Remember seeing this as a kid in the uk. The crazy dancing the guitarist and bassist is legendary!
When I first heard this it was a great song. 40 odd years later I see it's a reflection of my life.

Roland’s voice was totally unique and instantly recognisable.
What a great, distinctive voice, Roland had.

It's alright with headphones on this. A lot of people say 80's stuff has dated badly. I don't know if its cause I was a young kid back then but it still sounds good to me. And good art never ages!
I agree. But towards the end of the 80s, TOTP did have a load of rubbish on it.
The '80s were the last continual years of good music. After that there was a good album every now and then but nothing constant.
Tears for Fears are the perfect example.

All the remastered stuff sounds 10 times better. Old times had the talent, the new times have the technology for perfect music reproduction. The remasters are usually superior to the CD releases back in the 90s.

I used to know Roland's sister helga at about this time as I was dating her best friend she lived just down the road from me in Hull and I met her brother (Roland) once briefly at her flat in Anlaby Road, nice guy rather shy and quite humble about his status.. That was like 30 odd years ago !

Well Johnny grew up, but was made redundant by Thatcher. So he had to go home, alas he couldn't get in as they were drunk, every night, so he went to the city, where it was cold and there was nothing to eat and he wished he could go home, but there was no home to go to.

I did love these guys, but I've been laughing myself silly - one of the guys was dancing as if he either had itching powder in his trousers, somebody had injected him with a spinal block and he was trying desperately to feel his legs, or doing a Norman Wisdom impression! 😆
