    update re advice below from Kev on ring bedding issue - 4 hrs on the rotorvator - not a drop blowing out all sealed up a treat - thanks for the guidance😊

    Thank you for your guidance. One thing on which I wold appreciate your advice is the fifth ring. I have read numerous times, including in MF bulletins, that the ring below the gudgeon pin should not be fitted as this starves the upper rings of lubrication and causes excessive wear. Has the lower ring been modified to prevent this? Thank you.

      As with another comment I've had never heard of that Ive always fitted it with no problems.

    working on a 23c at the moment just watched great video but im wondering it says in a book i have not to install the bottom oil ring as its known to damage the engine, what are your thoughts install or leave out ?

    how do you bed rings in? some say work tractor hard - after rebuild mine was fine for 2hrs the it started blowing oil - rear crank seal 1 pint hr and breather pipe!

      Hi thank you for your comment, I would work the tractor hard but gradually getting harder and I have found that works for me. As for the oil problem you must have some of the rings failed. The rear crankshaft seal either the spring in the seal is broken or loose or there is a wear mark on the end of the crankshaft. Sorry can’t help much more but it’s hard with out the tractor in front of me.
