As a former iguana owner, getting a male iguana to have this kind of loving personality and not be a total A-hole is a HUGE achievement, it really shows love and dedication. Reptiles don't have a frontal lobe to their brains like humans, the part that controls emotions and communication and closeness and affection... but it's odd, when you care for them enough and spend enough time showing them love, they seem to take on very "mammal-like" aspects to their personality. I've seen it over and over and it gives me hope that maybe humans will also learn to be loving someday.
Sancho is beautiful and clearly well-loved and well cared for. So glad he was able to find a family who loved him as opposed to be treated like a class experiment or prop.
I love seeing reptiles receive this kind of love, devotion, and care. Thank you for showing people how full of affection and personality they can be, and emphasizing how much care they need, and that like any pet, they deserve time, love, and happiness. (I'll never forget the first time I held a snake, and realized how misperceived they are; that they're warm, curious, and fascinating. I was 5, and I fell in love that day. I've never had a reptile-pet, but they have a very special place in my heart and interacting with them is an absolute joy.)
Awe I love this!! As a kid growing up in Southern California, we had leopard geckos. Didn’t even know these massive iguanas existed lol Then I was introduced to Ball Pythons and I never in my wildest dreams thought they could show affection either
I can relate. I wanted to be a herpetologist. I bought my first snake, first reptile ever at 40 years old. A 30 inch burmese python. She is 5 ft now one year later and I just got a baby carpet python. I hope to buy a house soon for more space for my babies and some more brothers and sisters! I'm in an rv and my female burm will definitely need more space 😆
@@hellhathfurywedie9319 I envy you and your beautiful babies. The pythons I've met have been wonderful creatures - I remember a baby ball python I saw in a pet store back in 2011, and being so jealous of the person who got to take her home and love her for decades. I've never met a Burmese or a carpet. What are their personalities like? I remember my ex's dad telling me he gave up his rosy boa for his wife, and it made me so sad. This might sound terrible, but I remember thinking, "You should have kept the boa. Poor girl. She was your lifelong lady." They're a half-a-lifelong commitment, and need to be treated as such. I'm very happy to hear that yours are so loved. 💜
My Bearded Dragon boy is more loving and affectionate than any human could be. He wants to be cuddled all night and we usually let him sleep on me or my girlfriend. He will wake up from his naps he takes on me and crawl up my chest to kiss my neck a few times. Not only is he incredibly cute, much cuter than a common cat or dog, he's also extremely intelligent. He is the best part of life and I love my Bearded Dragon more than anything. He's a reptile and extremely affectionate.
It's unfortunate that in some cases, animals are chosen as class pets without proper research or consideration for their needs. However, it's heartening to see that Sancho found a loving home where he can thrive and be himself. Education and awareness about the specific requirements and care of animals are crucial to ensure they are treated well and live happy lives. Thank you for your understanding and for appreciating Sancho's improved life! 🦎❤😊
@tradde11 - Also, many people aren't prepared for the activity levels of puppies, kittens, and certain breeds of dogs. And some people get a dog, expecting to control them, when every dog is their own being with a unique personality and their own will. And some people get a cat, thinking that they don't have to do much with them and then don't like it when the cat doesn't want to be treated like a doll (e.g., picked up and petted when they don't want to by a person who didn't develop a relationship with them). Lastly, humans have bred serious (and expensive) health issues into a lot of dog breeds.
I'm so glad there are people who can connect and really bond with giant reptiles because honestly, as compassionate as I am with pets, I get the heebie jeebies with creatures like this.
It's completely understandable that not everyone feels comfortable or has a natural affinity for giant reptiles like iguanas. People have different preferences when it comes to pets, and that's perfectly fine. The most important thing is that those who choose to care for animals like iguanas provide them with the proper care, love, and attention they need to thrive. Bonds between humans and their pets can take many forms, and it's heartwarming to see people develop such connections with animals of all kinds.
Maybe learning more about them and eventually having interactions with them will change that. Many of us have hang-ups that are very irrational (including against members of our own species that we perceive as being "others").

He’s just amazing and such a beautiful boi! ❤
Sancho looks happy, full of life and healthy!! God bless you for taking him in and providing Sancho with all your love & care. He was in terrible shape when you got him from that family.
People do not take the time to research how to care for different species of animals. They just take them and then they don't know what to do.
Thankfully Sancho is living his best life.
He is very handsome!! 😍😍

He is Absolutely Adorable. ❤❤❤❤
Geez, he's huge!
Thanks for sharing Sancho with us! How sweet. One of ours just laid 50 eggs this week.
My wife and I rented bicycles while on vacation in Florida on Sanibel Island and ran across a couple iguanas on the bike paths. They scared the absolute crap out of her, it was hilarious.
That, ma'am, is a miniature dinosaur you got there
What a handsome gent! And what a super life! Wow!
Class pet is a bit outside this iguana’s job description/ I’m glad he’s living safely and happily with his family!!!
this guana pays bills😅😅😅😅😅
dude for real!! probably spent more on him than my own kids lol
This family is so warm and kind, that they managed to domesticate a completely wild animal. The iguana appears to be very happy!
I am very jealous! He’s the cutest thing since sliced bread.
He's enormous. Literally the biggest iguana I've ever seen.
12.8 pounds of pure cuteness 🧡🥹
