@@TWEEMASTER2000Filtered cigarettes are often perceived as being "safer" than unfiltered cigarettes, but this is a misconception. Here's why filtered cigarettes can be just as harmful, or even worse, than unfiltered ones: 1. **Deeper Inhalation**: Filtered cigarettes can encourage smokers to inhale more deeply, drawing the smoke further into the lungs. This deeper inhalation can increase the exposure of the lungs to the harmful chemicals in the smoke. 2. **False Sense of Security**: The presence of a filter might lead smokers to believe that the cigarette is less harmful, potentially leading them to smoke more. 3. **Filter Fibers**: Some research suggests that cigarette filters can break down during use, potentially releasing fibers and other filter components, which can then be inhaled. 4. **Compensation Behavior**: Smokers of light or filtered cigarettes might compensate for the lower smoke yield by smoking more cigarettes or taking more frequent and deeper puffs. This can lead to an increased intake of harmful substances. 5. **Toxic Chemicals**: Filters do not effectively block all the toxic chemicals in cigarette smoke. Many harmful substances, including tar, nicotine, and carbon monoxide, are still inhaled. It's important to note that both filtered and unfiltered cigarettes pose significant health risks and are linked to numerous diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and respiratory problems. "Volvo - they're boxy but they're good." Don't know if you'll mention this movie in this episode but the film "Crazy People" (1990) is about advertising & honesty with a lot of product placement. The lead, Dudley Moore has a nervous breakdown & is committed. He ends up starting a new advertising agency with other patients & they come up with slogans like "Jaguar - For men who'd like hand jobs from beautiful women they hardly know." and "Volvo - they're boxy but they're good." There's also adverts for a Greek travel agency, one that goes: "Forget Paris. The French can be annoying. Come to Greece. We're nicer." And another one called "Come... IN the Bahamas" for the islands' national tourism board. It's a great movie & Volvo actually liked the honest advert campaign.
I was honestly shocked by the brand placement in Idiocracy because I thought *no brand* would let them run their name through the mud like that. Every time I saw a new brand being torn apart I was once again filled with shock and awe.
Then there's Demolition Man where all the restaurants are Taco Bell in the US, but they made it Pizza Hut in Europe because Taco Bell didn't exist there at the time. One of the US TV versions cut out all references to Taco Bell, which made the movie jump mid-sentence a lot. 😂

One of my fave movies is Repo Man - director had some kind of disagreement with product placement, so nothing branded was visible - e.g. cans, packets, bottles in the supermarket had plain white labels, with simple black text saying 'Beans' or 'Beer' or whatever. No brands.
Have any of you read the book that Repo Man was based on? If not, do it. Definitely a worthwhile read. The movie obviously had to leave out a lot of stuff for time and pacing purposes, but the book seriously takes the story to some really dark places.
@@SkunkApe407is it the same book that Repo: the Genetic Opera was based on? Because that movie was a hell of a trip, and IIRC Repo men had the same premise, but as an action movie instead of a horror-comedy-musical.
I remember the Indy show as well - I first heard the name of Ingolstadt there from where Indy fled from the nazis hidden in a coffin. It's ironic that I as a german learned about Ingolstadt, a german city in an american Indiana Jones series. I have a connection to the 90's _"Outer Limits"_ as well because as a kid I participated in dubbing the series for german TV coincidentally.
I actually ran across the entire sliders series on DVD on sale at Best Buy one day. It was a BOGO so I grabbed Quantum leap as well... sliders kind of held up for the first few seasons, but then they swapped the main character for his real life brother I think, and they ran out of ideas. Couldnt finish the last season. So bad... quantum leap sort of held up till the last season as well. Both could have benefitted from better CGI, but the stories and acting were pretty good. Now, original Battle Star Galactica was not what I remembered as a kid. That was cheestastic.😂

Fun Fact the production studio that did the California Raisins? Will Vinton Studios... In 2002 they were bought out by the guy who owns Nike, and he brought on Henry Selick (the guy who made Nightmare Before Christmas) to join them and in 2005 they were re-branded as Laika. Same studio that Made Coraline and Paranorman and Kubo made the California Raisins and the Dominos Noid. They also created the M&M characters. King of The Hill was one of those shows thats kinda hit and miss, but when it hits it hits like a Mac truck doing 80 mph. "Don day estes la casa de peepee."
