Was eyeing this manufacturer vs the Czechpoint and the Samopal-USA manufactured versions. Not entirely sure which to go with. Glad to see your example is in working order and running well. Hopefully it continues. Good overview of a classic. Cheers.

Thanks for watching! I suppose it’s good to have options, I would think they’re probably all pretty good (other than the old Century guns that may be mixed)

Good afternoon sir. I was looking for your part 2 video on this rifle, but I couldn't find it on your channel. As such, I wanted to ask how this build has held up for you since last year. Southern Tactical's VZ58s seem to be the only ones in stock at the moment, and I'd be curious to get your take. Great job on this video, have a good one.

@@nickc.7800 Howdy. I haven’t quite got enough rounds through it just yet to give it a strong recommendation just yet (800 rounds so far, was hoping reach at least 1000 for an update). Thus far it’s held up well, no parts breakages and no malfunctions of any sort with any ammo (AAC steel case, a variety of Russian ammo, Yugo M67). The closest thing to an issue was the stock loosened a bit a developed a wobble. But it was just a matter of adding thread locker and tightening the stock screw back down… a little odd that they didn’t add use thread locker at the factory but not a big deal.

How this gun compare to the AK as far as ergonomics, recoil and reliability?

      Far surpasses.

@@averageguy5422 Let me see here…1. Forged receiver vs cheap, stamped receiver…2. Lighter than an AK…3. More accurate than an AK…4. Last-Round Bolt hold-open vs AK. What’s your argument - there’s more of them??

@@johnscreekmarkAlso, if you're a guy who started with an SKS like me, you can still use your stripper clips and assault vest with it.

@@johnscreekmark As someone who’s had multiples of each from different manufacturers, that list is pretty debatable at best, tbh.
      1. Forged vs “cheap” stamped. So what? Stamped AK’s hold up perfectly well for pretty much ever as long as they’re not from garbage tier makers like IO or Century. Stamping is a proven technology that is not prone to failure when done right. Might as well argue AR’s are inferior because they’re not made of steel but “weak-ass” aluminum or some such thing. It’s not really a meaningful advantage. Maybe Glocks are inferior because they’re made of “cheap plastic”?
      2. Lighter. Not by far, and this results in sharper recoil.
      3. More accurate? Not even true, granted there’s a world of different AK manufacturers out there so I’m sure it’s more accurate than SOME AK’s, but not any that are half decent.
      4. Last round BHO, sure I’ll give ya that one, but this isn’t even uncommon, for example any of the roller-delayed rifles tend to be the same.
And you can easily argue some opposite points. For example:
      1. the open action of the vz.58 allows for the ingress of all sorts of things to gum up the action (sand, mud, etc), this is why you’ll virtually never see such an open design anywhere else in the world after like the 50’s. The world collectively decided this was inferior.
      2. More prone to parts breakages. Piston spring in particular is a failure point I’ve run into, and semi-auto versions often deal with the infamous trigger gremlin.
      3. Factory trigger is worse than almost any AK trigger I’ve encountered other than maybe a Romanian SAR-1. And that’s a maybe: the SAR had nasty trigger slap but the vz.58 trigger was still heavier, mushier, and with a longer, less-predictable reset.
