Great video. Can you comment on how the vehicle handles being a heavy vehicle with Front Wheel Drive? Specifically uphill or on loose unfinished roads?
I don’t have experience with an RV below freezing. Can the furnace be left on for the day while skiing instead of winterizing? Maybe a little antifreeze in the grey tank for the exposed line?
This could potentially work in very mild climates. I don’t think it would work for skiing though. The van isn’t super well insulated and I bet on a cold day you could freeze the lines even though the interior of the van is 60F+. Additionally you would have to store the van in a heated garage whenever it wasn’t being used. I winterized for all winter use and used external jugs of water for fresh and grey water.
I'm looking for a basic van and have narrowed my choices to the Tofino and the Winnebago Solis Pocket or 59P. If you were to do it over again, would you buy the Tofino or something else such as either of the Solis models? Thanks!
Depends on a couple things: -Your climate. The tofino poptop doesn't do well in the winter and no A/C can be a dealbreaker if you are down south. -# of people, the tofino can sleep two kids up top which is very nice -boondocking vs RV camping. The tofino has a way better battery/solar/inverter system which lets you go off grid for much longer -Quality of the tofino is much better overall but you get less. My personal ultimate van would be a full height tofino van with no poptop. Since that doesn't exist I would go Solis if the price was the same to get full height in the van. Good deals can be had on a tofino if you buy one right now as they may discontinue it. If you do go for the tofino, let me know we can both get $250 with pleasureways reward program.
@@Mark-gq5vl thank you for the detailed response. Funny you said that, my dream would be the Tofino interior on the Rekon chassis. I'll be traveling all over the US experiencing heat and cold. An A/C and more battery would be nice, but don't want to spend $150k+ (US $) and the Winnebago quality worries me. Again, thanks.
@@ralphkeith2905 take a look at the WINNEBAGO + ADVENTURE WAGON I suspect it will be 120-140 USD all said and done from a reasonable dealer. The sprinter chassis is super nice but, be prepared to swallow $800-2000 for their basic services (A&B) (The ram is $80-200USD).
Thanks for the very helpful review including positive and negative with the Tofino. Much appreciates!

What kind of gas mileage are you getting? Nice ride!
