I will never understand why people completely destroy the ambience of OoT in these UE remakes by pumping the saturation to 500%, adding a ridiculous amount of particles, making the character models ultra realistic instead of stylized and why they never do proper animations for once to not make the animations look off in 60/120FPS. There's no weight to link, his turnarounds are instantaneous.

This 'remake' rid the game of any art-style, also the animations are pretty janky. I think this is a good attempt, and I can understand the effort but this is not a good result. This remake is not very good. Also I'm tired of seeing these 'unity' or 'unreal engine' showcase videos about remaking old games where they upscale texture/outright change the texture and ruin the artstyle of it. Throwing a bunch of bloom effects and reflective surfaces does not make your 'remake' better, it looks like trash and it hurts my eyes. It's always the same fucking thing and they all look the same with slight differences. The ui is the biggest offender I swear.

I always tried to imagine what magic would look like if it were real and what Hyrule would look like if it actually existed in real life. Keep up the work, maybe one day we'll be able to see through unreal engine.
Tbh, I think the effort going into this project would be better spent on making some kind of graphics overhaul for Ship of Harkinian or the OOT Recomp when that releases. I don't think recreating the entire game in UE5 is really necessary when the PC ports have so much room for expansion and modification without the need to actually build the game first. I don't mean to disparage the work that's been put into this project, I just think that the future of OOT lies in those ports rather than a fan remake.

I enjoyed watching some of this. Im 37, so I dont play video games, but this was a fun trip down nostalgia lane. This was a favorite of mine in 98/99. Nice work.
Although a little rough I think it looks fantastic. A lot of the criticism seems like it's coming from salty game devs who have never made anything nearly as awesome in their lives.
Makes me wonder why Nintendo never made an actual upgrade to Ocarina of Time? On console how it started. Like they only brought it to the 3DS level of 3D. Same thing with Majora's Mask. They didn't get the same treatment as Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. But at this time, they should be able to make the game look crisp and amazing. Just look at how Link looks in Melee. I've always wanted to see him in that style of graphics back in an upgraded Ocarina of Time.
I love that people think this is being developed as a product for them when reaslistically, due to copyright laws, this will likely never be sold, distributed or otherwise played by anyone else.

this looks amazing, it needs some little details worked on obviously like the jittery characters and loading screen but overall this is the best remake i have seen for the ocarina of time and its a shame Nintendo can't/won't make a remake of this game so you have to either own a 3DS or N64 or sub to Nintendo switch online to play it. (or emulate it)

I thought this looked amazing when it started, many years ago at this point. But now not so much. Not sure if thats because the other parts since then have been rushed (specifically cutscenes), or simply, time has passed, standards have changed. The animations are janky, the characters are off model, the art style of the original is gone and the new visuals look generic, the sound mixing is unbalanced, etc.

I'll never understand the obsession with slapping "HD" graphics on old 3D games. I'm sure the dev learned a lot on this project and that's honestly the best takeaway from this, but it's such a tired trope. I think their skill set could be better used towards anything else. "Realistic" graphics are boring as hell and only appeal to the annual AAA consumers.
So overall, the visuals are nice and warm. The animations though are clunky and could definitely use some work. I think now that we have an idea of what could be with this project, the dev can work on those quality of life improvements that can be more pleasing to the eye of the player. Since this a remake, i believe that its all about reimagining the game, rather than the game being identitical to the original in every aspect aside from the graphics. We definitely see this in the size of the world, but we could also see this for how link moves around and what not. Maybe have him do front flips and stuff while he's jumping like in majoras mask. Just some thoughts moving foward.

The field looks a bit too matte and... tall and grassy. I thought it was supposed to be based on an English Moorland that naturally naturally has rolling hills of shorter grass as opposed to an American "field" where you go to get bitten by ticks.

I always wondered if it would be cool to get rid of the subtitles and actually have them talk... It would either be a huge or bust.Ruining the atmosphere of the game. Idk what do you all think? Should they re master ocarina of time, without the subtitles?And have them actually talking?

The field looks a bit too matte and... tall and grassy. I thought it was supposed to be based on an English Moorland that naturally naturally has rolling hills of shorter grass as opposed to an American "field" where you go to get bitten by ticks.
