I have gone to sleep to this show literally every single night since 2017. I can't sleep without it. This show is embedded in my soul, I could actually resight every line from every single scene. The good place has altered my brain chemistry. So underrated

The first episode of season 2 immediately ends the “attempt two” we thought season 2 would be following… and then the third episode ends “attempt three”, before running through *seven hundred and ninety nine more.* All because Michael decided to keep trying after Eleanor’s note. These two episodes kept finding new ways to subvert any and all expectations for the series, completely setting them apart in the process.

Glad to see the Trolley Problem’s and Time-Knife’s cold opens here! I’ve always seen Michael’s “how do you kill all six” as an iconic moment of the season (especially paired with his amazing drawing), and the “I know, it’s IHOP” high-five might never leave my brain RAM. “But they all look good…” I never get tired of watching these, glad this video exists to appreciate them!
@stasis168 What I found poorly written about that episode is that Michael is an ancient demon who has erased Chidi's memories. So Chidi has no idea what the nature of existence is and yet, because he has a PHD he thinks he knows more about ethics than the ancient demon who is manipulating his reality. The writers really dropped the ball on that one.

The idea that Michael has a greater understanding of ethics just because he's older or more powerful is the flawed idea. The reality is Michael knows nothing about ethics because he has never once considered it a single day in his life since he hasn't needed to. He cares nothing for lives, only being interested in people's suffering at the start. There is zero reason for the thought of ethics to have ever crossed his mind as a character. He literally thinks the point of the exercise is to kill all the people for crying out loud. You really need to think things through more. You're not finding flaws in the writing but flaws in your own thinking and understanding.

Support the creatives and actors behind this in their new projects and hope we get more shows _like_ The Good Place, but don't ask for more Good Place, because it's already near perfect as is. Anything more will ruin the entire point of the show.

Meanwhile you're somehow confused that Michael who was in fact objectively evil at the start doesn't understand ethics as much as Chidi, come on now. The villain of the series was the system that didn't account for humans being humans and the complexities of everyday life. Hell she literally bent space and time to give them a chance to make their point and let them stay on Earth even after she decided they had failed due to excessive meddling and heard them out even after that again and again. Like she was bending over backwards to hear them out and give them chances from her position because she needs something to rule on, because her function is literally the judge. You know a show can be good and you just not like it right? You don't have to tear something down just because it wasn't for you. No one's tastes are an objective measure of quality and most people suck at being impartial, hence why you confuse someone impartial as villainous. Personally I'm perfectly happy to admit when something I enjoy is objectively not very good, this isn't one of those cases. Though if I had one criticism personally I would say it's actually not very subtle about its discussions on moral philosophy like its not a deep show, but it tells a good story and makes its points well and the character work is easily on of its strongest aspects. Which is why your criticisms where you miss literally everything is so baffling, they made this show very accessible but you missed a lot of details. Maybe binge watching really wasn't a good idea for you.

@astergh0st This is such a poorly written show that rips off 90 percent of its afterlife ideas from Christian theology then claims the Christians only got 5 % right, asserts that Elenor is selfish when Chidi chooses to end his existence rather than spend eternity keeping his soul mate company, and fails to question the hypocrisy of a judge that sends souls to eternal damnation for doing "bad" things, when the absolute worst thing any sentient being can do is damn another being to an eternity of torture. I look forward to reading any self righteous rant my comments may have triggered.

The only way you'd think it's 90% ripping off religion is if you look at the basic concept of a good and a bad place and then not look at literally ANYTHING else going on.
Love the touch of Elanor's pupils pulsating out of sync with one another at the 20:32 mark. Bad things happening to her brain there.
I missed this show so much. It was wonderful. Better than Game of Thrones, too.
