It doesn't seem like they need the hole for any of the decoration or anything, you can still layer and make the same cake, just without a hole in the middle. Interesting nonetheless.
My mum baked her "chiffon" cakes in these pans. She told me the cakes were very light and needed to cling to the extra sides to rise better. Without the hole in the middle they would be heavier and denser.

@@haqisipro4076 are you kidding? This is some serious prep that needs to be done. It'll take a couple hrs just to chill the cake before working on it. Besides, souffle cakes are really sensitive to temperature. The shrinkage is real.

I think it may be to bake the cakes faster since they have to bake a lot of cakes. Not only does it bake faster, but they also use fewer ingredients.
