following Ryan Hall's live stream (YT weather channel) all night and was very concerned for you when we saw #Helene shifted towards the East. You guys should definitely put together an emergency plan and get a small generator. Glad you had the vlog to preoccupy yourself and such wonderful neighbour's. ❤
As a European the tornado stuff sounds horrific. Looking forward to your maranta upsizes 😍 Stay safe out there and keep an eye on your kitties 🥺 Don’t know if it is usual for your city/state to get storms like that and run out of power but there are powerbank options and there’s also big ones that can charge your laptop multiple times ☺️
Glad that you guys are safe. Dry ice helps keep items cold in your refrigerator and freezer. You just have to limit the number of times doors are opened.
I've been watching your videos for over a year now I'm sure, and I know there were multiple tornado warnings issued for Savannah Thursday night. I live in Pensacola, FL (basically the only part of the panhandle that didn't really end up being affected by Helene), but I was definitely watching live coverage until after it made landfall. Anyway, I enjoy your videos, and I'm glad you're safe!
Thank you 🙏I was watching live coverage on TH-cam for as long as I could and I think it helped with my anxiety a little bit. The sirens were scary - I never had such a long time with them going off before. I'm glad we are okay here but I feel so bad for so many people 🥹❤
Ma'am... Why are you worried about filming for us when you literally have no power!? That's some serious commitment. I always knew you were amazing but this is a whole new level. 😂❤.
@@plantsbymelissa I can definitely see that. Also just with boredom in general because you can't really do a whole lot in the dark. I have the battery packs for my phone as well as I always make sure I have a car charger so I just go to my car and charge my phone when we lose power. I also keep a fully loaded battery pack thing in my car for inflating tires/jumping a battery and that also has USB ports to use/charge other items. just FYI. 🥰
I think you can cut some of your grow lights out when its full sun outside, but when its raining obviously then I would turn them on. The Anthuriums love low light, I think they’d appreciate it.
Nothing more uncomfortable than a powerless house! I had to do it for 7 days when Katrina (winds) came through Ohio in 2007 (can’t remember exactly when anymore). It was awful that is what I was so terrified yesterday for I thought for sure we would be down. God kept us up though and I am so happy!
Girl I am so sad that you were by yourself during this awful ordeal outside. I think your hubby was gone the last one too. No more out-of-town for him 😂. I am so glad you and your home came out of this terrible storm okay.
Hi Melissa 💫 Glad you and your property are safe! I’m in Jacksonville, Florida and the wind was the worst we got. I had multiple tree branches down, but luckily we didn’t lose power where I’m at but many areas were still without power today here. It was definitely the worse we’ve gotten in some time and I hope the next storm brewing in the Gulf decides to fizzle out, as we all need a break. Prayers as well to all those hit hard by this storm. I have family in Blackshear and she said perhaps a week before they have power as they were hit hard. Get some rest and I can’t wait for your next video!!! 🙏🏻💫
Melissa. I felt so bad for you I in the beginning of the video. I would have been scared to death. I live in Utah , but I was really wishing I could get there too you quick so you weren’t alone. It Is always better to have someone with you during those scary times. Way to be strong! 💪 I’m grateful you have sweet neighbors. Stay with them at night and eat with them! It’s always a good bonding experience between neighbors. I’m so glad you are safe. I am sorry you are going through this alone!
Thanks for the video. Glad all is well. I hope you didn't automatically toss out your non-perishables. They last longer in the fridge than you think, especially if you haven't opened the fridge much. The fridge will retain the coldness for a while. Since groceries are so expensive, make sure you're not tossing out perfectly safe food. I'm glad you and your kitties were able to weather the storm. I hope you make some adjustments so that you'll be more prepared next time.
I’m from east TN. It’s so bad here they are saying we have comparable devastation to what Katrina did up here. We could not prepare for this at all. The dams barely held. One did give way and so many interstate bridges are out.
