  • Do you feel like your abstract acrylic paintings look flat and lifeless? Create interest in your abstract painting with quick texture. In this video, I will show you how to use dried acrylic paint peeled off your palette to add instant texture to your abstract acrylic paintings.
    ➡️ For Sale on Etsy - www.etsy.com/listing/16842481...
    For this abstract painting demo, I used a variety of colors such as Prussian blue, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, light blue permanent, alizarin crimson, permanent magenta, cadmium orange, titanium white, and Payne's gray acrylic paint. I also used an acrylic gel medium, a palette knife, a filbert brush, a $1 brush from the hardware store, and my hands.
    Not only is this technique quick and easy, but it also allows you to use leftover paint that would normally go to waste. Simply peel the dried acrylic paint off your palette, and then apply it to your paper with a palette knife or brush.
    What's great about this technique is that it's not limited to just paper. You can use this technique on other surfaces like canvas and wood panels as well, allowing you to add texture to any abstract acrylic painting you create.
    With just a few simple steps, you can transform your paintings from ordinary to extraordinary. So, if you're ready to add some quick texture to your abstract acrylic paintings, be sure to watch this video and try this technique for yourself. You won't be disappointed!
    If you want to take your abstract acrylic paintings to the next level, try using dried acrylic paint peeled off your palette to add quick texture. With this simple yet effective technique, you can create unique and dynamic works of art that are sure to impress. Give this technique a try!

      Thanks so much, Jen! I just finished taking a workshop on matting and framing yesterday and plan on doing just that with this one.😊

    Like you, for texture I rely on gesso. I also scrunch up tissue paper & paint/gesso over it. I just recently tried drywall tape for texture, too, and love it! I also love your channel! It’s my “go to” place for great explanations, practical info, ideas, & inspiration. Keep up the wonderful work!

      Thanks so much, JH! Love your texture ideas and will give them a try. I save some of my paper towels that I use when I paint. My plan is to add some to a canvas when I add my initial layers of gesso to add texture and color. We'll see how that goes.😊

    Great idea! I am also collecting peeled paint, just because some pieces are beautiful from colour or structure, or both. Now I know what to do with the structure thingies. I like structure and use quite often tin foil, choclate paper or the like. Once i bought tiny, tiny glas beads (some sort of filling material) which I like to sprinkle into wet paint. Nice effect is that they shimmer like the paint below them, depending on incident of light.

    Lovely to watch the creation.👍 One of the things i still find difficult is creating a focal point when i try this kind of picture. And, i have to say, i use a standard kitchen plate as a palette and it's fascinating to see what comes off occasionally. 😂

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Emmanuel! Yeah, focal points can be kind of tricky. I typically look for areas of contrast to see if I can work with those. Haha, I've never tried a plate. Does the paint peel off?

    • @emmanuelpower2439
      @emmanuelpower2439 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Chris Loud Art thanks for the advice Chris... areas of contrast... and yes, ceramic seems good for peeling off paint. Unlikely to be as good as non stick palettes, but it works for me.

    So far modeling paste and gel medium for texture. I have some paint skins and I'm looking forward to trying some multimedia projects. My pallet is the glass from an old photo frame with electrical tape around the sided

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Becky! I know several artists that use glass with tape around the edges and swear by it. Do you have anything attached underneath (e.g. cardboard) or just the glass?

    • @beckybequette8212
      @beckybequette8212 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Chris Loud Art Just the glass right now. But I work on a white folding table, so it doesn't affect mixing colors

    • @jenfleming9412
      @jenfleming9412 ปีที่แล้ว

      My palette is similar. A heavy glass rectangle cheeseboard or cutting board I found in a op shop. Works a treat.

    • @chrisloudart
