    Mr. Van Asten! My Grade 10 and 11 highschool science teacher. I was already a reptile hobbyist, and having your teacher be a reptile breeder as well was the coolest. Always brought in animals to class.

    2 years on and I still come back and watch this. Brandon is one of the best in our hobby and you did a marvelous job showcasing what he does. lets see if you can take a trip out there in 2024 to see what has changed and maybe pick yourself up a knob-tail gecko or a black tree monitor

So cool to finally see his facility and some of his monitors, I know he has a LOT of special things that didn't get shown. I would love to see Brandon with his own TH-cam channel too.

    I have definitely found my guy for greens yellows blues and blacks. I learned a lot from looking at his caging setups too. I had already thought of the idea of the cork tubes lining the back wall like that, so when you see a master doing it, you know your brain is in the right place. I am going to gravitate to a second species group with the Australian knob tails and a few others, so seeing him as a source for a lot of the animals I am planning on working with is a wonderful thing to glean from another one of your awesome videos my friend!! Congrats.

    11:20 That’s how my Zali is. He doesn’t hide so much anymore. But once he gets over the novelty of his enclosure. He just chills out. He used to favor his cork bark, he got over it. Then he favored this pile of sphagnum moss, got over that. Now he sits on rocks, unless he needs water. Animals just be super chill.

    I first thought the snout of all the Tree Monitors are a little bit damaged because of hitting the encloser but the fresh hatched manitors looks the same o.O
    and I have a question dont they need a high humidity? the enclosers are looking really dry and I dont see a watering system... or does it only looks so dry?

    What made you choose green over all the other tree monitor colours?

    • @Reptiliatus
      @Reptiliatus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, they are all so stunning but I just love the vibrant green on the V. prasinus! They also hold that colour so well as adults whereas although the are still stunning, I feel blues (would have been my next pick) dull a bit with age unless they receive great lighting/uvb and a varied diet full of beta carotenoids and other things that could/would promote strong colour.

      Yes he can however I’m not sure what that’s looking like now with Covid. You’d have to reach out to him.

    Quick question.. does he mist his enclosure?? He doesn’t seem like he have a humidifier.

      He does but it’s less frequently than you’d think. His enclosures hold in humidity fairly well but he’s always shared with me that the animals need less misting than you’d think. They have constant access to fresh water as seen in the video.

    Does anybody know what type of wood he uses for building his enclosures? And what it’s treated with for waterproofing??
