    I said something similar that this man said in another video and I got backlash by "Christians" because one of their fave "artists" cussed on a track. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's studying the Word. Thank the Lord for this man!!!

    I think there’s a disconnect that Thabiti doesn’t address between what Ephesians calls “corrupt speech” and what various parts of society might call “cussing.” Language is an ever-changing thing, and there are new bad words today that weren’t called bad 20 years ago, just like many of yesteryear’s bad words aren’t called bad today. In the same way that what you eat doesn’t make you unclean, I believe that what makes words corrupt is the heart behind them.

  • @JarrellFMG
    @JarrellFMG 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    "The apostles counted it worthy to suffer for that name..."
    They suffered for the name of Jesus. Not for a label that the people of Antioch gave them. Now, I am in NO WAY condoning cussing in music. And I wholeheartedly believe in embracing persecution. But seriously, the people are gonna call you whatever they want to call you. We as Christians are only obligated to accept what Christ calls us.

    • @prn72271
      @prn72271 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The title Christian will get you killed many places in this world, why? because it is talking about ones belief in Jesus Christ. If you are persecuted it is for the name of Jesus.

    • @faithhouse6111
      @faithhouse6111 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is exactly what I was thinking when he says that. No artist in CHH is refusing to be identified with our savior. They are refusing to be identified with a a sub genre that has been characterized by culturally irrelevant music.

    • @JarrellFMG
      @JarrellFMG 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Faith House Exaaactly.
      prn72271 The title "Christian" will get you killed in many places in this world. I agree. But that isn't true everywhere...especially in the US. I live in a very religious city where everyone is a "Christian" but very few believe in Jesus (with fruit to show it). I do believe that all that are godly in Christ will suffer persecution. That has to do more with walking like Jesus walked and not just receiving a label that people give you.

    • @prn72271
      @prn72271 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Freedom Music Group the people in the US are not killing people of any faith. lets not forget while there are many named Jesus there is one Jesus Christ. Therefore, one cannot use the term Christian and not think Jesus.
      The irony is that no one had an issue with Christian when they were trying to get validated amongst believers but once popularity hits, especially on a secular level, folks want to drop Christian.
      look, if they wore the title proudly to start, continue on, I say.

    • @JarrellFMG
      @JarrellFMG 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +prn72271 I hear you. I wouldn't agree that everyone who hears Christian readily thinks of Christ. Evangelism in San Antonio would show you that really quick. We could prob continue to go on and on about it but I think that my point is that wearing the Christian title is not law and not holding the "Christian" label high doesn't mean that you are forsaking Jesus...nor does it mean that you are compromising. I think that's my point. I don't know the brothers but I would put this under the category of "becoming all things in order to win some". And if they have the freedom in Christ to do it, then we shouldn't jump to conclusions.

    Whoa my first time hearing this! I've been and still stuggling with this as a poet and a hip hop artist. The issue i have especially in poetry is to accurately assess the current events without speaking on the corruption of the world. Church folk (and i go to church a lot) are often stuck in a false bliss but oblivios to this evil reality that people are dealing with. At least we don't talk about it, especially blacks. We the most "churched" folk in the country yet have all the problems. Every city with a significant African American population in America has thousands of churches dormant and docile to the atrocities which are befalling their congregations. So when i made my record "Radio Silence" I slipped up in the booth and cussed I did not write that way but my emotions got the best of my intelligence (which is what artistry is about in my opinion but i digress) and yeah i said it even though I did not mean to. I also wrote a poem a few years ago depicting the way that President Obama hair was visibly showing stress and by how he was treated by the country that elected him entitled "The greying of Obama." The last line of the poem calls him an expletive. It is not my intention to swear at him at this moment the character of the poem is the current wave of hate that has swept the nation. Lastly, while i think Mr. Anyabwile made many valid and very good points to which i don't necessarily disagree. A major issue with Chistians in general and blacks in partcular is the feeling of wanting to crucify a person for a mistake or even a sin. Who gives any of us a right to do that? I'm not saying one cannot be critical, but by God don't be cynical ... I apologize for the rant I usually don't comment but this video touched a nerve. Peace!

