How to Increase Your Pushups by up to 30% (INSTANTLY!)

  • If you want to increase your pushups by up to 30 percent right now, then you have to watch what I am going to show you in this video. In order to do more pushups you have to understand that just like any other exercise, they require you to approach them as an athlete would. This means, you have to have an appreciation not just for the arms and chest that seem to be doing all the work but the legs and lower body that is allowing them to be maximally efficient in the first place.

    The concept can be introduced best by presenting you an analogy. If you wanted to swing a sledge hammer as hard as possible, would you attempt it while standing on solid cement ground or while standing on a balance board? Likely, you answered the first. The reason is, your body is a kinetic chain and ignoring this can be costly when it comes to the generation of maximum power and force.
    Power generation starts at the ground if your feet are in contact with it. It doesn’t matter if you are doing this while standing up or while horizontal to the ground as you are in a pushup. As soon as your feet make contact with your ground, their participation as stabilizers to what is going on above them is crucial. If you want to preserve the force that you generate above as much as possible then you are going to have to figure out a way to stabilize from the bottom up.
    When it comes to a pushup, the energy leaks start occurring the minute you forget about the role of the lower body and core in the exercise. If you simply think about the arms and chest then you are destroying your ability to do as many reps of the pushup as you are capable of. In fact, if you make the corrections that I’m showing you here, you may see up to a 30 percent increase in the number of pushups that you can do in a single set starting with your next one.
    This is the same concept by the way as attempting to carry someone. If their body is rigid, it is much easier to lift them with far less effort and move them where you want them to go. When they are loose (dead weight) it becomes much harder to lift them. The same applies to your own bodyweight when attempting to lift it during a pushup.
    To plug the energy leaks as much as possible you want to start down at the ankles. Lock your ankles into a 90 degree angle. You cannot allow them to bounce during the exercise. If your ankles are rocking or bouncing because they are loose then you are losing force that could be directed through your arms into the ground.
    Next, you want to focus on the knees. Straighten them out as hard as possible by contracting the quads and squeezing the glutes. This not only tightens up the legs from the front but from the back as well as you co-contract the muscles influencing the hip joints too. The last key is to make sure you tighten up the abs. This entire tightening effect from the chest down will provide your arms a stable platform from which to push from just as would happen when attempting to swing that sledgehammer with maximum force from a solid surface.
    You will instantly see an increase in the number of pushups that you can perform. Some have reported up to a 30% increase in the amount of push ups that they can do in a single set just by plugging these energy leaks. The key from here is to not just do this but also incorporate the second tip I share here towards doing up to 100 pushups in a single set. As I always say, repetition begets repetition. As soon as you are done doing as many pushups as you can in a single set, prop yourself up into an incline pushup by putting your hands onto the back of a couch or piece of furniture and keep repping out.
    The more reps you crank out here the more you are increasing your capacity to do work in a fatigued state. This will bode well as you continue to increase the number of flat ground pushups that you can do. You will notice that over time they will steadily keep going up and your strength in the exercise will improve practically each time you do it.

I call them man pushups because you got to have balls to do those pushups immediately after you failed doing regular pushups. You're also going to be a heck-a-sore if you do that for multiple sets.

      Meness first of all sorry for my english, i'm italian ahah. I'm glad to help someone with this problem because has been really hard for me but it's also hard to explain ahah, well, in the first place I started training my biceps but has been almost completely useless for achieving push-up, so don't do that. For push-ups it's important to train your triceps and of course your chest so start with some "triceps dumbbell extensions" it's an amazing exercise and i guarantee that you'll feel the burning in your muscles. After that simply do push-ups everyday, download the app "100 push-ups" it's amazing and it helped me so much.. so, do 1-2 push-ups regularly everyday until you see some improvement, then it's important to let the muscles rest for 1 or 2 days otherwise they won't grow. And Finally change your lifestyle, I don't know if this has been the Key for me, but I started improving exactly when I started to workout, eat better and buying proteins as a supplement because I rarely eat the right amount of meat (or proteins in general) everyday. Do this and I guarantee that After the first struggle of the 1-2 push-ups it'll be a lot easier! :)

    This is absolutely no joke! I am 59 years old, recovering from cancer and was able to pump out 10 or 11 straight regulation push ups before failure. Shortly after watching the video and following the man's directions (w/o the hammer), I was able to knock out 25 straight push-ups then another 20 more push ups five minutes later. I had to stop because I had to go to a meeting. Thank you so much for your channel and sharing your knowledge. This exercise and others you have posted have helped me greatly in recovering from and, in fact, improving on what I was before cancer. My original goal was 20 no bull shit push-ups and 10 pull-ups. I still have 8 and 1/2 more pull -ups to go. I will keep on until I get 100 push-ups. Words are inadequate to tell you how much your content has helped me and to express my deepest gratitude.

    Can share what helped me get stronger for push ups. Have done calisthenics for years, tried tons of different push up variations. Always tried to perform whatever push up variation I do with correct form etc. I stopped however improving much after a while, hit a plateau. Just minor improvement in rep max for various push ups. What changed it and improved my strength a ton was the following:
    Same push up variations as before( I focus mostly on diamond, regular and medicine ball push ups) but I shifted the speed I did them at. Not same constant speed up and down. Instead I now do super slooooow going down( like 4-5 seconds probably), take a short stop when at lowest point, then EXPLODE up with all the effort and speed I can muster, repeat. Saw a big improvement even after just two-three weeks of doing this. Can really recommend it once you hit that plateau like I did.

      What if you just wanna max out as much as possible in a short amount of time?

    • @Ratatosk80
      @Ratatosk80 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@herbdias8702 There are going to be lots of approaches for improving push up strength. It's about making the exercise harder and harder. Advanced variations, adding weight etc.
      The method I described is about "time under tension" combined with explosive power. That's why it was effective. I was however already very strong at push ups. I don't think it's a method someone could start using if they don't already have lots of push up strength. If you can't do enough of them in a set it's better to use a different variation to build up. Also I am not saying my method is the best just that it's one way to do it that might work well for someone.
      Doing as many push ups as possible in a short amount of time I don't think is good though. Because if going for speed you will not keep the form perfect. A push up should be going as close to the floor as possible. Also when stressing them out you are using your momentum to "bounce" off the floor. Much better to go down, pause like 1 second at lowest point", then press up. That way you are not cheating.

    • @rumor-936
      @rumor-936 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@herbdias8702 in my opinion, if you just want to max out as quickly as possible, do burpees instead. Hard, explosive throughout and can tire you out relatively quickly.

    I am trying to become an Air Force SERE Specialist. I'm doing my fitness test in a few days to compete for a SERE contract. The techniques in this video helped me raise my max reps by about 15. I am grateful for this channel.

    Thanks! I recently saw a video on how to do more push ups and it told me to add weight to my core to make it harder, then it’d be easier since once you remove the weight,”you’re free as a bird”. But thats hard, and this is much better

    So basically don't have loose ankles, tighten core and gluetes to minimise energy loss. And once you can't do anymore normal pushups do incline pushups or knee pushups

      Probably not tbh pretty sure arm breaks happen when there's lots of resistance. Even using my fap arm i'd probably lose almost immediately so no broken arm :)

    Key words for today's class. Write this line down 10 times before you start your routine...
    repetitions beget repetitions, exert force, energy leaks, your body is a kinetic chain
