    I agree with many of them! Especially, despite its omnipresence, the Jazz Bass is just such an iconic and visually perfectly balanced design, it's crazy how it's still the benchmark for most of us, including me, after all these decades! I also agree on Pelham Blue, and I'm so happy to have at least something similar and imho equally nice: a J-style Bass (not a Fender but a modern take by Clover) in Lake Placid Blue!
    Some basses that I'd add to the list:
    - Le Fay Herr Schwarz, of course in matte black with a Padouk neck and fretboard, this looks so rad!
    - Warwick Thumb, it's just so iconic
    - So many of Serek's basses, in my opinion, they are vintage vibe brought to the presence in perfection
    - Duesenberg, especially the Triton bass, as a different but equally perfect take of blending past and presence
    - Alpher, especially the Mako Prime V2 - have you seen the golden one with 3 single-coils and no knobs?
    This is really a rabbit hole, I guess we could still find dozens or even hundreds of beautiful designs...

    Dingwall basses are silly gimmick factories, I'm out. Non-reverse Thunderbirds make me gag. Spot on with the Ernie Ball Music Man lineup, but the Joe Dart bass isn't a short-scale, it's just a passive Sterling. I wish they could be found, I love my Sterlings and would extra love to have a passive one at my disposal that would hold its resale since it's that way factory. I LOVE the Skyline Hollowbody, it's next on my list. Jazzes are a given, they're almost all gorgeous.

  • @ThatBaritoneGuitarGuy
    @ThatBaritoneGuitarGuy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I will start off by saying when I play bass, I am exclusive to 5-strings, because I need that chunky neck. The last 4-string I owned, I felt like I was going to snap off the headstock, because that neck was so skinny. I could wrap my hand around the neck, and still make a fist. No. I need a chunky neck. So, with that in mind, my favourite version of a Fender clone is the Lakland Skyline, because Lakland does a 3-2 configuration headstock. The entire reason I don't like Fender 5-strings is the fact that their 5-string headstocks are 4-1 configuration, like that fifth string was just an afterthought. MusicMan is even worse. As-is, their 4-strings are already a 3-1 configuration, BUT their 5-strings are a 4-1. Seriously? Add that fifth string to the other side of the headstock, and give me a 3-2 configuration. This is not rocket science. Every other 5-string has this figured out, so now the Fender/MusicMan clones need to figure it out.

    Call me Gen-X if you like, but I think the Steinberger XL bass was so far ahead of its time. Now they are going to collectors for stupid money, but if you want that sound, there aren't many alternatives.

    Beauty is subjective. Everyone thinks differently. Fore me Gibson basses have always been upon the ugliest and clumsiest basses ever, for instance. Fanned frets, also, IMO, seems "unlookable at", as we say in Italy. I personally like a rustic look, the Wal Mark I being the top of the list, alongside some Warwicks, and obviously every known Fender war horse in their most bare versions.

    How can you talk about Gibson basses and not even mention the Thunderbird? Possibly the most beautiful bass, especially in black with a white pick guard

    I agree with you on ugly and beautiful basses... to a point. Some of the ones you say look good make me wanna slap better glasses onto your face. But I agree with you about 80% of the time no matter what. Good videos homie!

    I must say if You and I ever just find a storage full of bass guitars and decide to take them all, we would not argue how to split the stash in any single case. Actually I would also left Bongo behind...

    Gibson victory is great, RD is great, the grabber and ripper are hard passes visually for me. To me it looks like a circle with too-short horns attached

    That's kinda funny, the Gibsons are in my ugly basses list. Except for the non reversed Thunderbird
