She really knew that silent despair because she had been there herself.
Courageous lady. She was terrified of public speaking, yet didn't let her fear stop her from reaching out to other women who were also suffering.
    Incredible strength Diana had.

I’m glad she said all that, she said it with intelligence, clarity and no word salad. She obviously knew about the unhappiness herself and wanted to help others. A certain person now talks in circles about unimportant things resolved 20 years ago!

I am so amazed at how Princess Diana explained my illness in footage I have never seen before. Abandoned by friends and family, you bet I was. I have always been overly sensitive and I was punished for that. I asked my mother, at age 19, to speak to a psychologist. She said no. The aftermath was horrific but I send this message with hope and true feelings: that I am a unique individual. I miss Diana.but her voice and message carries on thru her children and thru these precious youtube memories.

how are you Lori? if therapy is for our well being or well fare why isn't it provided in welfare? they give out food stamps. what about couch stamps? therapy is too important to cost so much money. I have to pay you to help me not kill myself? that's evil. there should be a crypto coin just to pay the greedy doctors who will only treat you for cash. pure evil. I'm not a pride ful person but I have to pay you hundreds per hour for advice on how not to kill myself? how good of a person that such be? I get it. I'm paying for their expertise. they became a doctor for money not to actually help people regardless bc they themselves are economically enslaved. it's the lack of available therapy that raises the crime rate. criminals who aren't offered help just become more of a danger to society. only a rich white kid can get therapy and that's horrible. it's hard to talk to someone whose only listening to you bc you're paying them to buy new fancy suits. My Mom wants to get me therapy but there's no food here and we are behind on rent how can I waste those resources? the damage is done.

Yes likely probably why it was important for her to break the stigma she probably knew if it could happen to her it was happening to lots of others too that also had to just hide it. It's part of the abuse the isolation and lack of support. She was depressed and they viewed her vulnerability as good cause to kick her while she was down and somehow thought that reflected poorly on her instead of themselves.

Depression, regardless of gender, is a growing problem in our society. We all need the support of friends and family as well as Medical professionals. I agree it is difficult to listen to someone talk about their problems, and few if any understand the damage they inflict by turning a deaf ear to the problems of their friends or family. .

Princess Diana hit the nail on the head. People do not really accept depression in women. We are expected to cope with it and not bother others with our problems. She is absolutely correct in that putting a lid on our feelings is not an answer to this illness. Women that try to share their true feelings with friends and family find they are often abandoned by those same people, regardless of how badly they need help. Diana is sorely missed every single day. God bless her and keep her.

It is unimaginable to hear her and realize that every day that she gave us compassion and joy ,,,,in her brief life, when she herself was plagued by a traumatic life, few of us could envisage,
,A husband who married her with his mistress in the shadows... only to discard her when she had the heir and spare and refused to share him, a royal system that horrendously failed protecting her , acting all the while that this , was the norm even to the extent of labeling her neurotic when she dared to query the hypocrisy,....,driving her out of the marrage to her untimely tragic death finally,
How she found the strength to be empathetic to the multitude of humanitarian causes she involved her self in despite her tragic life ,is the testament to which she will always, be loved , cherished and revered , more and more with the passing of time ....,immortalised in history, as one of the most iconic figures in the world,,

Princess Diana and Michael Jackson had an extraordinary understanding of what truly ails society.. a very high level of emotional intelligence.. and they both felt an empathetic outrage to change things. Though their lives looked glittering from outside, They experienced tremendous suffering themselves that connected them to humanity. Two very courageous and compassionate people, and this is why they are loved.. beyond the beauty or talent. They were charismatic, eloquent and influential.. which made them very powerful and they dared to try and use their power to push change. Any wonder the media had such an agenda against the both of them?

I think men suppress their feelings even more than women. 75% of suicides are men. I don't think women have the shorter end of the stick on this one. People don't like hearing about your problems, much less helping you, regardless of your gender. Thank you for your lovely comment.

She was so very necessary in this world. Ironic her sons especially Harry would suffer from his own level of depression so much so that they would seek professional help.

I’m a Christian but I went through the kundalini experience. Everything was like pixels and those we think who are involved in our lives are nothing but a facade. It was so weird because I’m just a random Mexican girl but who never had such an experience.. after that I found a catholic middle Easter a sign.. man 17 years older but also realiZing I needed it to be over. This woman went through so much that I went through but I was poor and she was rich.. the mantality doesn’t make the difference I’m glad the boys will always see her as a good mommy compared to Charles.. they knew genuine love with Diana

I wonder why she cared that much? I believe she felt and suffered too. Why anything real is that difficult just because not wrapped with glitter.

"whether these drugs were given in a genuine attempt to help or whether they were offered as a means of making her more tranquil and acceptable to those around her, the effect can be the same. these pills will tend to make a woman more passive; to help her conform to the norm: but whose norm is it? Isn't it normal not to be able to cope all the time? Isn't it normal for women, as well as men, to feel frustrated with life? Isn't it normal to feel angry and to want to change a situation that is hurting? Perhaps we need to look more closely at the cause of the illness rather than attempt to suppress it; to accept that putting a lid on powerful feelings and emotions cannot be a healthy option; that to offer women the opportunity to explain their predicament sooner could be a far more effective use of limited resources rather than wait until their strength to survive has been sapped. As long as the real reasons for their problems go unnoticed and unattended, they will continue to pass on to the next generation their disability. If we as a society continue to disable women by encouraging them to believe they should only do things that are thought to benefit their family, even if these women are damaged in the process, if they feel they never have the right to do anything that is just for themselves, if they feel they must sacrifice everything for their loved ones, even at the cost of their health, their inner strength and their own self-worth- they will live only in the shadow of others, and their mental health will surely follow. But if we can help to give them back their right to fulfill their own potential and to share that with their family, children, or friends, maybe fewer women would find themselves living a life that is bleak beyond belief. Those women who have taken on the heavy burden of attending to others need also to be attended: not just for their own sake but for the good of us all; health and happiness taken at the cost of others' pain and suffering cannot be acceptable. Women have a right to their own peace of mind. Each person is born with individual qualities and potential. We as a society owe it to women to create a truly supportive environment into which they too can grow and move forward; but if we are to help the quiet desperate lives lived behind closed doors by so many women, they need to know for certain that they are not alone; that real support and understanding is there for them."

Depression is a term people who don't know how to be next to others give them. It's actually a projective term of their own inadequacies. Think about it