My view of the ads in Idiocracy is that those are supposed to be the chains that survived. So they must be good now to survive till then. The missing companies are the ones who could not adapt and died. Plus we are dealing with 700 years of reduced intelligence and linguistic drift.

Use of trademarks in movies/TV is actually an interesting topic. There have been some interesting court cases. TLDR: you don't actually have to get clearance to use a trademark in a movie/tv show as long as the item is being used as intended and does not disparage the brand. The concept of disparaging the brand isn't actually as clear as you might think ie: if a villain was using said brand, courts have deemed that not disparaging to the brand. However, rather then getting caught up in a potentially expensive lawsuit (which you stand a strong chance of winning), it's generally easier and cheaper to get clearance ahead of time and potentially work out a product placement fee for the brands you would like to use.
My favorite part of idiocracy is just the first 5 minutes and the case study. 😂 though I’ve actually had friends who can’t watch the movie because it gives them flashbacks of living in shit towns around the US. 😅 apparently they made a documentary. 😢
My uncle had one of those self playing digital piano/organs, and his favorite trick would be to sit at that piano on one of the more beautiful and complicated classical pieces, and play along to it, and wait for someone to tell him how wonderful his playing was. At which point he would raise his hands above his head and continue moving his fingers as if still playing, and everyone would laugh.

Thanks for a great video. In the UK, you were not allowed to put products into music. They would be afraid that companies would be paying artists to put their product in their song for payment. Kind of like the payola scandal that has been here in the US. . “Kodachrome“ by Paul Simon was banned in the UK. And she refused to change it. mentioning once or twice you can remove it from the song. “Kodachrome” by Paul Simon couldn’t be played. And he refused to re-edit the song. Lola by the Kinks mentioned Coca-Cola. the record company forced them to remove Coca-Cola in the song took out but they had to removed from the song. It also happened in the song “This Note’s for You” by Neil Young. But if you look at the older James Bond movies, they had product placement everywhere. Just the cars, Aston Martin, the Lotus Esprit , BMW, and AMC. And that’s just the cars that are in the movies But that changed. As an example, the UK broke major grounds just a few years ago, when on February 28th 2011 TV programs made for the UK audiences were allowed for the FIRST TIME to include product placement - on certain conditions. These conditions were outlined by the governing body, Ofcom. My apologies. AutoCorrect works like shit and I didn’t proofread it. Sorry.
I was working at a Subway sandwich shop when Lethal Weapon 2 came out. The owner was the manager. He was so excited about the product placement that Subway had paid for in the movie. Then he saw the film… Joe Pesci ranting how they always fuck you in the drive-thru and the wrong order, plus the rant about the tuna sub put him in a state of apoplexy that was hilarious to watch. Me and a coworker would quote that scene (without the F-bomb) to piss him off. He was very short handed and could not afford to let us go.
Why does every one of the Brain Blaze episodes just feel like a giant 30-60 minute reason to give Fact Boy either an aneurysm or a reason to therapeutically rant while being paid to do it. And I am so here for it. Simon Tangents for the win... gotta love that level of unhinged.
4:02 Simon's delivery of "So don't settle for the ordinary- be extraordinary" just screams "I have read for this ad four times a day every day for the last 7 years please God somebody make it stop".
Brawndo!!! Idiocracy!!! I love that movie. Mike Judge also made Beavis and Butthead. That was what he was most known for. Office Space is also one of my favorite cult classics. Its right up there, in my opinion, Mallrats, Encino Man, Airheads, The Labyrinth, The Rocky Horror Show, The Addams Family (the 90's movies), The Craft, Death Becomes Her, She Devil, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the original Movie), Ghostbusters, The Terminator Franchise, Star Wars, Star Trek, Beetlejuice, and Austin Powers (all of them). Seeing Simon have the time of his life laughing about *Idiocracy* is one of life’s new greatest joys.
Meanwhile ,the americans are living it 😂

Watching Simon nerd out over his Lego DeLorean is awesome.
I'm not at all surprised that Simon owns an entire player piano
It does seem to suit him, doesn’t it?
Well obviously that's where the ad money goes instead of the writers in the basement 😂
Nope he just drags Danny out from the basement every now and then.
Rather than just half of one?
Not to mention the LARGEST collection of lead-based dildos
13:31 okay people are already commenting on the zoom in but just the fact that Simon interrupts himself mid WORD is just gold.
