I’ve only seen a few videos with Ron, but I always love them. And I respect his willingness to talk about making a mistake with overstimulating one of these guys while also not paying attention to him, how dangerous it was (getting bit in the face by a monitor is just…), and clearly having learned and adjusted his behavior
Awesome episode, as an Australian watching people from other parts of the world get excited about Australian reptiles makes me realise how lucky I am as a reptile keeper and that I need some more lace monitors 😜😂
Thanks Kenan What a wonderful collection that he has. You were so excited to see all the different types of monitor's that he had. I bet that you saw some that you wanted. Such a wonderful facility. Very nice enclosures. He takes excellent care of all of his reptiles.❤monitor's. Cindy
It's great to see everybody's setups. I rehab wildlife (mammals and sometimes birds) and many of the enclosures you've shown would be great for what I do here in Los Angeles, with small modifications, of course. Being able to remove panels and redesign on the spot is brilliant.
Very sad to see Chandler’s really big girl be sick and die. Much like birds, they are stoic and don’t really show their illness until it’s too late to do anything.
I have a normal phase lace monitor that walks up from the bush on our property and walks around our verandah. We also have beardies and wallabies, kookaburras etc all in our back yard on our property. We also hand feed wild kookaburras with worms from our vegetable garden. We are very lucky 💚
*KamP Kenan* please 🙏🏼🥺 get some Bells face or Lacey monitors, Giant Perenti monitors and giant green south american Anoles? When are you receiving more Blue tongue skinks, another pair of "Blue Rock Iguanas", and some Solomon Island Monkey tailed Skinks? I miss your ears footage antics with Solomon and Eldiablo 😢
Saw a lace monitor about 2 feet away from me during my trip to Fraser Island last year. Didn't even know there was a 4 foot monitor next to us till we heard the branches and leaves rustle on the floor. The next day a lace monitor came into the camp around breakfast time expecting food. Was in hands distance just looking for scraps, the camp workers say the monitors come to the restaurant area every day because they know they will find food.
The Australian water monitor (Marty). My mate has one here in Australia and got videos of them sleeping in the water with its head poking out. Was a full fish tank setup with floating platform with basking lights. Still got proper sunlight. Absolutely loves the fish tank with feeder fish in their. Awesome to see it swim and catch the fish underwater for food
What an incredible family Ron has! So many gorgeous babies. I can't wait to have a family that large and diverse! Thank you so much for sharing with us, Kenan! 🤘
@Kamp Kenan We met and chatted when you were in Sydney (David K). The next time you come to Australia I'll take you to a couple of reliable lace monitor spots. I occasionally get them in my back yard but I have a couple of spots not far from here where you can predictably find them any warm summer day. I also have a couple of heath monitor (Varanus rosenbergi) spots not too far away, but they're not as predictably easy to find.
Kenan, you should really buy a lace monitor because every time you see it you become very happy. You are like a child who looks at a lego set even though he knows he can't get it but always goes to the toy store to look at it again. I also think it would be very nice for us to see this beautiful animal and learn more about this animal. sorry for bad english
I'm from Australia and can confirm! Yes they do seal your camp food and go through everything looking for it. Also they tend to be twice to 3x the girth of the ones there!
I admit the ones you could just walk up and pet are pretty cool. Black throats and their cousins with the same big head bumps are a somewhat calmer monitor.. But generally speaking I would never encourage people to get any monitor lizard. Too many monitors abandoned. They are totally unpredictable, expensive as hell to feed and house and keep healthy, and tend to be mean, and messy, Which is 100% of the reason people give up and abandon them or raise them improperly in not proper enclosures. (I'd be grumpy too if you shoved me in a tiny hot box when I am used to running and exploring many MANY miles per day. Even the calm big heads love to explore and have miles range in the wild!)
As much as I love reptiles I do not have the funds to be able to travel and go see collections like this show TH-cam and having you and other Keepers that do travel you guys are the ones who give us that are sitting at home with the bearded dragon dreaming of having the monitor you guys are the ones they give us the chance to learn and experience all the new species that we know nothing about thank you for that! 😎
