When Dr. Greene told Katie that she was his last patient, and Dr. Greene told Dr. Carter, "You set the tone, Carter", I cried. He was a good doctor, and a good man. He didn't deserve to die from that damn tumor. He deserved to see both of his daughters grow up, get married and have kids. He deserved to see Rachel become a great doctor and hear Dr. Carter tell Rachel, "You set the tone Rachel". Mark Greene would be so happy and proud of both of his daughters.

Hathaway and Ross may have been the couple of the ER, but Greene and Carter were the heart and soul. For me their absence was missed the most. I expect people watching this won't be spoiled by this information, I absolutely loved that they brought Rachel back for the finale. It was full circle but also a little twist. In a way a little bit more of Greene was back where they belonged.

I’d agree with Greene and Ross! They were a dream team! I also LOVED that Benton was working in the hospital when Carter got his kidney transplant. And when Frank just had a sad look when Rachel made him aware she was Dr. Greene’s daughter and his face spoke volumes.

I miss this show, especially Eric LaSalle. My male tuxedo cat is named "P. Benton" ("Benton") after his character.

Oh man back in the days first time it aired I only watched from season 6 cos maybe was too young earlier then Carter and Greene were my favorites. And it sure was super sad to see Mark die. But now when I just rewatched from the start, oh man Marks death was even worse to see how much he had difficulties in her personal life and that he had so short time to be happy it just makes me so sad. And yet again now Greene is my absolute favorite 😢❤️ Still havent seen it after Carters exit, but now I think I will have to give it a try. I have seen the clips from the finale of course and ftom Carters return.

Sucks all of the big original casts left except for Susan and the other staff. When they all left so as the soul of the show left with them too.

When Carter said to Morris "You Set The Tone" was jocking, right???
Because Morris was pretty lame for setting the tone.

Was Mark in the Armed Forces? Gallant is in his Class A uniform at the funeral. Even if Mark wasn't it was still cool.

Watching clips before I dove into the show, I knew Mark was going to die but when I watched the actual episode, I cried. Mark was the heart of the show. Anthony Edwards was so amazing at capturing and making the character. I miss seeing him on screen.
Don't get me wrong, I love Carter just as much, seeing him become as passionate as Mark really shows how great a doctor he was. Carter has become Mark. He has set the tone.

Totally think Mark with Benton and Ross and Carter were super starting up this show! I cried so much as Mark deteriorated and watched his funeral my whole heart broke.