I have to admit, I genuinely loved the authentic giddiness of when Simon showed off his Lego 'Back to the Future' Delorian.
"Volvo - they're boxy but they're good."
Don't know if you'll mention this movie in this episode but the film "Crazy People" (1990) is about advertising & honesty with a lot of product placement.
I also watch the extras and behind the scenes bit on DVD's. The Editor isn't alone in this.
I'm an American and I started drinking Earl Grey just because Capt. Jean-Luc Picard did. Since I was a nerd(and still am) Capt. Picard was the coolest person I could think of besides Luke Skywalker but blue milk never seemed to appeal to me for some reason.
Earl Grey slaps! I don't care who you are
@@funtechu I tried Earl Grey and I like it, but Lady Grey is more my speed. It has a more delicate flavor. Still, I always feel like a british person when I drink it. I like to think about the firm roundness of the bottoms of tulips and the decline of dressing gowns.
Earl Grey honks of perfume, and nobody likes it in the UK either. Here we drink tea 🫖 aka English breakfast aka assam and ceylon blend aka tea. If you want fancy tea, drink darjeeling - the champagne of teas. If you want to look English, just drink regular tea - Earl Grey smells like an eccentric aunty's knickers drawer
@@thebagelsproductionsI absolutely agree, I enjoy the blqck strong teas with milk and 1 sugar ,but the Earl Grey was ,if done wrong, way to scented foe me so just Lady Grey instead ,but if I have to choose between some of the latest flavours made and people offering with florals and fruits,I will take Earl any day as the new ones are almost sickly bubblegum sweet
@@thebagelsproductionsdude why would you sniff your aunts knickers da fk 😂😂😂
The Saxophone Squritle made my day lol.
Another Fun Fact about Idiocracy, Judge had everybody wearing Crocs cause he thought only an idiot would wear those "ugly ass prison shoes".
He was completely right on both accounts lmfao!
But they are comfy….
@@philippal8666 so are pajamas but it doesn't mean people should be seen in public wearing them. 😂
@@StefanMediciHave you seen people? Wearing pajamas is pretty common nowadays
@@QBCPerdition I know, hence I used them as the example. It doesn't make it right. Some people have just given up on having any self-respect.
yeah i dont see how crocs got so popular when i was a kid they were the shoes we hated putting on but parents made us do it for walking in the rocks and reef at the beach now they are a fashion thing
One of my fave movies is Repo Man - director had some kind of disagreement with product placement, so nothing branded was visible - e.g. cans, packets, bottles in the supermarket had plain white labels, with simple black text saying 'Beans' or 'Beer' or whatever. No brands.
There was a brand called Generic that made...generic stuff. What they didn't make was Generic "Food" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was coming over to mention that too --- but! Three main characters are named Bud, Lite, and Miller!
Also the 7-up jingle.
Have any of you read the book that Repo Man was based on? If not, do it. Definitely a worthwhile read. The movie obviously had to leave out a lot of stuff for time and pacing purposes, but the book seriously takes the story to some really dark places.
@@jayhom5385 - Nobody wants generic food. 😅
@@SkunkApe407is it the same book that Repo: the Genetic Opera was based on? Because that movie was a hell of a trip, and IIRC Repo men had the same premise, but as an action movie instead of a horror-comedy-musical.
Still waiting for Simon to get a weather channel. And food review channel. Other than that, dude's got every topic covered.
Oh geez, Simon eating random foreign foods and going off about it would be gold.
Ingolstadt. That's where Audi is headquartered.
I love Simon's child like joy and excitement in every episode
I loved outer limits and sliders as a kid. I was a dork and so was Simon!
It's a generational thing, we all loved Sliders and Outer limits.
Along with Knight Rider and Baywatch
@@rossharper1983I remember loving Quantum Leap as well.
@@ripn929707 star Trek? My fav is Voyager. Talk about cheesetastic!!
@@rossharper1983 I never got down with knight rider or Baywatch. But Zena warrior princess and Buffy the vampire slayer, that was my jam
I loved The A Team as a kid. Under no circumstances do I want to rewatch it.
Your editors RULE SO FUGGIN' HARD! I love this show. I can't have it on in the background, or I miss all the genius memes & sight gags and brill' lil touches like the shimmering DeLorean or the fat rails lined up on the coaster. Cheers, Julian! Grand Slam Episode! Absolute banger!