Hi Kenan if you get back to Australia mate check out the picnic area at boarding house dam in the Watagan state forest in NSW. Get your lunch out & your camera it won’t take long & you’ll get some lacey’s checking you right out cheers from down under 🦘🦘🦎
Beautiful monitor!! I would love to see one in person! Just a fascinating animal! Love watching ur slinky! We love reptiles! We have 1 female bearded dragon and she is our pride and joy! Good video!:)
It was good to catch up with you while you were down in Australia at the Hawkesbury reptile show earlier this year , we do have monitors all over the place and to be fair it was a weird year with bushfires followed by mass amounts of rain and by rights you should have been able to see them running around wild i fo know that Camo's reptiles has quite a collection of monitors perhaps next time your down you'll get to catch them out and about, Also Uncle Neville said to say hi and he.hopes to catch you next trip.
U should consider getting an ackie monitor since it's a smaller species and maybe try to breed them they are kinda hard to find. Also u make some great videos.
Bearded dragons in Australia live in our dry, but close to tropical landscapes as well. I've also found bearded dragons in my backyard on the coastal side of Queensland where it is really humid.
Hey Kenan , I been wanting a lace monitor. They are very cool monitors. I use to have a Nile monitor for a long time. It’s good to know that the lace monitors can withstand some cold temps.
Would love to meet you if you come back to Australia, and learn some more about Monitors! I know a few places where Monitors frequent and steal sausages when you're having a BBQ.
Spencer's are from the north east of northern australia, way north east of central beardeds, more where rankins dragons are from, the black soil plains Nice vid,Great assortment of monitors,I can agree with the cold hardiness of lace monitors,I'm I'm the extreme south east corner of mainland Aus and mine handle the near 6 month long cold winters with no added heat
Awesome place, can't wait to see more...quite a few picnic grounds here in australia do get them, maybe not that particular monitor...there's a place i go to and over the years the big ones have gone missing and the younger ones have taken over, its sad cause you wonder what happened to them...they can be very nasty when it comes to food...if they are scared they will run for the closest tree and if you in the way, they have been known to mistake people for trees...you can imagine the injuries...
The *Albigularis* aka Cape Monitor lizard looks alot like it's ancestor the *Iguanadon* cause of it's personality, eating habits, tolerance of extreme cold and head Structure.. @KampKenan
New to the channel and love what you do. Suggestion: Have you ever though about a GPS dog type collar to put on lizards like Slinky when cleaning out his cage. They are best cheap these days.
Those Spencer's Monitors were amazing! I had no idea anyone in the US had or bred these! It makes me wounder if anyone has Perenties and even more unlikely Komodo Dragons
I’m not gonna lie Kenan, some cultures in my country eat them. Like even if they were run over by cars, some would pick them up and put into soup. There’s like a market for these things near the border and they either sell em for meat or pets
I have bred Spencers. Pretty easy to breed and nice to keep. They will calm pretty well but always food oriented. When you get bit, be aware it stings like a witch. They have a small amount of venom in their saliva (like many monitors) and it hurts all out of proportion to the size of the nip! A glancing scrape from one of mine opened my fingernail like it wasn’t even there and it throbbed and stung for hours. Keep them on low fat foods as they tend to suffer from fatty liver very easily so no oversized fat prey like rats and mice very often. I always fed mine one day of rats/mice (young ones so not too fat) and then a couple of days of beef heart or similar. Nice monitors! p.s. check for cane toads often as spencers will eat them and it will kill them when they do.
MR. BLOOD BOA CONSTRICTOR congrats to Ron discovering the first and bringing our hobby the blood boas look where there are today with the albino sharp and kahl albino blood boas just REMARKABLE!!!! to put it mildly Ron's really one of the true pioneers along with tom crutchfield vinn Russo and a good friend of mine locally in ohio. My husband is Australian, in all of our trips back to see family, I have ONLY ever saw anole lizards ( as far as reptiles go) in the wild! Such a let down! I told him I want a return on my Aussie hubby since this one takes me to all the wrong places apparently ( I was just kidding) but I did see a lot of their spiders and insects ...gross!! I married him for the reptiles and get exoskeletol sightings only!! Okay yes, I saw kangaroos, rabbits and lots of birds too.
Such beautiful reptiles, dream reptiles I must say. So happy to see them being well taken care of. Thank you Lamp and thanks to the couple for showing us your awesome collection. #letskeeplizardsalive 💙 🦎

