My father introduced us to the ocean, foraging, fishing, netting, diving, and cooking over a fire after. Now, to be able to do this with my grandsons is exciting and fun. Your camera person always does an excellent job. Keep doing it bro, your a master out doors.

WARNING for non-cooks. If you're dipping the brush directly into the sauce and rubbing it onto the raw fish, that's okay, but make sure you do NOT reuse the sauce and bacteria will accumulate that have the potential to make you very sick. If you want to save leftover sauce, first pour it into a custard dish and dip into that and dispose of it when you're done. Do NOT return it to the fresh batch.

My dad and I poke poled for eel up and down central coast 65 years ago
Few other Anglos fished for them which was fine for us!
How great it would have been to know the unagi style preparation
I can’t fish reefs now but maybe the jetty
    Thanks for great memories

Greetings from Thornton Colorado. I think I would like the Monkey Face better for the very reason you stated. Since I enjoy seaweed flavor and that’s their diet it just makes sense. So in this instance you get to taste the fish with the sauce . Also I like the look of low carbon steel on some of my knives. Was yours handmade? If it was where can one purchase at a reasonable price? Good times, good food........ priceless.

Bro, I live in Japan and watch a lot of fishing vids, so I guess that's why your vid got recommended, but you can imagine my surprise when I heard you speak, obviously born in America or at least lived there most of your life.

So we have freshwater eel here MA and I'm thinking maybe I need to learn to harvest em this year cuz I freaking love unagi. Would it be similar cleaning/preparation?

Dude. You’re an inspiration I’m from wv and I’ve been making sushi with trout, came across this page! I’m so inspired! Maybe some day I could join you on an adventure! Also the fact you taught those kids so much more than you realize made my day!

New sub here. You're the type of dude you make a friend and keep a friend. Having a homie that will take you on a successful fishing trip and cook up a bomb ass meal afterwards??? Win win. Invite me over for a catch and cook video with a fan. I'll pay for my own flight out there lol
