I had 12 lessons and was still having trouble changing chords with a smooth transition. I asked my instructor if he thought I was a slow learner. He hesitated then said, "everyone learns at a different pace." I never went back. Wish I had you for an instructor! You seem to really understand the perils of older folks. Thanks for all you do (and thanks for your kind response to my last comment.)
Jack Oakes - I am an eighty year old man learning to play and have looked at many different online sites. Lauren, you are way ahead of everyone else when it comes to explaining the fundamentals in learning how to play the guitar. Only been seriously learning for the past six months. I did enroll in your basic picking course, but felt that maybe I should have started out with the strumming course first. Seriously thinking about enrolling in your strumming course. Thank you for taking the time to put these courses together. You are fantastic
A Very Great Teacher , takes the time to show you where the fingers go and what finger goes where , take your time and get use to it , I knew some chords already , and I'm picking up on others , Thank You Very Much Loren ❤️ great job , I'll keep on following 😀
I love your teaching your an excellent teacher and I am retired after 31 years of teaching and you are an amazing instructor I am learning so much from you...thank you bella...your wonderful....I'm hooked on you ...lol
Hi Lauren! I have watched several of your instruction videos and I think I've made more progress in the last three days than I have in the past three years! I had to laugh when you commented on pausing the strumming hand to build chords -- I've been making that mistake for months! I really like your style and out of all the TH-cam channels I've watched you are by far the best and most inspiring. I look forward to learning more from you in the future. Thank you!
Very good information Lauren. Also really liked your summary at the end regarding how this exercise ties in with not jumping too far ahead etc. to different levels, it's easy to make that mistake. Thank you.
thanks! i have a HUGE problem with strumming decently and overall have zero coordination, but this video is probably the first video where i actually understood what my problem was and explained how to fix it really well
Lauren thanks for your knife hand scientist style... I am really enjoying it. I saw your jingle bell video and have been checking them all out now. Like any sport when you get sloppy, you need to return to fundamentals. Learning with you is a fresh perspective and point of view. Mahalo and looking forward to other videos.
Love it Lauren. Watched you Hotel California video and love your teaching style. I've been playing for decades, but mostly hard rock and blues. Been working on my right-hand techniques and these videos are SO valuable.
Lauren, I got this guitar called a half(1/2) guitar and it's listed as a classical but I have metal strings on it but I read that classical guitars have nylon strings.
I have developed the change rather beatifully with hand strumming, but not so much with the pick as well, what do you think could be wrong? i am doing well, with metronome, progressing well, fast, with hand, but add the pick and some, not all, strumming patterns i then fumble...
Hallo Lauren you are wonderful 😀Where should I write so that you see the middle ground for specific song. I have had problems for 20 years with fingerpicking of things that happened to me. I'm an old hard rocker and played in the 80-90s and then it was mostly power chord but could also finger play. But as I said, something happened that makes me have a hard time with it. Love Kansas and dust in the wind and have watched your video where you teach it very understandably but ........ 😀😀 do you have any experience with daddario finger training instruments? Sitting and watching your video now and going crazy want to be able to play like you ... 🤔🤔😀🤟 I have subscribed you and donate some 💲before but have not figured out where it is most appropriate to ask questions where I do not have to disturb others .😂 Merry Christmas again .Janne Sweden
Hello, I do not have experience with any of the finger trainers unfortunately, so I cannot give my personal feedback on them. Thank you so much for donating and watching my videos. You can always go to my website www.laurenbateman.com and fill out the contact form
Ah, yes, I have another couple of students with this. Ear training will become very important for you because reading the music and rhythms can be tricky. I would recommend trusting your ear as soon as possible versus your eyes.
Cool,Cordinating ✋️ 👐 hands,Interesting lesson,like😊🎉

Yep that's me pausing while I'm changing chords how did you know??? Thanks for the tip
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I made this just for you!

Lauren, I got this guitar called a half(1/2) guitar and it's listed as a classical but I have metal strings on it but I read that classical guitars have nylon strings.
Interesting. Yeah, I thought classical only had nylons as well.
@@LaurenBateman I don't think it is really a classical because the body is so small.
Love this lessonYep🙃😁😘🙏😃🤗😀🚴🌺👊❤️🍎
Thank you

It's ok to strum without a pick. There really should not be much difference unless you are going the pick to hard.
❤
❤
She didn't mention it, but she was doing it... make the change on the last up strum
Thanks Troy for pointing that out 😊
👍
Thanks for watching!
Part of it for me is my pick gets stuck on a string or if I miss a strum up or down, I lose the rhythm.
That happens. You may need to loosen your grip on the pick and go very slow to build your timing
Do you have a website? I will pay you to teach me.

I have a question about playing and learning guitar when you are dyslexic? I'm having trouble.
Ah, yes, I have another couple of students with this. Ear training will become very important for you because reading the music and rhythms can be tricky. I would recommend trusting your ear as soon as possible versus your eyes.
@@LaurenBateman i will stick with it and let you know how it is going. Thank you for your help and advice!!!
