There are screens that can get power from just the HDMI. Others that needs USB for power usually has touchscreen as well, that's why it needs extra power from the USB.
Mate, common, whats up with the misleading heading. When a person puts up a post such as yours that says "Install a Custom LCD Screen for less than $100" people are thinking that your going to do a proper presentation that covers how to install a custom LCD screen. Ive asked around my mates to ensure that my reaction / expectation wasn't just me just having a bad hair day before posting this. I rarely ping people for little mistakes but because there seems to be a ever increasing trend toward putting up a post with a heading that's sure to get people sucked into going over and taking a look only to find out it either had nothing to do with the heading or barely reassembled it. Now once or twice a day is annoying but it's getting damn annoying primarily because its a waste of people's time and sometimes money. That said, a subject line stating that its about installing this custom LCD screen. Expectation being that I was going to be shown from start to end how you install a little LCD so that you can monitor in real time those readings coming from your PC, such as temps, speeds, and just about anything you think you would like to have access to without the need to cease doing what you're already doing and having to dig up that app or apps just so you can get a look at how your system is running. so when I see your title stating that it was about I actually got a little excited because it's been something I've been wanting to add to my custom PC build for a while now but there seems not to be a great deal out there on TH-cam. I admit that I haven't finished watching it all as the most important parts I was hoping to see were simply not there. Now I don't know if you covered them but for some reason decided during the edit phase of putting it all together to leave them out or it was simply that you didn't cover them because they were overlooked. Whatever the reasons, most viewers hoping to see what you stated in your title would have been dissapointed, some (judging from the comments) didn't seem to notice that there were critical parts were missing)...... you dont know what you don't know ;-) Anyway mate, Id like to believe that it was purely a honest oversight on your part and never intended your subject line to be a tad misleading as ive watched a number of yor presentations and enjoyed them from you. As you can imagine there are a number of people who intentionally put up misleading or sensational headings to draw people in so that their site gets more people in and the ever watching TH-cam algorithm doesmt only sees the amount of people coming into your site. Anyway, this is just a thought. Please take a moment to think about whatt your presenting and if what your actually dooing actually forfills your subject line. I think many feel it fell well short of what they were expecting. Its not a criticism but more a friendly critique. Sometimes creators like you and I arent aware that we havent fully provided the information we were expeting. I hope you can take it onboard as a friend to friend simply pointing out something that others havent been bothered to do. We all need friends to sometimes let us know we have strayed off a little. I hope you take this as its intended and not a hostile criticism of your work as most of it I have quite liked. Thats why Ive taken the time to send this to you. Your friend and yeah a fan of your site. Keep the great content coming. Cheers and beers Brett from Oz
I love this vid. I want one just to monitor temps.
Go for it!
I will, got everything but AIDA64. I have a 7 inch monitor, but that may be to big. Got to check out the clearances of size. Thanks!

Thankyou I been looking hard for this
Any idea if this would work with a round screen? Looking to install a 2in round display
Hey nice, I wrote a Reddit how-to about a year ago on how to do this. Glad it's catching on!
Hi, does your screen work just plug & play? With RPi it shows everything, on windows I have just white screen... 😢 I have similar 5” display.
You can off the taskbar on second screen to make it look clean.
Jonathan Mark Gagan yea. Just full screen it
Disable monitor 2 task bar via display settings
This is fairly straightforward yet I am so inept at using my own hands to build things that I will never be able to do this lmao

Which screen size do you guys recommend for monitoring purposes? 5 inch or 7 inch? I think it is a bit hard to see whats written there with 5 inch
Woody Harrelson should have more subs
hahahaha
How can I create on for my Akai Mpc 2000 I want to replace mines with one that is the same color as a old green gameboy screen
Do you have a link to the display you purchased along with similar displays in different sizes?
Jacob McLean it’s ( probably) a raspberry pi screen. 5-7 inches? That’s what most people use to make this
It is a raspberry pi screen I think
I have a screen coming myself for a similar mod
let me know if anyone wants the link or maybe I'll edit the comment once I get it and see how good it is first
Thanks for the tutorial. Have a build log coming for the Phanteks build behind you coming up?
Good luck man! And of course ;-)
do you have to drag it over every-time you turn you PC on (cam controls)
Ross Jason Boehm Lai RJBL it’s just like a 2nd monitor. So if you turn off your pc. Yea I think you would
Btw I removed the black pin out of the back for connecting a raspberry pie cause it was in the away and unfortunately bricked the device
@Shikibane I bought another (different) one. They're cheap luckily so no worries
hi dear .. which program do u use to show the stat tem
NZXT cam
can view vertically?? thanks
Rommel Bautista it’s just like a 2 mins monitor so yea
hey man , what software are you use for control the temp and use gpu??? in mini screen
In the video I was using NZXT CAM, but that's because I was having issues with Aida 64. The best way to use it is to create a custom panel in Aida 64.
thx very much
how much could it impact performance in game for exemple ?
At least 50 fps boost
at least 100 FPS
lol
Connect it to on-board video for virtually no performance hit
what res is that in back ekwb?
this might sound stupid but if the GPU only has 1 HDMI port then how do you get it on your real monitor and the tiny case screen
You'd have to use some sort of adapter for one of the other ports
do any1 of u have the link to do this??

Can this screen be powered off hdmi alone?
@Hagen Meyer i ended up buying 1 and you're wrong. It works off hdmi by itself
There are screens that can get power from just the HDMI. Others that needs USB for power usually has touchscreen as well, that's why it needs extra power from the USB.
@@AllThatJazOfficial so u just connect it with hdmi cable and its turn on? Do u have link to buy it?
Jaz what model did you get? I’m trying to get one that only requires hdmi cable to power on as well
Does it require a raspberry pie?
Dragged not drug.
You seem sad in the vid, cheer up bro,, 😂
