My 8a arrived on Wednesday; I upgraded from a OnePlus 6t that I had for over five years and let me tell you the difference is amazing between the two phones. Google def has me hooked as a customer right now, plus Im going through Google Fi and the service is good here in northeast ohio.
Bugs with most monthly upgrades aside...I can't leave the Google Pixel hardware platform because I'm addicted to the computational photography. I've had four Pixels over the past near-decade...and I'm pretty sure I'll be on Pixel as long as I have a cell phone.
I love my 7a. It's perfect as my daily driver and for casual family photos. The battery life disappoints me from time to time, but I still plan to hold on to the 7a. Let's see how the 9a turns out.
I ended up pre-ordering the Pixel 8A for my mom who's coming from a Pixel 6A. Breaking it down in price as Damien did here with the 7 years of support. Makes a lot of sense. $70 a year for 7 years isn't too bad, especially if you're upgrading from the Pixel 6A Also, keep in mind that if you do a trade-in right now that's currently a promotion to get $100 in Google Store credit and putting that towards a Pixel stand would be great, especially since the pixel 8A has wireless charging. Lastly, great job on the video! Once again, I'm absolutely loving the progression of Google's Hardware design. Makes me want to lean into a more colorful color for my next Pixel Pro upgrade.
Sounds like you work for Google.😁 Imo buying a Pixel 8a is a terrible deal right now. Google has a reputation of not supporting previous Pixel devices year after year so the 8a will be on the Gemini Ai back burner in less than 5 months come Pixel 9 event. Buying anything but a new Pro model Pixel phone will guarantee you don't get half the software support Google has to offer.😎👍
Don't work for Google, just a satisfied customer for a decade now. I stand by my observation that a Pixel "A" phone would be a great choice for aging parents...and they surely won't GAF about AI-anything or if Google supports it going forward.
@@jevonsims900 Hey Jevon, my parent's currently have the Pixel 6a and absolutely love it. I get what you're saying. The Pro model Pixel phone will guarantee all features, but for people that are impatient in receiving all of the features, like my parents, the Pixel A-series work well.
Still using the Pixel 4a 5G, doing okay on daily basis. It's the last generation that can use the Google fabric case. That's why I still using this phone.
I really want to try this phone. I had the 6A & 7, but always go back to my iPhone Mini. I’m tempted to order to see what the phone is like to hold in the hand
I'm really interested in the 8a , but for now I'm gonna hold on to my 7a. The photo ai features aren't that important to me. I am interested in the 7 years of updates, but that's just not enough for me to make an upgrade so soon.
I used the Pixel 7a for about five months. Afterwards, I switched to my an iPhone 12 mini and then tried out the S23FE most recently. I recently sold the S23 FE and put my sim card back into the 7A. To be honest, I now wished I would have kept the S23 FE and sold the 7A. The slow charging, heat retention, poor battery life and slower processer of the 7A in comparison to the S23 FE cannot be experienced by spec sheet and video alone. I immediately notice the difference 😢.
I won't lie I bought the 7a around August and had for a good 9 months 8a comes out see the reviews and I get the 8a right away I traded my 7a and ended up getting the 8a for 325$ which to me is a steal and let me twltu the screen is an upgrade for sure! I love the bay color on mine and the design now and most importantly the 7 year upgrades I'm gonthave this phone for a good while now especially how phones are not meaning as much now especially with the upgrades now
Sounds like you made a good choice,@@royolmedo7941. I considered the P7a > P8a upgrade, primarily because Google offering $200 for my year old P7a on trade-in is a fairly good deal. But given that I'd still be paying just over $300 (as you did)...for essentially a colorway upgrade (I do love that aloe!) and an upgraded screen...I couldn't justify that upgrade price. The extra years of support are for sure a perk...but since I typically upgrade every other year anyway, that isn't as attractive to me as probably the majority of users.
I get the 8a with a trade-in for 342€. And love it. Also purchased the Pixel Watch 2. But to be true it is not my main phone. That’s the iPhone 15 Pro together with that Apple Ultra Watch. But for now I use the Pixel to see if a switch to the 9 Pro later this year makes sense to me. But after a week the battery is not bad so far, the software is so much nicer and feels much better then iOS and except the size I like the watch as well. So let’s see what future devices will be and if it worth buying that Pixel 9 Pro to make a switch!
😅 Damn… the same as me. Main phone is an iP 15P and on Monday the 8a will be delivered. Gifted my Brother an 8 Pro in March and that’s what catched me. Really interested in the Pixel 9 Pro tho.
I prefer the look of the 7a tbh the upgrades are worthless imo if u have the 7a im jumping to the 9 series which one im unsure but im skipping the 8 series im enjoying and happy with what my 7a offer's
I like the new aloe colorway on the P8a quite a bit...but given how much is similar between the P7a and P8a (particularly in the camera hardware), and because I still LOVE the coral colorway that I bought for my P7a...I'm staying put for now. I'm definitely considering the P9 Pro this fall, though...I'd still like to also have a telephoto lens on my Pixel, without having to opt for the behemoth larger version of the phone.
i think is US only atm. which is rly weird. therefor insane that they are allowed to even sell the device outside of the US market with false advertising. u can sideload it without a problem but thats still doesnt justify the fact.
I was about to "pre-order" the 8a, as an upgrade from the 6a (which I love) but am pleased I didn't when I played with one in a John Lewis Store, in the UK on Tuesday. Bezels aside, the corners feel "weirdly" bulky to me and make the device seem asymmetrical. I'm probably going to save up for the 8, or wait till it drops in price again. Although, I think that GiffGaff are selling the 8 for £499 still! 😉😉
At this point you might as well just wait for the Pixel 9. Google have already stated numerous times that their newest devices will get their newest AI software. Google is going to leave the Pixel 8/8 Pro behind come next Google Pixel 9 event.
@@jevonsims900 I hear you. But, looking at the leaks for the 9 (and the possible price) I find the touted switch to a "camera island" on the back really unappealing. One thing Google had over Apple was a "solution" to those hideous camera bumps. Still, it should be a challenge for case makers, as there seems to be very little on the sides of the islands! 😉😉
Funny you mention that. I feel like I'm an anomaly...in that I'm not a tremendous fan of the "rounded-out" corners of the P8a. I like them, but just don't love them like apparently most users do. In comparison, the P7a does seem "boxier," however, it's still a very comfortable phone in the hand.
I just got the pixel 8a (after I tried my friend 7a) and I noticed that the 8a still have the old volume slider (from before the march feature drop), while it's on a newer version (may update). It's a bug, or they forgot to change it in the 8a?
I love the back design of Pixel 8a, but I'm not a big fan of the increase amount of bezels in the front. For $499, you might as well get the regular Pixel 8.
that was dumb u could have waited for the updates on your 6a to finish first. That would have been probably another 2 years. Given u couldn't even wait for that I highly doubt you'll have the 8a in 7 years but good luck u definitely wasted some money. Add to that almost every android version is the same 😂😂
You're not wrong. It's certainly not a selling point for me. I've started to force myself to use Gemini as my default assistant on my my P7a just to get used to it, but it still can't compete with Google Assistant. (Unpopular opinion, I'm sure.)

