When it has the bare minimum on it, the VZ does have a slim and overall smaller feel to it then most other rifles. With that being said, it needs all that other stuff in order for it to compete with the other modern rifles.
The addition of the quick change magazine button and the bolt release button, I like this. I already thought the VZ58 shot as accurately as an AR15 and gave you 1 MOA at 100 meters...but with better controls now...AR15 has less opportunity. Czech

These upgrades were supposed to be standard after we entered NATO, it would be super cheap to make it if it was ordered by state and made in state owned factories, I don't understand why our soldiers had to have original 50s ergonomy another 15+ years before they got their new Brens. These upgrades are so simple, but changes everything. BTW, that "AR" reload with your barrel pointed to the sky looks kind of ridiculous to me, I don't know if they teach it like that in US military, but there is alot of extra moves which takes time, I just keep it aimed to target and just change magazine, not breaking my grip. But I guess in actual conflict, you can't just stay there aiming at your enemy and reloading, so that "AR" reload has probably some military reasons, in civilian sphere, I think that we should not aim to the air when you don't have to. Maybe that new mag release button could have some extra pin which would push against magazine when you are pushing that button to kick the magazine our of the gun. I am curious, if it's possible to somehow made a shaft in AR style compatible with these curved magazines, I think it should be possible, for example STG44 had also curved magazine and pretty modern shaft.
@@combatreadychannel I guess it has something to do with that mess after revolution, everyone thought that we don't need army anymore, everything looked pink like there is no danger anymore, weapon factories were completely removed or sold and governments had to explain even small purchase because it was extremely unpopular to pay some military things from our taxes. Today situation is very different, now we know that we don't live in a safe world and we are slowly building our weapon industry again. Just an example - before 1989 during communism, we had like 4000 tanks!! That's crazy from today point of view for such a small country, after revolution, we kept like 100 of them, the same happened to ground army, so if someone would want to modify their VZ58s, everyone would be like "For what? We don't even have army anymore and politicians will stole that money anyway."

Totally different magazine. Vz58 mags are bigger than ak mags but they're lighter because they're made from aluminum (I'm only referring to metal mags, not polymer)

The best part of the VZ. 58 is how lean and handy it is and I feel like optics, rails, etc takes away from that.

The upgrades definitely brings it to the same level (functionally) to the AR15.
I love my VZ58. But it's more like a 2 to 2-1/2 MOA gun with good Barnaul ammo.

They are specifically for the VZ58.

That's a lot of effort for keymod and FDE. Just buy a XCR.
I already have the XCR, and it’s amazing! It was a lot of work but I enjoy a challenge.
That is one nasty looking handguard. Completely ruins the look of the rifle.
