I just started working at a boutique bakery as a cake Froster/decorator after 30+ yrs of working in HR/Office Management to include military service. Although I had zero bakery experience, the owner took a chance and hired me. So far, so good; I’m still learning and it does get quite busy but it’s peaceful work for the most part. The pay is low but I’m semi-retired and my husband works so it’s not really an issue. I’m allowed to set my own hours and the schedule is flexible. In all my working life I’ve never had this kind of flexibility and peace…very grateful for the opportunity! 🙏🏾😊

I could only imagine this as my job! No crazy, distracting music, just calmly, quietly doing my job and being able to immediately see and admire the fruits of my labor. I found it amazing that I actually learned a lot just by watching! I did learn that when I am beginning to frost my cake I need to load it up with WAY more frosting than I have been. I just made an Italian Cream Cake this last weekend for my sister's birthday. Wish I had seen this before...it would have been a bit easier! I really loved this and I realize that you were just doing your job, but thank you SO much for sharing with us! You are sure a talented person!

Decorating becomes very easy when you have your cakes all sliced up ,layers all filled with cream, buttercream all whipped up , piping bags with the right tips, and things that you want decorated with are all ready and set to go.

I can assure you it's not. There are hazards you don't see, buttercream icing can melt in warm hands, you can get crumb in your icing, air bubbles, like most things the definition of an expert is someone who makes the difficult look easy. Believe me as a pastry chef, just piping is a learned skill, to get each shape perfect without the tail on the end which shows you didn't stop when you lifted the piping bag. It's hours of mastery in that cake.
It’s shocking how incredibly relaxing this video is!!! I would have never thought an hour of cake decorating could be so calming. This lady is incredibly skilled and all of the cakes looked amazing. Above all though-that’s the smoothest buttercreme frosting I’ve ever seen! 🎂

This was so satisfying. The not sped up version. I was like, there's no way I am sitting here and watching an hour long video of someone decorating cakes - but what you know, here I am, almost to the end, having watched the whole thing and didn't skip a single second. LMAO. AND I WOULD WATCH ANOTHER ONE! I like that it's not to some cheesy music, it's just the sounds of the bakery, the clacking of the utensils and everything. Post another and don't change anything (except the cake designs obviously!)
I guess I'll adapt the no sound/music background, many people seem to like it. Very natural

I am a cake decorator in a grocery store in Canada. I love my job! If you are a creative person or even if you are not, it is a job that can be very satisfying. In a store however we must go by the standards of the store and we do not have Carte Blanche. It would be nice to be able to create our own ideas. I love watching these videos as it is peaceful, no music, no talking, just decorating. It would also be nice to be able to be in a back room decorating and not have to also take care of customers at the same time. It can get so busy at times that it takes away from the enjoyable experience of decorating. If I could just decorate and not have outside interruptions, well my work life would be perfect. :)

I also work as a cake decorator in a Canadian grocery store and we aren’t open from 10pm-7am. I asked to have my shifts during this period to decorate. I have the whole kitchen to myself and can get a tonne done with no interruptions or distractions. I love it!

I can’t imagine being able to decorate cakes and not having to deal with customers, phone ringing, bosses coming in and telling you to hurry up, or take extra orders when you’re swamped already! That would truly be heaven! ❤️❤️❤️

"Mise en place" and tons of skills. Ingredients for the perfect workflow. Notice how she starts with white decoration and ends in all colorful. This prevents the white cakes getting "dirty". Very fun to watch!

Thats amazing! I am extremely impressed. I don't work at a bakery, but i do decorate cakes and what this decorator accomplished in nothing short of miraculous. Fantastic job! I was also impressed with how clean her work area was. This lady has skill. ❤❤
Loved this video!! Thanks for not editing, allowing us to see the REAL process. As others have said, it was surprisingly relaxing to watch and I did learn some tips. I had been debating on whether I really needed the large blade scraper and now I see how helpful it would be.
I had no idea I needed this video in my life. So soothing. I loved the click-clack of instruments and humming of the fringe amidst complete silence. And watching the cakes being so skillfully transformed was a true pleasure.

Great video, I am the cake baker in the family, picked up a few tips and tricks, and also ordered a that nifty icing comb. Loved all the cakes you decorated, made it look so easy. I have been getting much better at icing a very smooth cake, the cake turner, of course, made that a cinch. Keeping the cake on cake board in place threw me off, never thought of anchoring with masking tape, inexpensive and effective! Thanks!

Seems this cake designer actually knows how to show a cake. So many times, I have seen cakes and considered it was either unfit to bring to a party or to give as a gift. A good design on a cake is a beautiful thing to see. Somewhere between not looking so good no one wants to eat into it and still good enough that it makes the party go, a nice cake!

I've learned through watching you that: 1) I'm not using enough frosting to properly crumb coat; 2) I'm not prepping my colored frostings in advance (to decorate) and 3) my frosting isn't thick enough. So the edges were left intentionally...customer request? I’ve just never seen it done but it is different and still beautiful. What I need to know is how did you get out of having to crumb coat and not get crumbs in the icing?? Were the cakes frozen or did you wipe of any crumbs by hand?? Please do tell...I would love to skip that step! Beautiful work!

Pls how do u make ur butter cream to be so white like dat..I know this is butter icing...ND anytime I make it. It won't be white..so I prefer using fondant whenever I want it white

this is literally the best recipe video ive ever seen, so neatly executed, no unnecessary chatter, just the strangely soothing sounds of ingredients being blended, added or the simple sounds of the vessels being used it was totally informative but strangely calming to watch i wish wed get to see more such beautifully, tidily executed cooking related videos im very very impressed
The first and the last were my absolute favourites, I'm most fond of buttercream flowers & leaves on fancy cakes, and gold & silver or pearl candy beads. I hope it's a really nice tasting vanilla buttercream, not just icing sugar & crisco.

Despite of so many videos on TH-cam, urs video is by far the best with phone ringing, spatula sound, opening of box falling of sprinklers everything was so nice. And the best part is UNEDITED. Very beautifully done and in a timely manner. You could save yourself a lot of trouble if you would buy a roll of that shelf liner at the dollar tree and cut you a square to go under your cake round instead of using your masking tape. This works well for me.
