Dude.... Can you imagine how much of a miracle this moment would have felt like to Mark? The guy has been fighting the realization that he is for sure going to die, and that he will not be given the luxury of seeing the big miles stones in his daughters life. He won't get to see his daughters weddings, their graduations, his possible grandkids, anything like that. He will be gone for a majority of their long and hopefully happy lives. But out of nowhere, right near the end, he gets to see his daughters first steps. He gets to wake up out of his late stage cancer enduced nap, and he gets to see his daughters first steps. He got to see one more milestone before he goes. May we all be so lucky when our time comes.
I still cry when I see old episodes with Mark Greene. He's the type of doctor you want working on you and holding your hand. When they killed him off it was a gut punch.
I can still see my daughter's first steps. Today she is a grown woman, and getting ready to take her first steps into the real world after college. I will be immensely proud again when I see her do that.
So unfair. To see him go from being strong, robust, able to counsel Families of dying Patients and save them to this is not fair. Man I cried like a baby during this episode. Haven't watched ER much since then.
This scene, and all scenes with Salome, where probably easier for Alex and really fun because she didn't have to pretend it was her daughter, just that it was Ella and not Salome :) Alex is awesome
@Chocolateluvr1987 yes they should have... we're just so happy for him that he got to see that, but also sad that he couldn't pick her up, bursting with joy.
Up until I was 5 I had snow white hair and blue eyes. Then a,dark sansy blonde and hazel eyes with a blue/grey outline. When my hair came back at the end of chemo it was snow white again, dark sandy blonde, an ugly mousey brown and 8 years later, dark sandy blonde.
Amy Zankowitz Edwards actually asked the producers to kill off his character as he had no intention of returning to the show and didn't want to give false hope to the show's fans that a return might happen.
It's because the genes of their hair are reccessive. I have a friend shoes a redhead and his entire family is blond. That or she was the only baby actor they could find ;)
Thats soooo cute! but what still makes me think, is why Ella has blonde hair when Elizabeth has Red hair and Mark has burnett hair, its kinda weird lol but still cute :)
I couldn't stand Mark's character at the end. What I mean is his disposition became so uptight, & he really wasn't a pleasant person to be around. BELIEVE me, I undersand he's hurting, not feeling well @ all, & is out & out MISERABLE, but he didn't have to take it out on EVERYONE he came in contact with!! He made a snide, smart assed remark to one of the patient's. I mean really Mark, don't make everyone's life MISERABLE, because YOU'RE so miserable!! (JMO)
I have to say your comment does not resonate with me at all. But people do interpret and respond to the same thing differently, and here I am only pointing out that your interpretation and response to Mark at this point is different to mine :-)

Love your comment!
This is proof that you don’t need violence to make great television

I loved this show....I love Mark and everyone else...he played a convincing person who is dying...I cried and cried as if I really knew him
This show was the best. Still watch the reruns every morning before work.

I’m so angry that scene is cut for syndication. It’s a milestone Mark got to see.

Yes I too responded to this episode in the same way as you.
@Aisha right
Life is unfair..no on is immune to dying.ER was just keeping it real
Missing out!
Robust wrong word dummy
😢😢😢 Cómo llore Qué triste fue no verte más Me hiciste llorar mucho
They should have not deleted this scene , it’s something he can see his family
at least mark gets to see his daughter ella walk all by herself before he dies.
Ella in this episode is Alex Kingston daughter Salome. That sort of makes it extra cute :)
Elizabeth was the best thing on this show 💙💙

No sabía ese dato 👍
This all unfolded and shortly after my father was diagnosed terminal.
@Chocolateluvr1987 yes they should have... we're just so happy for him that he got to see that, but also sad that he couldn't pick her up, bursting with joy.
Happy birthday anthony for your wonderful 60 years and bring to an infinity to happiness and serenity from italian boy live in rome and I m fan of er
Plus, Anthony Edwards was blonde. Also babies can be really blonde but grow up to have brown hair.
True,I was blond untill I was 3 years old then I became dark blond XD
when i was 8 i had super blonde hair ,now i have light brown
Up until I was 5 I had snow white hair and blue eyes. Then a,dark sansy blonde and hazel eyes with a blue/grey outline. When my hair came back at the end of chemo it was snow white again, dark sandy blonde, an ugly mousey brown and 8 years later, dark sandy blonde.
Triste final no paro de llorar, la vida fue injusta😢
I never knew that.
I was so sad whn he died but if I was dying I would have my last days on an island too instead of a hospital
Today anthony 61 years
The priviledge of watching your child's first steps, and hearing their first words. Man, you just can't put a price on that❤❤
Happy birthday anthony alias mark from italian boy live in rome and I m fan of er
he lost the use of it because of the cancer
Why couldn’t he just have moved away 😭

Smart move on his part, totally correct on that assumption.
Shawn McLaughlin chyler Leigh did the same with her character Lexie when she left grey’s anatomy
He could have done like Andrew Lincoln in Walking Dead. He was the protagonist and went off withtout dying and without the intent to return.
So sweet ^^
Who cares about the hair color i got to see his daughter walk before he died..thats the important part
@Stinkyfart anyone who doesn't cry like a baby during this episode is made of stone. nice name by the way, :P
Call me The Stone Angel.
Siobanphotogirl so I can come to the house for rent on Sunday
Siobanphotogirl in the office tomorrow night and will get back to work at that has been white male
cancer
OMG 😥😣😯😣
When Mark left the show it went downhill
Hard disagree. There were plenty of great seasons and moments to come.
@D D the actor Anthony Edwards chose to have his character Mark Greene killed off as didn’t have the intention of returning.
It's because the genes of their hair are reccessive. I have a friend shoes a redhead and his entire family is blond.
That or she was the only baby actor they could find ;)
The baby was Alex Kingston's baby in real life.
Thats soooo cute! but what still makes me think, is why Ella has blonde hair when Elizabeth has Red hair and Mark has burnett hair, its kinda weird lol but still cute :)
Recessive genes.

I couldn't stand Elizabeth by that point.
