What's your favorite song composed by Yuka? And which of the other composers would you like to hear more of? Personally I am a huge fan of Tsukasa Saitoh.
@@dasboot1362 Midir's OST is awesome. It's so fitting. And Godrick...before the game officially released and that song was leaked...oh boy. You didn't know what the fight was about but the music gave you an idea and it was spot on. Shoi has incredible talent.
@Dio-xo9rv Yet she's gonna be more remembered than most of us will ever aspire. Maybe she's not relevant for you, but she was for a lot of us :). This is your opinion and is still valid, but I won't take your commentary seriously until I see you doing something as remotely impactful and memorable. And even so (life advice), never and I mean never be toxic and offensive towards other people's work. Take care.
@Dio-xo9rv ''she didn't compose a single one of the most memorable, famous tracks'' Regal Ancestor Spirit, Malenia, Leyndell, Lady Maria, Abyss Watchers, Pontiff Sulyvahn, Sir Alonne, Yorm the Giant, Gael, Midir, Genichiro, Corrupted Monk, Lady Butterfly, etc were all composed by her and have millions of views on TH-cam. Are you absolutely on crack?
Agreed. But if it did last forever, we wouldn't be able to appreciate it as much. At least that's what I believe. Regardless, I'm hopeful she'll make a guest appearance in a future game. It would be pretty cool.
@Dio-xo9rv how do you figure? Some of the best game soundtracks over the last decade had very little input from her. Bloodborne and Elden Ring being two examples of that.
That main menu music in ds3 is one of the best pieces I’ve ever heard and not only did she compose it she played the violin and is the main singing voice, I hope she returns for a few tracks in their future games
@Dio-xo9rv she literally made the best ones Slave knight gael is hers Soul of cinder is hers Abyss watchers is hers The one of lotric and lorian is hers Midir is hers Sister Friede is hers Regal ancestor spirit is hers Sir alonne is hers The ost of leyndell is hers And I only said the onse I love with all my heart there are others that are also incredibly good. Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, and Sekiro have some of the best game OST ever and it's so sad to know she left Fromsoftware. Hopefully they maintain relationship and she can compose for Fromsoft's upcoming projects. Wish her well!
Bro, Yuka made me appreciate even more classical music! She have such powerful, relaxing and charming voice, she is the goddess of FromSoft! True final boss of deep, dark, powerful and mystery tunes, haha! I love Yuka!
This video was a blessing, Fromsoftware's composers never gets the credit they deserve, while their working for a huge part of the souls experience. It's really sad thinking that Yuka won't work anymore with From but i'm sure her status of freelancer won't stop them from collaborating together and we could even expect an evolution in her future works in the gaming industry. (Slave Knight Gael it's just simply insanely perfect, and as her masterpiece, she was also the beautiful female singer!)
my favorite track from ds is Majula. And just as I was typing that it popped up in the video. It is such a beautiful piece that I feel could fit a much richer and diverse fantasy environment. It certainly makes that beginning of the game feel inspiring.
It's sad to hear she's leaving, but only for FromSoftware's sake lol. Good thing they still got loads of talent to spare in the music department. Also, shoutout to Yoshimi Kudo for writing some incredible stuff for Elden Ring. The Fortissax OST is straight fire.
As a composer myself, Yuka has been my biggest influence and a huge inspiration - all of the musicians at Fromsoft have, but I just love her harmony and orchestration. I’d love to see some of more these videos on the other composers at Fromsoft, especially since it seems FS have hired new talent - each deserving of their own recognition!
I will never forget my first time playing elden ring exploring the lake and Agheel charging down on me from the sky with yuka Kitamuras "Dragon" composition Never had such goosebumps in my life
I just listened to every single music by Yuka at Fromsoft and wow what a journey. I think Yuka will return at least once for sure and my favorite ost by her has got to be Slave Knight Gael or Lady Butterfly.
I was quite sad when they announced her departure. I hope she continues her amazing work in other projects. Sir Alonne, DS3 main theme, Abyss Watchers, Pontiff, Yhorm, Twin Princes, Soul of Cinder, Midir, Gael, Divine Dragon, Rennala, Malenia, Ancestor Spirit These are all absolute bangers. I really hope she worked on Shadow of the Erdtree too.
I'm ngl, my heart stopped when I read the thumbnail because I thought you meant lose as in... yeah. I'm glad I was wrong, and I wish her well on whatever she decides to do next
Man, Yuka is really one of my all time greats when its comes to composing. I love her quite sad, mysterious, almost melancholic but also heroic feeling she makes for bosses like the Ancestors spirit, Divine Dragon, owl father, Malenia and the fire giant to name a few. What i really hope for is that she would compose some songs for a Monster hunter title in the future. MH is more lighthearted than FS games but the premise of fighting big monsters/ deitys is more or less the same in my eyes.
Tapi susahnya keluar dari perusahaan itu music/game, kadang gak bisa kolaborasi sama studio-studio rekaman musik yang sebelumnya. Perusahaan pasti punya koneksi soalnya. Kayak yuki kajiura, aku rasa instrument setelah dia jadi freelance beda, kayak terlalu mentah kadang. Sound stage nya kayak kurang kerasa.
I miss Motoi's very understated and spatial songs, and in general the music of demons souls and dark souls reminded me more of anime battles than epic orchestral game music. Taurus Demon from the Dark Souls OST really mirrors the terror and tension you feel as opposed to expressing the drama or narrative context. I miss that particular approach.
Hands down her best song is Malenia,Blade of Miquella.Mostly cuz she uses that violin in some way to create both tension and maybe a bit of sadness into the song. Then in phase 2 its all out chaos and pure awe.
I was just disappointed with that song. Disappointed with that boss. I was like "great this is gonna be this games lady maria or sister frieda" and lady maria is my favorite video game boss fight ever. With an amazing, epic, grandscale almost cosmic kind of song. Paired with her graceful and confident aggression with her swords. Malenias song was just kind of boring. Even her 2nd phase is tame. The fight is also really slow paced compared to lady maria or sister Frieda. Just kind of a disappointment all around.
in the field of musical composition I am not even a neophyte I am a mewling crawling child that knows nothing other than what sounds good to my ears. and quite frankly Miss yucca has not composed a single piece that failed to elicit some emotion from my dark dormant heart. I'm sure they'll miss her at from software but being freelance means that she has so much more creative freedom and I can't wait to hear what she makes next.
Thanks for the video - some constructive feedback if you don't mind: For my taste you focussed a little too much on other composers and some of the real iconic tracks of her are only played for a couple of seconds and that doesn't don't do it justice. So maybe that is something to consider in the future.

Corrupted Monk

The boss fight and its OST make them one of the top gaming moments in the past decade. Such an excellent climax to a game.
My Top 3 of Yuka's songs: 1.Lady Maria of the astral clock tower
2. Twin Princes
3.Slave knight gael
While I agree these are great pieces, my absolute favorite is Ebrieta, Daughter of Cosmos. That song can't be topped, ever!
