Very different genre but this is the same reason Red Hot Chili Peppers are great. The album Blood Sugar Sex Magik has some awesome heavy riffs like ‘Sir psycho sexy’ but equally many slow, jazzy pieces. The lyrics however are a bit more questionable in quality 😂
He transmuted the guitar into an emotional language within itself. If that makes sense outside of my head 😅 I appreciate when artists don't hold back on expressing their "voice" no matter the medium. Be it vocals, gtr etc
@@pmx2n Their solos are underrated, but the fact Soma's solo has never been included in a top 10 guitars solos ever is criminal. P.S wouldn't mind seeing you play that one!
There are so many incredible songs that never got the airplay thru deserved. Songs like Geek USA, Frail and Bedazzled…Jimmy and Billy feed off one another.
My first concert was Smashing Pumpkins with Garbage as the opener. Mellon Collie tour. They ended their set playing "The Aeroplane Flies High", "Silverf*ck", and "Drown" all back to back to back. It was the most epic thing my 12 year old self ever saw and I still remember it vividly.
I saw Smashing Pumpkins Twice. Once at a very small 1,200 person venue in Memphis in 1992-93 and on April 8, 1994 in Biloxi. I think there is video of the Biloxi show on TH-cam. Second show was on the day they found Kurt Cobain’s body. They didn’t close with Silverfuck. I saw Nirvana on Dec 3, 1993 in New Orleans. What a show.
Panopticon, Chimera...classic riffs in their own right. Glissandra harkens to the techno-sheen of Machina 🎧🤩 The gtr solo on My Love Is Winter, triumphant! I get it's maybe not BC soloing but it's classic rock meets classic Pumpkins in all the BEST WAYS Imho...😄
Oh hell yeah! Probably my second favorite band, there's so much underrated guitar work from billy. I love the inclusion of drown, that riffs been hitting lately :)
Thank you so much for doing drown. I feel like it's a very underrated song that a lot of people should listen to, not because the lyrics, but just because of how the music can make you feel.
They got a lot of those, remember Pastichio Medley like almost half an hour of 5-10 sec snippets of riffs that didn't became songs, what a time of hyper creativity.
Everyone here go listen to Geek USA right now if you haven’t heard it. Sit there in awe about how it wasn’t one of their most popular and how fast Corgan plays that riff
I'm always facinated by people like billy corgan. You know when their songwriting ability is just unparalelled and you just wonder how a brain can come up with this shit
As one was in my late teens early 20s when this stuff came out. I’ve got some grouse lol material for you to write your own masterpieces on. That dorky book the bible. You have skill have a crack mate
Zero followed by 1979 really shows how versatile Smashing Pumpkins were. Their ability to be both heavy and emotional is why I love them so much
And CR & Today before that. So all together they go Rocking-Happy-Angry-Sad-Chill lol
That song feels ahead of its time in a weird way.
Zero is not a good song. And im a sp fan
@@Someoneisinmyhead 0 is 1 of my top favorites.
It is iconic.
I too, am an SP fan. 😄
Billy Corgan really doesn’t get enough credit as a guitarist, I swear the Smashing Pumpkins have some great riffs. His guitar tones to!
Some great solos too 🤘
Some great riffs? They have a plethora of great intricate complicated riffs. No need to hold back
He transmuted the guitar into an emotional language within itself.
If that makes sense outside of my head 😅
I appreciate when artists don't hold back on expressing their "voice" no matter the medium. Be it vocals, gtr etc
It’s a shame any guitar talent he has it vastly outshined by his douchebaggery.
@@pmx2n Their solos are underrated, but the fact Soma's solo has never been included in a top 10 guitars solos ever is criminal. P.S wouldn't mind seeing you play that one!
1979 is such an emotional song! He really captured the feeling of nostalgia with that one!!!
"Here is no why" is such an underrated pumkins riff one of my favs

So happy to see Drown. One of the best songs on the singles soundtrack.
And the version on that soundtrack is the best one as well because of the epic feedback ending it has.
Here is the best version they did and it's Live, ENJOY!!!!!!!!
th-cam.com/video/bmSlGFuS7oQ/w-d-xo.html
Drown’s riff is so beautiful man
It's incredible
Billy and James guitar singing together in Drown is the most beautiful thing
Lost my virginity to that riff
There are so many incredible songs that never got the airplay thru deserved. Songs like Geek USA, Frail and Bedazzled…Jimmy and Billy feed off one another.