I almost exclusively listen to these episodes in audio mode while at work so I miss all the visual gags and never have the urge to go back to rewatch the video.
I see the editing styles is different because it's a new editor. And I love the chaotic energy
Life tip: never lose the childhood joy of showing off your Legos.
And don't write down your crimes.
There is one thing that comes to mind when u talk about kids getting excited about something after seeing it in a movie. The iconic Australian movie 'bmx bandits' lead to the formation of so many bmx gangs all over the country. Thank you Nicole. The best movie you ever made
Loved Young Indy! And the Sliders CroMags were great villains…. Okay, I just watched for Kari Wuhrer!
Another key contribution to the video by Simon's chair.
Congratulations Simon on being 4 years clean form heroin. You got this brother! I believe in you!
😂
😂😂
Lots of poppy fields in the Czech Republic, maybe that’s why he moved there…
😂
I remember the Young Indiana Jones series. I really enjoyed it as a kid. Also, as a Lego lover, I enjoyed seeing Simon nerd out over his Lego Delorean.
I loved Young Indiana Jones as a kid!
Also Farscape was AMAZING!
I recently re-watched Farscape and it's still amazing!
I love the chair asides whenever Simon gets up. Also Simon's delight with his model DeLorean.
I still like Sliders, at least the first 2 and a half seasons. Sadly, after John Rhys Davies left, it kinda fell off of a cliff. Then, after Fox cancelled it and SciFi picked it up, it somehow managed to get worse.
Idiocracy is the best documentary ive seen in years.
After the freakshow of the RNC this week they would have fitted right in...If Hulk Hogan could be a presenter/speaker and everyone cheered the idiots in the movie would have been in their right setting.
I just remember that thing from Benny & Joon about raisins just being humiliated grapes. 😂
Simon's delorean and piano are objectively cool.
I need to rewatch Back to the Future, I clearly missed a lot.
Fun fact about Idiocracy. Crocs were an unknown brand but looked ridiculous enough to be the shoe everyone in the future wore.
it's gone so crazy, I saw winter crocs in the store, crocs lined with fabric and fur stuff.
if I didn't have a shoe lift in one shoe, I'd totally get a pair lol
@@kyle18934 They've been around for at least a decade. I have a pair, I bought them when my oldest kid was born. Soooo much easier to put on while holding a newborn😅
Yeah, no thanks. Crocs are disgusting. 🤮
Julian! The editing with the lego model was so good I went back and watched it again.
19:08 For a short while, "Brawndo" (the Thirst Mutilator - It's got Electrolytes) WAS a real brand. Pete Hottelet, an Oakland-based graphic designer, who started a company, Omni Consumer Products, brought Brawndo to life.
The BTTF sound cue at the end there was a touch of class.
I have the Lego Delorean & it’s awesome also Idiocracy is a great movie
Was that a Spiffing Brit cameo at 10:46? Absolute legend.
8:36 Nice effects on the DeLorean Julian!
I dunno I just think it's cool that those companies are the same company lol. We have a long, proud tradition of animators in America.
King of The Hill was one of those shows thats kinda hit and miss, but when it hits it hits like a Mac truck doing 80 mph.
"Don day estes la casa de peepee."
I feel like it was much more hits than misses. I absolutely love King of the hill
In S1E1 Hank Hill believes in climate change.
I love the person/people doing your visuals/edits - they are the best i have seen on TH-cam
My view of the ads in Idiocracy is that those are supposed to be the chains that survived. So they must be good now to survive till then.
The missing companies are the ones who could not adapt and died.
Plus we are dealing with 700 years of reduced intelligence and linguistic drift.
Costco just kept getting bigger and bigger. 😂😂😂
@@ripn929707 at least they love us.
3 seconds in and that huge JVC in the background of that fight scene in a highlander sequel immediately comes to mind.
British people ain't never seen the California Raisins Christmas special? Oh my God.
That Squirtle meme is fantastic 😂🎉 GIVE THE EDITORS A RAISE!
So happy Julien put in that Venture Bros. Hitler reference! And remember, Back to the Future is objectively one of the greatest movies ever. Don't try to deny it.
Also, wow, I'm shocked Simon has seen a movie that I haven't...or a movie at all.
