That line “don’t you dare go hollow” carry’s a ton of implications and conveys a huge amount of world building for 5 words. Dark Souls 1 is simply a masterpiece
A line with the same weight for me is the one in Demon's Souls uttered by Stockpile Thomas, saying: "You have a heart of gold don't let them take it from you". He was truly grateful to us for finding the hairpin which belonged to his daughter. In a fucked up, where doom almost certain to all, it is good to see that a little gesture of kindness can still make a world of difference in someone else's life. The Nexus still is one of my favorite hub worlds in the whole Soulsborne genre.
I think that line speaks to alot of the reasons fromsoft titles appeal to people with depression or trans people, this unwelcoming harsh world where you lose your sense of identity without a purpose, the only thing keeping you from that fate is your tenacity
Dark souls helped me overcome opiate addiction. I was going through withdrawal while playing through it. The theme of perseverance in the face of hopelessness and suffering mirrored my actual real life situation. It was a great focus for me and it felt as though all the hurdles and tribulations I was overcoming in the game were a metaphor for my actual struggle. It will always be the game that helped me regain control of my life and helped me through the darkest part of me life. I'll be forever grateful to dark souls. 5 years clean, thank you dark souls
@@LuizOMenudo thank you friend! I actually just started my first soul level 1 run yesterday. Already beat ornstein and smough. It's going real smooth so far. Still clean as well! It went from a real struggle to a breeze both playing dark souls and being clean!
@@MFDOOOOM Definitely because of how relatable and well done each video is, so he's putting A LOT of time and energy into each video to produce quality content. People who upload less often use this technique, all a numbers game regardless of strategy. Average person won't see success as a streamer or content creator for 3 - 4 years in many cases, some longer.
To this day the character creation menu music from dark souls still tells more about your humanity within a cruel world without any lyrics and the need of sudden changes in the tempo. Truly a work from a genius.
Y'know, this game helped me too, in a bit different way. I was suicidal, even attempted once. But I bought DS3, and it basically taught to me to not give up. I felt some kind of security, idk how to express it. "Praise the Sun" makes me think that even in the darkest times, a light will be found somewhere. Idk... I might sound paranoid to some cause basically a videogame made me reconsider my entire life. It made me want to try harder and harder, until I achieve my goals. All in all, thank you FromSoftware for saving me and my life
Wow!! ...DS1... BERSERK... 90s anime ... pixel art ... funny and chill dude with good taste and understanding for art ... this pitstop is awesome!! ... guess i'll be living here now.
You manifested what you sought, and not in a lazy way. You visualized it, worked hard towards it, put a lot of thought and care into it, and YOU made it happen. I've done that in small ways in my own life, and you have done it on another level that is inspiring. I notice it. Okay, I'm gonna shut up now and actually watch this. But man, you are just so inspiring to me. Don't stop for nothing. You are plugged into something special.
The souls series is one of those types of games that feel like once you play them enough, they’re no longer too crazy difficult so you can somewhat enjoy your time playing when you go back to it. It truly can be a comfort game if you’re passionate enough. P.S. congrats on the growth. Been here since 6k. Hopefully I’ll be in the same position as you 1-3 years from now. You’re inspiring me to finally chase my dreams. Thanks for all the vids. Peace
Right? After I played Dark Souls 1 back in the days, I felt like DS 2 was about as hard as Devil May Cry. By any means, it's not easy but still not that crazy hard.
I get too excited when I see a internet pitstop video notification, it’s like the same vibe as hearing Tank! On a late Saturday night adult swim binge session back in the day 😌
"dont you dare go hollow" from the pyromancy guy gives me chills everytime, he says it so earnestly like he knows the dangers of lordran and the pitfalls of hollowing and genuinely hopes to help you through it. Alongside the firelink theme makes it a great moment. Lol typed this as you mentioned it
This channel really is something special. There's plenty of people who make videos on the same sort of topics as you do, but the fact that it's you making these videos make them special. Your videos are unique, interesting, and most of all relaxing. After a long day of stress, worries, and anxieties your videos really help me unwind. Not just like some random cute cat video that gives me a boost for two minutes, I mean like a full reset. If whatever random videos are taking a swig of estus then your videos are like resting at the bonfire, offering my humanity to reverse hollowing, then summoning a friendly spirit to keep me company until I can reach the next bonfire. You excel at delivering chill vibes. Keep it up man, me and a lot of other people really appreciate you.
Its meant to fall apart. This is how god shows us, nothing in this world truly matters. We need to strive towards god and nothing which will fade anyway away
It's so odd. This game has probably influenced my life more than any other art or media. I look back on it with a special kind of nostalgia. The kind that is necessary for growth, change, and an appreciation for things in spite of the circumstances. It was beautiful. And yet, in spite of all of this, I still can't put into words what exactly makes this game so good. It just IS good, idk. Anyway, easy sub. Your channel is going crazy bro
"I still can't put into words what exactly makes this game so good. It just IS good, idk." probably cuz it was your first. your comment applies to pretty much all the souls games.
