This is perfect timing. My annual sweet pea seeds mixture from Higgledy Garden arrived this morning. My 32 cell root trainers will be arriving tomorrow . I’m embarrassed not to have thought of the plastic but I believe that they are reusable and as I’m not an inveterate seed grower I don’t have much by way of pots . Higgledy by the way uses a large Really Useful storage box as an impromptu “cold frame” and that’s my plan ( I had a big box anyway). It will be my first time ever sewing them. We are having such a warm October that it’s my suspicion that we can now still be sewing a bit later than previous generations would have. I do also have a recollection of having read that someone used to sew sweet pea seeds as late as Armistice Day.

they are totally reusable and you should get quite a few years out of them so don't feel bad. The storage box sounds like a great idea - I think I will try that because I'm always running out of space!

Love all the ones you sewed. Just my colours. My sweet peas are just starting to flower. A bit late this year. We have had an unusually wet winter and spring so they are a late.

How lovely to have sweet peas at this time of year - a perfumed festive table!

That's good to know - and I didn't soak mine this year either and had very good germination too!

Once the plants have grown to about 6” in height, it helps to pinch the growing tips by 1”, which will help the plants branch out and produce more flowering stems.