Please do a comparison of 6a vs 7a vs 8a

Pixel 6a is an excellent phone, the best-selling Pixel of all along with the 7 and 7 Pro, awaiting my Pixel 8a Obsidian.
Still using the Pixel 4a 5G, doing okay on daily basis. It's the last generation that can use the Google fabric case. That's why I still using this phone.
Why does the newer phone have thicker bezels??? Also, why is the 7a still $499 on Google’s website???
it's 299.00 now!

Would you believe I'm mostly staying with my P7a...because of the coral colorway? Man, I just LOVE that...and I'm not ready to give it up. ;)
its not worth the upgrade, wait to see how much the improvement on the new modem on the tensor 4 is..

battery life?
wait for Pixel 15
I am here for it I picked up my pixel 8a yesterday 😊

Funny how you call the 8a more refined when I think the 7a looks better.
Had the 8a-worked flawlessly, but the screen was a little to small for me, coming from a 13 Pro Max. So, brought it back, and going to get a 9 Pro XL.
Google subtly went back to the pixel one design
which was a banger imo
Is it just me or are the bezels on the 8a even bigger than the 7a??
Agree, looks even bigger then from the 7a.

Gemini still isn’t available in the UK so using that as a selling point seems pretty odd.

what you mean, can't download Gemini from PlayStore or what?

The 8a is a big option for starters.
It seems like its only worth upgrading to the 8a if you are coming from an older phone.
definitely going to pick up 8a by the time 9a coming out.
time to consider getting the 7a now :)
This might be the last A series tho
Im enjoying the 7a but tbh im thinking the 9 not 9a this time
Hmm. I got a Pixel 7a last month and it has Magic Editor. I think it came in an update.

Agree
I pre-ordered the phone in india. Upgraded from pixel 6a to 8a just for that 7 years of update.
I cancelled it because I'm struggling with my 6a. Hangs and heats sooo much.
53k too much will wait congratulations btw 🎉
Still rocking the 6a, battery is little bit of an issue but no lag whatsoever & will stick to this for another 2 years probably...

what's the point if you don't share the samples?????????????
Those bezels on the 8a or horrible. I have a 7a for work and dont need to upgrade. I have an 8pro for personal usage.
The Pixel 8a is so prettyy 🥺❤️
Where's the upgrade that makes Tensor and the cellular modem not suck anymore?
8a bezels looks thicker than 7a
Against the 6a would be better tbh
Pixel 7a same price like 8a at google store uk for trade in
$70 a year... or u could just buy an a35 for $360 and use it as needed with a bigger screen and battery 🥺
I upgraded to 8a from pixel 7
That ugly bezel💔😓
Team Pixel 8a❤
All the AI crap coming to these phones I couldn't care less. I will disable all these features because they are useless to me
Then dont get a phone sold mainly on its AI features? 🤣

1st, nice
If bezel is small and battery big means i will buy this. So i have to wait till Pixel 10A or more i think🥲😂
This is the last 'a' phone. Buy P10 when Google goes with TSMC.
