I have to thank you for this awesome lcd screen implementation idea. I've made a few DIY amplifiers with 2.8" LCD screens and holding the screens in place has been a challenge for me, with ideas like L brackets or a separate pcb bench to hold the screen from behind not working too well and slipping over time. Excited to try your great idea, thanks for showing it off!
I have been watching your videos since 2007 and its shocking how you keep the kickass- high level of builds, always going ahead! Greatings from Chile! :)
@@Yami_Industries I just started the planning for that mod. Saw Hardware Canucks' video on Snow Blind and thought "I have 2 spare 23 inch monitors and an H500M case, I'll give it a shot". Helps that tempered glass side panels are only about $35 from CM.
How would I do this on a mini itx case such as the ml08b which doesn’t have a extra pcie slot to route a hdmi cable outside also is there a way we can have it flush as in no cable poking to the outside? I want access to all my visual ports for 2 monitors and vr
i got a 7" Lebula Raspberry Pi Touchscreen Monitor. Plan on it installing it on the back part of the case (fan slot). When using the stand offs / screws that come with it, the back part of the monitor is as flush as can be with the case and im worried if I turn it on it'll ruin the monitor / short out. Should i get a stand off kit and put a gap between the back side of the monitor and the case?
Hey Bill. Just watched the video. Great job on the mod. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for people looking to create an enclosure for people who want to have the small display mounted outside of their case? Or if you know where you could find such enclosures? Thanks
@Bill Owen Can i do the same with a big Display? What option do i have for big Displays? because i have a big case, want to make a big screen inside it
Great video with great instruction as always Bill! Thanks! Question... Would it be possible to run the screen off of the onboard IGPU so it doesn't add workload to your standalone GPU?
As Bill himself has answered, that could be possible, but if you don't have a laptop, I think it just does a video passthrough and it's rendered from the discrete GPU anyway.
Did your monitor get lag when hdmi is plugged in? My 5 in monitor caused the whole thing lag and also the sleep menu for the lcd doesnt work, so when the pc turn off, the screene stay on

Can a regular slim screen be mounted directly to a wall?, and do you know of any monitor mounts that screw directly to the wall with no issues other than the weight of the screen?. I have a desk that is 40cm in width and together with a keyboard i reckon the average monitors base would be too wide. (I have 14.5cm headroom when i include the keyboard). As Bill showed in the video you can use acrylic for the mounting brackets, face plate or to fill gaps. Remember its "5 Inch lcd" you're searching for.
Does this fit within two 5.25" drive bays? Unless the vertical height has been mis-written I don't think it will. There is a "1080x1920 5.5inch HDMI AMOLED Display" that appears to would fit in two 5.25" Drive bays. The only problem is that due to it being an amoled screen I fear that it just being a system status display would cause it to quickly burn in.
Thank you for the tutorial, but I've a doubt, when you turn off the pc, does your screen stays on, looking for a signal, how can I turn it off, without connetting and disconnecting the usb cable.
All you have to do is go into the motherboard bios and under power management find ErP settings. Enable that. It will shuts off usb while PC is turned off.