You were blessed, so much.
Cherub Rock was one of the riffs first riffs I learned so it's so nostalgic
What does the X mean in the first set of tabs?
@@jill875 It means string muting
@@jill875 muting, those two octave notes are kinda called the Hendrix chord/pumpkins chord, so many pumpkins songs are built off of um
Corgan is my favourite guitar player. Melodic yet powerful!
That natural harmonic sound in Zero's riff is heaven to my ears. ❤
Stone Temple Pilots played the same thing on Sex Type Thing.
HELL YEAH MY FAVORITE BAND!!!!!
Zero, bullet with butterfly wings, the aeroplane flies high, mayonnaise, bodies, the everlasting gauze all bangers from the band
Hummer
I love the resurgence of people appreciating the pumpkins

I know it’s not popular but I love all the stuff off their Oceania album
The Celestials is such a good song
Super underrated album, nobody gives it a chance because of when it was released but it has a really unique vibe to it.
Panopticon, Chimera...classic riffs in their own right. Glissandra harkens to the techno-sheen of Machina 🎧🤩

i love the celestials and the chimera :)
these all sound great
1979 is pure nostalgia! Love Smashing Pumpkins.
This and all the music musicians come up with is pure magic! I have so much appreciation for musicians. So much talent.
This is just perfect in every way, beautiful man, beautiful guitar, and beautiful music.
Where is my mayo?
He played it in this video:

Mayo is the best, when they hit that first harmony
Probably left it out because of the tuning lmao

@@juljasmahThe lead is only a half step down! But yes, Ira’s tuning is batshit bizarre
Smashing Pumpkins have so many awesome riffs
Cherub rock 👌 they're all such great songs and take you right back to the 90's each time you hear them.
Nothing ever melted my face like the solos from Gish and Siamese Dream
The 1979 verse is a god tier riff, I can’t even accurately describe how it makes me feel, pure joy, nostalgia and sadness all in one.
always gonna be my fav, i love how some songs can be so simple and others very complex
Really nailed the tone here! Well done.

they're so diverse and i love them for that :)
I went to hit thumbs up on this video and it was already highlighted from watching it in the past.

Drown is honestly one of my favorite songs and that riff is just SO good
Those are seriously the riffs I typically warm up with!
Drown fave 4ever, that Singles soundtrack is heavenly
Well done there brother! Absolutely love your long toil for this love of ours! Takes me back to another life immediately 👏 👏 👏
Someone: "how many songs can someone actually write with an open E string"
Billy Corgan: "Yes"
Sounds great to me! Very nicely done! Zero is such a great song. 1979 usually goes on a long loop when I am jamming to music.
Your content never fails. PMX2N has been awesome to watch as a beginner.
I LOVE The Pumpkins ! They need more love !
Great work...all.brilliantly executed and nailed every one them!
Как хорошо на душе стало. Пошёл переслушивать
Brings back memories of 90s rock
Drown is underappreciated
All of these bring me back. Holy shit 🙉🙌🎉
Love them all. Pumpkins rule. Im betting they will be listened to in a hundred years from now.😊
Absolutely genius riffs
Drowning is my favorite, not on the list but thats the way, also love today, and 1979. Outstanding work
1979 is the nicest, feel so comfortable 😊
Great job man!! Love your videos, you do some of the coolest stuff.
Drown is my fav riff by them so catchy
They got a lot of those, remember Pastichio Medley like almost half an hour of 5-10 sec snippets of riffs that didn't became songs, what a time of hyper creativity.
Was hoping you'd do drown! Great stuff man!
The Smashing Pumpkins should have been in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame before Green Day!!!!!!!
Drown is probably my favorite
Don’t know why I needed to see that. Thank you!
Love that swirling riff from chrub rock. So damn nice.
Ahhhh, the memories. Thx for that. Nice work too.❤

Drown is etched in my head for life
My favourite top 5 or close very cool I love smashing pumpkins
Man, I was waiting for Mayonaise, but I can't argue with these.
Great now I have to listen to the full version of Drown with the feedback solo.
Tone is spot on
Awesome. You should do one with their heaviest riffs.
All of them are so damn briliant
Glad Drown made it. Such an amazing song.
Bodies is iconic too me off Melon Collie & Infinite Sadness ❤❤❤❤
My favorite riff is cherub rock. Love them all Loved smashing pumpkins since I first heard Today in ‘93…on CD! 😂
very good vid thanks
Pen Cap Chew blew my mind back in the day.
Just saw them open for green day and they were so good
I completely forgot Drown existed. That riff is amazing

Great list. Honorable mention: "Here is no why".
You should do bullet with butterfly wings
Hell yeah dude. Keep rocking!
Now I have to go take a listen. Cherub Rock then 1979...
'Quiet' is still my fav.
They love those octaves