    I don't understand why is there a debate about if you should be called a Christian or not. We always try to skip around the truth of God's word. This Pastor is speaking God's word not ours. Which means that their is no room for error when "the word of God" is taught in its proper context. Some of us are shook and don't wanna believe the facts.Yes, I still struggle with cussing, but even when I wasn't "saved" and rapping I had enough sense to know that cussing in my lyrics was wrong. Everything this Pastor said was 100% Godly wisdom laced with God's holy word.

It is sad what the 116 clix has done to cause so much confusion to the body of believers that gravitate to CHH. Especially Andy Mineo cussing and making excuses for it. His arrogance makes it even worse..."Keep your $10.00." He has forgotten that the people that love Christ supported him when he was poor and starting off.

    Good sound doctrine. One problem is that some pastors are advocates of "cussing" and they lead a congregation of "cussing" Christians. These are some of the leaders in this thing called Christianity. That's more dangerous than any regular "cussing" Christian because justification can be found in lukewarm leadership.

    I know without certainty that these guys mean well and have good intentions but to separate yourself from God in order to bring the lost to Him is foolishness. It's always said "I want to reach more." But without Christ It can't be done.
    Let's say one does succeed in saving many lost souls in exchange for your now defiled soul. What purpose is it to gain the world and lose your soul? I know it's not the exact same thing the scripture originally refers to but its use carries the same weight.

  • @HeirBornMusic
    @HeirBornMusic 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wholeheartedly agree, but where are the young people, those without the salt and pepper (much respect to Pastor Anyabwile) that can actually look at the scriptures themselves and say the same thing without a pastor on Rapzilla giving them direction? Not that we don't need it, but the shame is on us that we do! Are we that conflicted in our own minds and hearts when it comes to the matters of worldliness and holiness that we don't know which one is which? Using profanity or unclean language as a person who names Christ as his or her Lord should raise some eyebrows and questions about that person's true heart. We forget that the Lord actually does have high standards. For salvation, only one, and that's through Christ. How we should live as His children? That's as Christ.

      I find Thabiti does focus on African American Christian viewpoints a lot. But he is 100% reformed, even if I don't always agree with his focus. I believe he is led by the holy spirit.
      If he holds to the pure truth, his cultural focus though different from mine isn't that important, because the bond of Christians is Christ ALONE, not as much political views. Christ transcends all that stuff, he transcends political views, in fact he is way above them. Black slaves were saved in the time of slavery, as I believe likely some slave owners were saved. But now that slavery is gone, blacks and whites are still saved irrespective of culture. The cultural context does not affect that spiritual salvation. I am very much against what happened during slavery and against racism, but any cultural viewpoint is in many ways irrelevant when it comes to the gospel. You're either saved by God or you're not, your culture is just where you are when you encounter Gods salvation. It's a tough subject, one which isn't politically correct at all though.

    • @Dpiiiius
      @Dpiiiius 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What? First off he doesn't "race peddle", he preaches the truth. There are gross racial injustices in this nation that need to be addressed by and in the church. And second why are you cussing? You sound insane. Maybe you should check your own heart & learn about the world outside of your little bubble instead of hopping on TH-cam videos talking nonsense out of a spirit of hate.

      Wesley Little I want a clear definition of cursing though, because if we ask 10 people on this youtube thread, you'll get different answers, some based on opinion, some based on truth. Of course somethings will come down to not defiling conscience regardless of what's permissible, but still, we need a clear definition. Why can't people use the "f" word, or the "b" word? I don't condone throwing those words around... AT ALL, but it seems most people don't use those words because they're taboo, not because it's wrong.

    • @snapkrr
      @snapkrr 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EagleZtoTheGrave well God told us not to be rude. Cuss words are objective, if the people you are talking to dont view the words as hurtful or rude, then its fine. There is communication and there are morals. Dont mix them together. I feel that guys like, Ruslan, Beleaf may be trying to reach the ghetto and low class areas of america. These people do not view certain words as rude as others do, like a lot of people in the church. As long as you are using your communication to benefit others and show them grace, it doesnt matter what words you do to do it, and matters about what you're saying.

    • @snapkrr
      @snapkrr 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EagleZtoTheGrave examples of this are seen in the use of the n word. Before the end of segregation, the n word use to be used to be offensive. Now street dudes throw it around like its nothing, so the word has changed meaning, and so its not "rude" anymore like it was in the past.
