So in the original Nordic religion, Angregoda was one of Loki's lovers. Jormungundr, Fenris, and Hel (or Hela) were their kids - which gave her the nickname "the Mother of Monsters" and that's the nicest. These timelines are confusing.
Fenrir is obviously made as he’s in this scene, the snake in her grandmothers house they put the giant in is Jormungundr cause she mentions in Muspleheim that the snake is getting bigger quickly and we saw Thor send Jormungundr back in time at the end
They actually acknowledge all of this in the game. Loki "creates" Jormungundr and Fenrir thanks to what he learned from Angrboda. There's something between her and Atreus. And they set up in post story dialogue that the big crow in helheim wants to retire and when they do there will need to be a suitable replacement that can be trusted to take up the name of Hel and replace them.
And the fact we get to play Atreus in this game means in the next one Freya will most likely be a fully playable char Hell this also means that we could get spin off games of just Atreus and his travels
Or they could look at the witcher with Triss and Yennefer. If Atreus grows up and gets his own game, It would be a waste to not give players the choice to pick. after they managed to set it up so nicely.

He asks Kratos and Mimir what to do to know if a girl likes him back, and Mimir assumes he means Thrud (cuz shes the only girl they know Atreus knows) and he swats the idea down, clearly meaning to ask about Angrboda but being unable to because her existence was a secret. Besides its clear in the gameplay which girl Atreus has a thing for. With Angrboda, hes fumbling for words half the time, trying to figure how to get closer to her. With Thrud, its like hes talking to a trusted friend and makes no advances at all.