Omg I hope you guys are all okay!! Sending you and your family good vibes, hopefully they'll restore power soon, praying all your variegated babies too!! 🤞🏻
We lost power at 7:30 Friday morning here in southwest Virginia. No cell communications either. We are fortunate to have a generator but power is the least of my worries knowing others have lost everythigg be. Our town and surrounding towns flooded and the devastation is real. Homes swept away, animals lost, businesses lost, road washed away. It reminds me of the flood we had in 1977. My heart goes out to all that have suffered loss.
You will be ok . Didn't know you were affected. Ive been watching your old vlogs all day. I watch you everyday I did get my Ikea greenhouse yesterday. You need a hug🤗 Don't forget you can change your cell in the car, and you should have a pull sting in the garage to open manually. Thank God for good neighbors you will be okay.
So glad you are safe. I'm in Australia and as soon as I heard about the hurricane my first thought was, I wonder how Melissa is. Thank you for the video, it put my mind at rest.
There’s different emergency kit recommendations online for hurricanes and other emergencies! It’s helpful to prep extra supplies and food for pets too! Please stay safe and take care 🤍
So glad your safe down there planty friend! We’re above you in north Ga roughly 2 hours above Atlanta and definitely got hammered pretty well here also! A lot of trees down and power outages! It’s been a bit crazy but weathered it through! Praying for everyone during this devastating time!
I'm so happy you're doing okay, and God bless your neighbors. Please make yourself an emergency storm kit. I was without power for 11 days after a hurricane when I lived in NC. It was unbelievable. ❤❤
I was in Hurricane Beryl back in July. Same thing happened to me with the food. Just went to the store a week before, spent like $300 and then had to throw it all away. Power was out for five days. Glad you're okay!
Pausing the video, now that you have daylight and warm coffee, to say we are thinking of you, Melissa. Home alone in a storm is no fun; so glad you have those helpful neighbors. I'm uber impressed with your work ethic: keeping on Keepin' On.
I thought about you hoping you were okay. I know how you feel. I cannot sleep when storms are around. The last hurricane caused us to have no power for almost a whole day. If you had my phone number you could call me any time you were in a storm and couldn't sleep. I know what that feels like. 😢
Kind of scary being home alone during a hurricane! Glad it wasn’t too bad for you and your Neighbour’s were looking out for you! Crazy how we don’t realize how reliant we are on electricity until we don’t have it for awhile!
It's so sad seeing the horrible damage from the storm. We got a bit of wind and rain here in NS canada, but seeing the videos and stories from people affected is so devastating 😭😭 the pets and wild animals affected is breaking my heart so much too 💔💔
I'm glad you are okay with the storms. You are very brave dealing with this without your hubby not being home. But yes, the Genaretor definitely helps a lot when hurricanes or bad storms each. We got two of them, one we bought from Lowe's one is hook up to the house. But you definitely have to get one is very useful during snow & and a storm each. But I'm glad your power is back on, too. Be safe on the road. There are many places that are very high in water right now. Never drive through high water ❤🪴👍
So glad you and the kitties are okay! I was a little worried about flooding since you have that water behind your house. Fingers crossed that your outside plants recover 🤞🏻
Glad you’re safe my son is a power lineman and he is in Florida now trying to restore power he sends us updates as to how bad things are when he goes on these storms him and his employees often have to sleep in their trucks thank goodness there are often kind people that will take them food and something to drink but there are often people that get mad because their power isn’t back on these guys work day and night and are doing the best they can 😊
I'm so sorry for anyone dealing with the devastating effects of hurricane Helene. My thoughts are with you and please be safe ❤
I'm with you on that ..I live in Tallahassee and I didn't loose power but many people did....be safe my darling

God will shelter you in the storm.
You should invest in getting battery backups for your electronics. I have multiple for my phone and iPad. 💚
Glad you're ok, I can't imagine being alone with that storm. Thank God you're ok.
I hope everything gets back to normal quickly. Stay safe and be well! Thanks for updating us. ❤
