God of War Ragnarök is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game will be set in ancient Scandinavia and feature series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. Serving as the finale to the Norse era of the series, the game will cover Ragnarök, a series of events that bring about the end of days, and depicts the deaths of some of the Norse gods, which was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Æsir god Baldur.
Taking place three years following the events of the previous game, Fimbulwinter, a great winter that spans three summers, is drawing to a close which will begin the prophesied Ragnarök. Kratos and his teenage son Atreus begin to traverse the nine realms to seek out a means to prevent Ragnarök while attempting to uncover answers behind Atreus' identity as Loki. Their journey will lead them to Týr, the Norse God of War who was previously believed to be dead. Their conflict will lie with Thor, the Norse God of Thunder who seeks revenge following the deaths of his half-brother Baldur and two sons Modi and Magni; Odin, Thor's father and King of the Norse Gods; and ally-turned-enemy Freya, who seeks revenge following the death of her son Baldur.

I just adore how soft and kind Kratos is after the ending. He's genuinely warm and welcoming to Angrboda.
When she says that Atreus draws well but needs discipline, Kratos straight up says "I like you" - a very sweet moment and great characters.

even to thrud. despite not knowing her and the fact that she’s his enemy’s daughter, he knows to trust her because atreus does, so he acknowledges her good fighting. he’s become everyone’s dad.

As funny as it would be, I'm glad they stuck with Kratos just calling Mimir by his name. Even in this situation. I think it speaks VOLUMES about the respect and general compassion Kratos has for him now.

I think Atreus will be faraway for the next game. Away from Angrboda. If he is the next protagonist, that's going to be one of his inner troubles. Missing Kratos, Mimir, Angrboda, and his guilt to what happened to Sindri and Brok.

Well, they are the "parents" of three creatures and we haven't seen one of them yet, makes me curious if Hel would be their real child if they choose to have a time skip in the next game
If there is another game with kratos as the main protagonist, it will probably be a prequel that rests between the old GOW 3 and GOW 2018.

Post Game Kratos was such a treat to listen to and see how far he's come
A family doesn't have to be a mom, a dad, and a child. A family can be a dad, a head, a mom, and a very large puppy.
So in the original Nordic religion, Angregoda was one of Loki's lovers. Jormungundr, Fenris, and Hel (or Hela) were their kids - which gave her the nickname "the Mother of Monsters" and that's the nicest.
These timelines are confusing.

Fenrir is obviously made as he’s in this scene, the snake in her grandmothers house they put the giant in is Jormungundr cause she mentions in Muspleheim that the snake is getting bigger quickly and we saw Thor send Jormungundr back in time at the end
They actually acknowledge all of this in the game. Loki "creates" Jormungundr and Fenrir thanks to what he learned from Angrboda. There's something between her and Atreus. And they set up in post story dialogue that the big crow in helheim wants to retire and when they do there will need to be a suitable replacement that can be trusted to take up the name of Hel and replace them.

Atreus actually has an ingame line where he says straight up he doesn’t see Thrud that way, and that Skjöldr has a crush on her.
He asks Kratos and Mimir what to do to know if a girl likes him back, and Mimir assumes he means Thrud (cuz shes the only girl they know Atreus knows) and he swats the idea down, clearly meaning to ask about Angrboda but being unable to because her existence was a secret.
Besides its clear in the gameplay which girl Atreus has a thing for. With Angrboda, hes fumbling for words half the time, trying to figure how to get closer to her. With Thrud, its like hes talking to a trusted friend and makes no advances at all.
I was seriously hoping for a scene where they all teamed up during Ragnarok

I really hope we get a little Atreus DLC or something, of him searching for the rest of the giants.
Would also be nice to one day be able to play god of war in co-op, maybe one plays Kratos and the other Atreus or something... a lot of possibilities! Can't wait to see what this universe has in store for us