Love your positivity and your efforts to bring other experts onto your channel. You're a good egg, Kenan.
Appreciate it🤠
Kenan is like a kid in a candy store. I think I would be too. What an awesome place. Thanks for taking us along on this one Kenan you rock man.
Thanks man🤠

Everyones talking about how they love the video and cant wait for the next one.. But it just came out like 3 minutes ago
Some might be patreon supporters with early access?
Probably
Patreon got it Saturday afternoon.
The enthusiasm is infectious! I absolutely love monitors! 20+ years later and I can’t see myself ever not having monitors.
It's great to see everybody's setups. I rehab wildlife (mammals and sometimes birds) and many of the enclosures you've shown would be great for what I do here in Los Angeles, with small modifications, of course. Being able to remove panels and redesign on the spot is brilliant.
Kenan: “If I get bit it’s my fault”
Me: he’d do better around horses than most people
Poor Chandler recently his monitor passed away, she was like his puppy he had her since he was 10. He was devastated. So sad.
Very sad to see Chandler’s really big girl be sick and die. Much like birds, they are stoic and don’t really show their illness until it’s too late to do anything.
Hahahah

I appreciate you all editing out curse words. It makes me more comfortable with letting my kiddos watch.
Thomas B agreed, only reason I let my kids watch Kenan is I can trust no weird stuff or f bombs being dropped 👍😂
Just don’t let your kids watch that one Keenan video where the Monitor Lizard ripped his friend’s throat out.
*KamP Kenan* please 🙏🏼🥺 get some Bells face or Lacey monitors, Giant Perenti monitors and giant green south american Anoles?

Yeah lizards are just so special! HIS CROC MONITOR IS BLIND IN ONE EYE TOO?!
Took the thoughts outta my mind!
the export house probably has spotlight heat on 24/7. probably does something
There is a story behind the one eye blind one. I can't remember it though.

We see the Lace Monitors regularly when out 4wd driving and at camp spots. They will raid your camps at night for sure. They aren't too scared.
Ads break my concentration on the video but I don’t mind- gives me time to take a breath! Great video. I love monitors. Thanks!
First time I´ve seen a fully grown bells phase lace monitor. Very impressive! (:
By far one of my all time favorite videos these are my dream animals to own one day

Monitors are truly the king of lizards. Great episode K.
All animals were terrific. But the lace and the black dragon were a little more awesome. A really won in the world collection.
8:14 I love it tell us you sell these and that and she goes to answer and he turns around and walks away lmao.
Build more monitor apartment complexes and a chicken coop and get more of these in the Kamp, sir! 😬😂😂💪🏽💪🏽

FANTASTIC place!! Beautiful to watch 👍👍

WOW! Cooler monitors than a microcenter!!!!
That monitor that Ron fed is beautiful!!
I've seen plenty of laceys here in Aus😁
They normally love to run up trees when you approach and play peek a boo, And can be quite defensive too🤭

Hey Kenan on the lace monitors they are not effect buy you whether cause it's hotter then where they live here in Aus
All u need now is the Komodo Dragon Kenan
👍🤠Yes!
Lace moniters seem so much more agile and balanced than other ones, kinda like a cat like quality
