  • H.B. Charles joins Mark Dever and Thabiti Anyabwile to discuss Thabiti’s latest book, “Reviving the Black Church.” What might the larger body of Christ glean from the strengths of the black church? What might we think about monochromatic churches given what Revelation depicts about God’s kingdom? As pastor H.B. says, “biblical discipleship is committed to reaching all the nations.”

There should not be just "Black Church Or White Church" but should be GOD'S Church.

We must get away from Self Segregation in the Church, and this starts with preaching a pure Gospel; and stop appending our racial profiles to the assemblies of the bride of Christ.

The Lord illustrated that the sin begins in the mind of man. The mental bondage enslaves man staying separated from other children of God. Money and occupation seems to unite better than man's said faith. Most men and women seem to be able come together to build the kingdom of Apple, Wal-Mart, IBM, or Nike but when it comes to building God's kingdom most want to build with stones that look and sound like us.
May God bless and keep you.

It is tragic when we place race, color or gender above our allegiance to KING JESUS (just like the world). As an immigrant in this country, I have the choice of joining a church with "my people" who speak my language and share my culture but if I found value in that, I would have stayed in Mexico. The body of Christ transcends all superficial differences. TRUE DIVIRCITY IS ONLY FOUND IN THE BODY OF CHRIST. I attend a church where the supremacy of CHRIST IS EXALTED not any ones biases or preferences. I am a CHRISTIAN by God's grace first and foremost, even when I love many aspects my own culture. WE NEED each other for KING JESUS to continue to expose the racism, bigotry, prejudice that still resides in the hearts of many who still refuse to leave their comfort, "their people" no matter what their excuse is.

If the black church is "diverse", why is it called the black church?

    • @lc3507

Diverse in worship, preaching styles, and practical ministry practices. In other words, every black church does not do church and ministry the same way...diverse.

You know, I see nothing wrong with black churches. I don’t have a problem with Indian churches. I don’t have a problem with the 4 Korean churches that are on the way to my more diverse church. But here’s my question: is it okay to have a white church, per se? Probably not. But why? Why do we recoil at the idea of a “white” church and not at the idea of a “non-white” church? And we absolutely do. I would just challenge my brothers and sisters with this: ask yourselves if you’re influenced by our culture more than the gospel. Are you anti-white anything because our American culture has made it acceptable to hate whites more than any other culture?

As it was said in the video, the black church was a response to there already being a white church and them being excluded. The formation of indian churches and korean churches are not due to segregation or sin, but language issues. So its a different context.
