Great idea. I’m looking for a way to get better lights too. I’ve got to large plants and it’s got grow lights clamped over the plant stand, making it more difficult to see the plants. What I’ve got works but there’s got to be a better way. I’m thinking of a three head grow light wired in to the over head on the ceiling.
I went with a "Net" goal this year. I said "No more than net 3 new plants". Lol. So if I give away or sell 6, that means I get a total of 9 new ones 😂. But honestly, I have so many plants and am at capacity.... And I dont give them up easily. (I have a few that Ive had for 30 years). Loved the alocasia chantrieri you showed-- so pretty. (And Im not hugely into variegated). All that said, my goal this year is actually to make each of my plants as healthy as it can be, to get as many into the perfect pot for them, and to find better ways to keep them in my house that looks beautiful, but also suits their needs. Hopefully by the end of the year, things here will be looking great!
My houseplant wish list contained a Hoya, of any kind, I particularly like the variegated with pink. I got my wish list plant on the 31st😅 so I guess I should make a 2025 one now! I love your channel and your energy is so calm and peaceful🫶 can’t wait to see what you have for us in 2025
Good morning Melissa. Somehow I missed this last night when I got home from my day at my sisters. We did our Christmas as my niece was out of the state at Christmas time. And then my other niece sick with a bad cold so they stayed home so we did it at two houses. We’d taken our gifts to them on the way to Nicki’s (my sister) place. We picked up the gifts from them. So we did Christmas via FaceTime. We used my nieces iPad and propped it up against a cat food bin. It worked as perfectly as it could. We just made sure that we could see them by turning the tube when it was out turn to open. I got a very compressed dog stair so my dog can continue to get on my bed. Sometimes when he goes to jump Up he can’t get up high enough and gals back To the floor. It ways a ton all compressed. I’ve got to get rid of the 120 year old rocker that had been my grandmothers when she was a child. I’ve got a nephew who has a one years old baby. I’d like to box it up and send to him. My daughter never had nor wants any kids. So this would bean a way to pass down something of the babies history to him. It would be his great, great grand mother.
I know it’s a far drive for you but Plantcon is coming to Orlando, FL February 22-23 and I’m sure there will be your wishlist plants, but also so many plant vendors will be there too! My friend and I are going and we cannot wait, but my wallet possibly can 😂
I've been drooling over the red spider for yeaaaaaars!!! Can't wait. Also, you yogurt and pomegranate breakfast looked so delicious I HAD to try and it has changed my life 😂 so good. I love philodendrons, I have a pink princess, she struggled a bit when I first got her but she has pushed out 7 new leaves, the variegation isn't really a lot but a few leaves look sprinkled pink, that's my favorite philodendron. Happy New Year 🎉 My wishlist is mostly unattainable plants (due to high prices), and aside from that it's mostly anthuriums and hoyas 😂 monstera & alocasia were my favourites when I first started collecting, but it's changing more to anthurium & hoya since part way through 2023 and now I'm fully obsessed with them 😊

HNY Melissa! Surprised to see that variegated P. Billietiae is not on your wish list. I was never keen on them (mostly because they were $13-15k for a 4-5 leaf plant here in Australia for a while), but randomly bought one now that they are about $800ish and -- wowsers -- they are a must for all in my opinion!
aw congrats on finally buying one 🫶 I remember when they were that expensive! I had a regular green one for a while and it honestly wasn't a favorite of mine so I ended up letting it go. The variegated ones are really pretty so maybe one day I'll want to get one ☺️

The variegated aurea micans is my all time favorite plant. I had a beautiful one that had super good variegation. But after I got it it just went downhill, never reverted but got a fungal infection and dropped all but like 2 leaves and a few damaged leaves, I tried cutting it to prop and out of 8 only 1 of the props took so 🤞the variegation comes back with this last one
Hi Melissa, I don’t have many on my wishlist either, a couple of Alocasia and Hoya. I’m more interested in taking care of my plants well,I do have quite a few. happy new year!! i could be wrong but i think the micans "pink" variegated is just sunstressed? you know how micans can get real pinky-burgundy in high light, kinda like that. i could be wrong im not a botanist or anything close to an expert but might be something to look into just in case you already have the plant you want. anyway thanks for the lovely video 💚

I’ve got a long wish list of Hoyas. But I’ll probably only got a few. Some are over $50 which is kinda my limit. I’m still in my I want them all phase.
I didn’t even know there is a Hoya Crassipetiolata variegated one. I have the normal and splash version. My Hoya wishlist still is the Hoya Wilbur Graves. The others are the Hoya Mathilde variegated which didn’t know there is one aswell. I also want a Hoya Obovata variegated splash. I want some rare Sansevieria aswell. Also came across a Hoya called Argentea Princess and is so pretty.
sorry yours came in with white too! 😩 It makes me wonder if this plant is known to produce more white with its corms or if it's just random. I took some variegated dragon scale corms off a few months ago and half of them came in white 🙃
I had a variegated frydek corm from my mother's plant and sure enough, it pushed 1 all white leaf and all the rest were white. I cut it back and still white. 😢
I did some research on the pink variegated micans cuz I wanted it so bad. The pink will leave within the first few months because it's just like the pink Congo, they add that chemical that makes it change colors it's not a real thing. Unfortunately it's not being talked about much like the pink Congo because that was such a huge scandal. I guess they're taking regular variegated micans and shooting it with that hormone. Only the base of your plant will be pink eventually that will leave. I was very bummed out to find this out. If you do some searching there's a couple of TH-cam videos about this.
