  • Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
    Coming up
We return to our friends at The North Yorkshire Moors Railway as a storm has invaded on the line.
Yes we visit during the final weekend of operations of The A1 Steam Trust's A1 pacfic 60163 Tornado's visit.
We start at Grosmont Motive Power Depot as we see ex BR Standard class 4 tank engine 80136 pass by with the Gresley Teak set with the 10.30am train to Pickering.
We have a look round the depot including seeing the progress ox NELPG's ex LNER Q6 63395 which she is almost ready to return to steam later in the season.
We ex LMS Black 5 44806 now paired with her new tender as she waits in the que to be overhauled back to running order.
We have our 1st glimps of ex LNER B1 1264 now fully completed in LNER lined black which.
She was originally on the guest list for The Severn Valley Railway's Spring Steam Gala but sadly a few days after these film shots were taken the loco was withdrawn from the event & West Somerset Railway based 7f 53808 will take 1264's place instead.
We head to the station for the main reason of our weekend visit as we see 60163 arrive from Pickering.
We join the 12.40pm departure for Pickering before 60163 ran round 1264 makes a appearance in the station as this was her 1st steaming of the season.
Soon the A1 ran round & we were off. We mostly focused on filming up the 1 in 49 grade between Grosmont & Goathland & boy Tornado put on a great show slow to start with through the sheds & picked up speed all the way up the bank.
We end day 1 of the filming as the loco approaches the summit at Moorgates.
Unfortunately conditions round the North York Moors National Park was appalling so the rest of the filming to Pickering was called off.
We move onto Day 2 the last day of The Tornado event as we begin at Newbridge Crossing as we see Tornado pass by as the A1 heads for Pickering.
We stay at Pickering as we see 80136 arrive from Grosmont with the teak set.
Here we join her train for the trip to Grosmont.
During the journey to Grosmont we pass 60163 at Goathland before we descended down the bank to Grosmont.
We end this video with 80136 passing through the station.
Thanks for reading enjoy the film.

Fom Oz 17000km away, I ventured to that very platform a few years ago on my Whitby - Pickering return trip. Loved the interlocked gates at Grosmont. What a great shot of Tornado coupling.

Beautiful video. I enjoyed the bleakness of the weather adding to the overall effect. Magnificent steam engines. You are indeed fortunate to have so many running again in beautiful UK scenery. Greetings from Australia. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

A great video with super capture of events. As a matter of interest - what has happened to Tornado's corridor tender - any ideas please? (presumably on mainline charter events only? Just a thought! )

Neither 60163 Tornado nor the peppercorn pacific's never had corridor tenders in their working lives the only pacific's who have corridor tenders were Sir Nigel Gresley's A3's & A4 pacifics