Was only talking about back to the future today with a friend and saying how great the movie was, what made me think of the movie I heard somewhere that they are making back to the future 4 i hope their is a Cameo from Michael J Fox and Doc ☺️
I replied to your comment before I watched the video I didn't realise that Toyota had an on the radio 📻 at the beginning of the opening scene anyway I was just saying that to my friend when I was talking about how good the movie was did he remember the red Toyota pickup at the end of the movie that Marty's Dad bought him, I was only young at the time, but I thought it was the coolest motor ever! Pickup was epic 💯
And Brondo has electrolytes.
literally only remember Calvin Kleins
@@David27mk I pray this doesn't happen

Don’t forget, Mike Judge also bestowed us with the high brow comedy of Beavis & Butt-Head 😂
And Daria
I thoroughly enjoy the meme card that says: Learing stuff with fact boi when he goes on light tangents. The "I'm not sure" and then adding the meme was nicely timed.
Almost 2min in and Simon MAY have read 3 sentences 😂 I'm getting snacks, this will be amusing 🔥
Huh? This is Brain Blaze.
I think you clicked on the wrong notification by mistake, because this wasn't the CC episode that released at the same time (as I assume you figured out)
@@ThatWriterKevin On point as usual, I had it on my TV and went to comment on my phone... I slipped to the wrong thumbnail. Now to watch this one and see if it's still a valid observation. Odds I have to edit it? Lol
I was just telling my fiance yesterday that the creator of Idiocracy must be a genius. We didn't look him up because we were headed out the door, how funny it is that he gets brought up in one of your videos the same day.
Just realized that Disney now owns the rights to Idiocrisy
So... Not Sure is a Disney Prince?????
@@tonyzed6831This made me 😂
Use of trademarks in movies/TV is actually an interesting topic.
26:00 we wish Simon but lately Hollywood has had a ton of terrible writers fail upwards, especially at Disney.
Sometimes these videos make me so happy it's freaking ridiculous.
My favorite part of idiocracy is just the first 5 minutes and the case study. 😂 though I’ve actually had friends who can’t watch the movie because it gives them flashbacks of living in shit towns around the US. 😅 apparently they made a documentary. 😢
Ok. The lego show and tell was adorable!❤
Are Kevin and Lorelei the new king and queen of the Blazement?
Psst, this episode actually has a new editor: Julian Vu.
@@MatthewMarcum I thought it was edited a bit differently, thanks
new editor in this one!
Lorelei didn't edit this video, but that doesn't mean we can't still be
@@ThatWriterKevin I think you two are, Danny and Sam are taking a well earned breather lol
I’ve been enjoying seeing how soon I can guess if it is a Sam edited or Lorelei edited video. I was having a hard time deciding and now I see why. Well done Julian Vu! I shall enjoy adding you to mystery.
I did the same thing!
I know when it's a Lorelei video. There's metal clips added into it. 😂
@@mangalover0149 oh yeah, that is a give away lol. I’ve been changing the game to see how fast I can guess right, because of that.
Simon I'm so stoked to see you have a Lego Delorean!!! My kids attended the high school Bob Gale went to that inspired the story. It's a massive school and fun to know that great people are alumni.
And that’s just the cars that are in the movies
But that changed.
Sorry.
So a few years ago, the mother of my grandkid was 7.
When you put it that way, it sounds ridiculous.
My favorite advertisement in Idiocracy is the Tarrlyon's ad. The dude on the billboard is epic!
The first 3 minutes of the video. Fascinating tangent Simon, let's carry on. 😂
Why does every one of the Brain Blaze episodes just feel like a giant 30-60 minute reason to give Fact Boy either an aneurysm or a reason to therapeutically rant while being paid to do it. And I am so here for it. Simon Tangents for the win... gotta love that level of unhinged.
Meme timing got me rolling on this one. Well done, Editor Sam! 👏
Simon, pay your editors more. This was one of the best ones yet, just with the editing! (You did an okay job yourself 😁)
What are they going to do with all that extra money in the basement? 😜😂
Got some movies I need to watch! Thank you Simon and Kevin. 😊
Reboks defence of “the scenes they agreed to would maybe make the film” is a pretty good one
4:02 Simon's delivery of "So don't settle for the ordinary- be extraordinary" just screams "I have read for this ad four times a day every day for the last 7 years please God somebody make it stop".
The meme cuts in these videos are epic. Kudos mr. Julian Vu.
All of those were amazing cult classics.
