When Dr. Greene told Katie that she was his last patient, and Dr. Greene told Dr. Carter, "You set the tone, Carter", I cried. He was a good doctor, and a good man. He didn't deserve to die from that damn tumor. He deserved to see both of his daughters grow up, get married and have kids. He deserved to see Rachel become a great doctor and hear Dr. Carter tell Rachel, "You set the tone Rachel". Mark Greene would be so happy and proud of both of his daughters.
Between 1999 and 2007 NBC had the two best written showes on television in E.R. and The West Wing. Totally different universes but great in their own way. We might not see television that good again.
Anthony edwards brought a lot of humility and heart to his role as dr. Mark greene. His character death is still one of most impactful on primetime television and still is felt to this day. Thank Anthony for giving us one of the most human character on small screen
Oh man... The time I watched the last episode with Mark, I almost cried my eyes out. Jeez, he had a good history. And the hospital/series was never the same after he was gone. And here I am again, tearing up again.
oh danm, I cant stop the tears from flowing. I watched the Good Wife due to Julianna Margulies and then later in the series Maura Tierney turned up for a decent part and it was awesome seeing them together again.
Hathaway and Ross may have been the couple of the ER, but Greene and Carter were the heart and soul. For me their absence was missed the most. I expect people watching this won't be spoiled by this information, I absolutely loved that they brought Rachel back for the finale. It was full circle but also a little twist. In a way a little bit more of Greene was back where they belonged.
I’d agree with Greene and Ross! They were a dream team! I also LOVED that Benton was working in the hospital when Carter got his kidney transplant. And when Frank just had a sad look when Rachel made him aware she was Dr. Greene’s daughter and his face spoke volumes.
Beautiful. And so beautiful that ER went full circle with Mark’s daughter Rachel turning in to the new Dr. Greene. And Frank looked like he’d seen a ghost.
Literally the first words spoken in the first episode were "Dr. Greene, you have a patient '" and the last words spoken in the last episode were "Dr. Greene, you coming?"
Mark Green was ER and I always try to remember this is just a show but when you have a cast as amazing as this you cant help but feel like they are an extended family member
I'd stopped watching ER sometime after 2000, just because of life. SOMEHOW, I just happened to catch the very last episode when it aired in the UK. Glad I did.
I like how all these doctors weren't perfect. They all had flaws. Which made them human. No over the top drama. Just realistic issues and growth that they all went through. Never let your work become your life. And never forget, you set the tone.
Beautiful video! I was on the verge of tears until you played Somewhere Over the Rainbow and I lost it. After all these years Dr. Greene's death still gets to me.
One of the best television shows of all time. And absolutely the best medical show. I’ve rewatched through ER only twice. First time was 8 years ago and secondly November’22 til last week. Same emotions. Amazing. And the last scene of the last episode is pretty much perfect
