    The galaxy bandeau outfit was one of my faves! The idea of layering it under something you never would have seen it with in the 2010s-a denim vest-made it feel current bc it wasn’t so clearly 2010s galaxy print anymore, but more of a general abstract print.

      I loved them when I was a kid but they aren't flattering on me now. I did quite like it with the denim dress though, turned the texture into an accent, just like the zebra outfit. Red looks great with black and white! I think perhaps if we had more than just long/short sleeved crew neck popcorn shirts, more of us would wear them. I dunno, maybe a vest, maybe partial popcorn texture and another part smooth or even sheer sleeves- ah but who knows. Did they ever come out with patterns even or has it always been solid? A cherry or floral.. maybe even cute mushrooms.. sorry sorry

    @LunaR2017 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I am saying this as a non fashionable, late 80s baby- I feel like you really respected those green swirly pants with the retro white boots. (Quite frankly, flares/ bell bottoms are my absolute favorite pants style. I don't care what anyone says.) The beauty of our current era is that we have access to so many past generations' styles and trends. My mom was born in the mid 50s and loves that she can safely revisit different era pieces and no one cares! You were a square if you wore something from a prior decade. I like your approach and willingness to try pieces you may not have liked the first time around- and you're for sure allowed to have an unchanged opinion. I like buying things second hand and even hand-me-downs from older generations in my family- not necessarily always vintage but just someone with a differing style. I truly believe clothing items and accessories look different on everyone. We all have different personalities and carry ourselves differently. It's fun to make something unique to you. Perhaps I'll eventually take the time to learn how to make/alter my own clothes. My clothing tastes are all over the board - 40s, 60s, 70s, geeky t-shirts, any piece of jewelry that held sentimental value to a loved one. I wait forever to choose and it's purely coincidental if I like something trendy. I'm an introvert that is thoughtful with the details of outfits - I would never claim to be good at it but I enjoy the process and the occasional nostalgia, even if just vicarious. Okay, chatty introvert has written too much. Have a good evening! Off to rabbit hole into more videos. :)

    Omg I loved this video so much!! I’m gonna write a long comment, I’m so sorry, but I loved so many things!
    First of all, Justice girlies unite!!! I don’t think I’ll ever grow out of my love for sequins and all things glitz and glam.
    I am the queen of tunics, I will wear them til I die. They provide such fun layering opportunities; you could layer a long skirt under it and top it with like a cropped shirt layer or a flowy vest and some belts; the possibilities are endless!!!
    If I were styling the galaxy bandeau, I would probably wear a turtleneck underneath it (either a solid neutral color or a small print like ditsy florals or pinstripes to contrast the big galaxy print) tucked into some wide leg or flare pants in either a contrasting color like red or yellow or an analogous color like green or purple, and probably the same shoes as you. Maybe add a sheer layer on top.
    I love the outfits you created for the psychedelic pants!! I feel like this trend was just an updated version of the marble trend that was so popular for a hot minute.
    I don’t think I’ll personally ever go back to jeggings, but you styled them pretty cute; if someone still has them, I think it’d be worthwhile for them to try to make it work in their wardrobe still.
    10/10 video, I look forward to your videos every week!! One of my fave TH-camrs.

    These videos are so fun! I will say that I think there’s a difference between what’s outdated vs what’s trendy. Like I wouldn’t say long cardigans and cheetah print are “outdated” necessarily but they’re not trendy either? I think they’re too much rooted in “classic” fashion to ever be completely passé. Tunics, sequins & culottes are a toss-up depending on the style (like that red boot outfit was fabulously executed and not at all outdated imo). I think the only ones that are viewed as extremely outdated (across most generations) are galaxy print, popcorn tops & jeggings because they’re so niche and more of a shortlived fad than a longer-running trend.

BUT, I think the way that you have been doing this series shows that you don't actually have to feel bad about your wardrobe and "outdated styles" at all and can keep these fashions in your wardrobe.

Style that with your hair straightened, parted and gelled back at the front and long, silver, rhinestone chandelier earings and a little black bag. Lime green earings or citrine yellow if or Valentino pink hoop earings if you wear with the Docs. Well... that's what I would do 😄

    Yay for tunics with shorts and short skirts! I have no problem wearing them with anything, but this is the first trend shows me a smart way to wear a short shorts or a miniskirt in cold weather. I can pair it with tunic and leggings for fall and early winter and that high-low look will make it work well, while it stays warm and has the usual seasonal leg coverage.

    Alexa, thank you for this video. As an older person, it feels weird to see trends from my younger years becoming en vogue again. Some of them I love - like chunky shoes. Some eeehhh not so much - miniskirts, etc. I do live my life and dress unapologetically, because the only person who has to be concerned about what I wear is me. Toodles.

    I’m a millennial and live in skinny jeans with tall boots in the fall/winter. Especially those superrrr skinny jeans. Throw on a big top and some tall boots and you are good to go.
    Also all jeans needs holes in the knee! Loll

    You really good at doing almost the impossible in styling all kind of thing that others might have looked over while thrifting. I have about 2 accordion tops, this work good for me because I am rather large in the chest and these tops looked like fun. That bandeau would have looked really good layered over a button up shirt or a fitted pulled on top or over a dress to add and give it a statement. Designers are influence by what they have seen, or experience and you should not be surprised that runway can be coming from street style photos as their muse. So, we all should be dressing all for self-expression. I am 60 and I feel like I actually seen it all at this point and so this Fall/Winter, I going to try to experiment and have some fun with it. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.

    Still having long open cardigans, I'm saving your new idea to style them for sure!
    Also, I LOVE galaxy print (as an astronomy enthusiastic), and I hoped it would never go out of style, and now you can't find items with this pattern at all! (unfortunately my few items with this print have being worn out after a few years so now I don't have any :()

    • @LunaR2017

      Yay, someone that likes galaxies for astronomy or even scientific reasons! Sure, it's beautiful but I have my geeky reasons too. One trend for items with constellations (well for multiple decades really) has been zodiac related. I don't dislike astrology, or even sci-fi (I mention because of the large amount of green men when searching for space themed things to buy.. I myself am partial to xenomorphs and Timelords lol but that's not my point) but we need more things that celebrate the beauty and incredibly interesting aspects of space. I have reused my favorite galaxy image as my phone lock screen for 4 phones now. Would love to have galaxy clothes that don't fade quickly!

    For the galaxy print bandeau, to show the print maybe wear something sheer over it!

    • @alexasunshine83
      @alexasunshine83  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I don't really own anything sheer that would look good with it like I have my white sheer nightie that I think over a floral or just different patterned bandeau would have worked, but it just looked off with the galaxy print. Definitely should have thought about the styling a little bit more, but everything I put with it just didn't work whereas I think galaxy print leggings could be more fun to style!

    • @faithjx3
      @faithjx3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexasunshine83 I wouldn’t have anything sheer to put either but in my head maybe a sheer button down would be cool. I still like the outfits you put together though even if the Jean vest hid the pattern a bit I liked the contrast with the Jean!
