@@charlesbrightman4237G’day, Charles. Your😅 suggestion has my curiosity up. With all of the roofing that you recommend, do you think that water will still not run down into the foxhole? I would suggest the camp and Dakota hole ensemble be built on a slight rise of ground, with drainage running out from it. Even a couple of inches of elevation will let Mother Nature do the work, and save having to dig a big hole, and then roof it over. Just a thought. Laziness is the mother of invention.
      My best to you.

Shawn, does the 3rd pole of your tripod have to be so thick? It looks looks like a thumb thick pole would readily bear the weight, and save that log for a campfire. Just a thought.

Shawn, you are so right with your comment, "If it's not broken, don't try to fix it!" I was a child of the 50's and 60's and was blessed to have a father who was a child of the great depression and World War II. As such, he learned how to make do with what he had or simply do without if he didn't have it. I grew up spending most of my "awake." hours outside working on the farm and hunting and fishing for subsistence for our family. KISS is what enabled every member if our family to share the workload and survive. Thank you for your down to earth and realistic video's! Prayers sent your way my friend for all needs!

One thing I appreciate about Shawn's food in the field is it being well mannered. He shows the prep, the cook, the presentation and then takes one MAYBE two bites followed by a sound of affirmation and "catch you in a few." Dude knows there are plenty of channels dedicated to people eating food. Folks, we can have manners even out in the field!

Outstanding, I’m thoroughly enjoying what your doing! My oldest grandson wanted to make a ridge line he observed you make on one of your videos. So I provided him para cord and bank line. I was going to help and he said no, “I want to try by myself”. After about four hours he finally made his own ridge line and proudly showed me. Since he didn’t have a tarp, I let him use one of mine. I’m very proud of him, appreciate your efforts in sharing your skills. 😊👍🇺🇸

Hello from Oklahoma! Great Video! I don't know what's going on with Utube. I watch all Your videos. I share your videos with several like minded friends and family. I've used the "arbor knot" for years, I'm 63, I didn't know what it was called back when I figured it out, But I loved it. Also, every time I tie onto a tree I make sure my head is opposite the tree, because when it rains the water rolls down the trunk to where I tied on and drips on me. Thanks for all You Do! A younger generation here is benefiting from your videos. God Bless!

THAT!! THAT is WICKED AWESOME!! That configuration would work really well down here in the hot days of Florida. I’d have to add my military “insect bar” though.
Out of everyone’s videos I see that build “hootches”, as I call them, yours are the most instructional and squared away! Everyone else’s are sloppy, it seems. Not sure about anybody else but I can’t stand wrinkles in my tarp or crooked ass bow drill sticks.
    Thank you, Shawn!