@@flamingmanure I would argue that DS1 did it best though, and that comes as someone who started with DS3 back in 2016 and didn't play the other games until 2020 (the souls games anyway, I did play Sekiro and complete one single run of Bloodborne somewhere in 2019). DS1 is by no means perfect, hell, the latter half of the game is honestly pretty shit in places and the remaster didn't even try to address the issues. But, DS1 is also the game that tried the hardest to create its own unique identity, through its level design, its lore, its NPCs, its take on a proper challenge... DS2 certainly had atmosphere, and Majula is easily the best hub in the Souls trilogy, but overall the game lost itself in production hell, leading to a lack of understanding of what made DS1 great especially regarding the difficulty aspect of the game. DS3 was the most polished of the 3, with the best bossfights by a long shot, but the game leaned heavily on reference to DS1 and thus lacked identity through most of its life, I'd say the game really became its own only with The Ringed City DLC. What I'm trying to say is, despite the fact that I think DS3 is the best of the 3, DS1 is the special one that couldn't be replicated. With all its merits and its flaws, it's THE Dark Souls experience in its purest form,.
Next stop 100k subs!!!! Also shoutout to Bloodborne for changing my life. Fromsoft is rly something special(and so is this channel) Thanks for your work!
Bloodborne did the same thing to me where it made me fall back in love with video games. It was my first Souls game and it immediately became one of my favorite games of all time and considering the kind of channel I have now I can't imagine where I would be if I never played it.
alot of people talk about the hub area and it’s music for dark souls 1 but to me in dark souls 2 in majula when you finally get back after getting your first “soul of a great one” and the majula theme starts playing, that shit gets to me fr :’) i remember realizing “oh… so this is ONE of the great souls… i just collected ONE of them… and now im back” goddamn that shit hit me like a truck man
I can’t believe I found this guy while he’s sub 1 million. The first time I watched one of his videos I just assumed he was huge and when I went to subscribe I was like shocked that he wasn’t. I’ve only been here for a couple weeks, but you’ve already grown subscriber wise and quality wise by a huge amount. This channel is like such a nice place to go to and relax after a long day. Glad to say that this is one of my favourite TH-cam channels now.
He came along at just the right time to fill the Jakey sized hole in my life. Not to diminish him to just being Jakey, he's definitely got his own style.
I literally love this channel man the journal entry hit hard for me… I’m watching TH-cam late and got work at 3:30 am tomorrow. These vids slap thank you bro
Time to go watch this with the boys. This shit geniunely makes my day everytime I get the notification. It's like this is my own Firelink Shrine in a way
I'll never forget that elevator in the church after undead berg, I wasn't what you would call a "gamer" back then, and had spent over a month pain stakenly grinding my way through the perish, beating the Taurus demon, meeting some dude with a sun on his chest that everyone memed about, and when that platform decended, and I heard that music, and the wall gave way to a bleak skyline in the distance, it felt safe for the first time in a long time
I felt happy and excited when i saw the notification of a new video, dark souls is one of my fav games of all times, i literally went to dig out my old Xbox 360 and launched dark souls, so much memories, thank you for reminding me of the 100 hours i spent through this game, truly a great video
To be honest man. It changed mine too, dark souls 3 was the game that hooked me in and has honestly, as strange as it sounds. Has been a huge comfort in my life
I feel like we had the same experience with dark souls. I remember my best friend got the game the day it came out. I only played fps and rts games. I never liked rpgs at all so I wasn’t excited. I watched him fight the asylum demon and I immediately wanted the game. I made his brother take us to GameStop and buy it for me because I wasn’t 17 yet. I went back to my house and got my 360. Brought it and a tv to Nathan’s house and we experienced it together for the first time blind. I didn’t know anything. I tried for 3 hours to beat the catacombs while he was stuck in blighttown because he picked the master key. Finally we realized undeadburg was an option. I made it under the dragon and was so excited to see that bonfire. Then the shortcut. I was hooked on this series and an entirely new genre of video games. I couldn’t believe level design like that existed. I almost started crying with how much this game was impacting me from a fun factor. I was nothing but a call of duty zombies storyline fan at the time so this lore in the items was amazing. I remember I found one of those crystal enemy things that spawn from other players losing an item or something and there wasn’t even information about this on the wiki. I couldn’t find that enemy for weeks or why it happened. This video was the best dark souls video I’ve ever watched. I can’t wait to see what other content you make. Cheers.
as a very emotional person myself, this video hit me like a truck, i havent ever played dark souls 1, and im only halfway through reading berserk, i watched some of your other videos, namely the pokemon regions one and the 90s anime one but the sheer importance this video must hold to you floors me to even imagine, i hope your dreams keep being fulfilled in your life good sir :)))
Hey man, just want to tell you that I am absolutely amazed by your chill, "drip" (never knew that phrase), and your mindset. Please keep your humbleness friend! And stay as self aware as you are. And this last sentence - "dont you dare go hollow" - I cried when I heard it. I needed to hear that so much in that moment. So thank you. And, friend, don't you dare to go hollow.
You just perfectly described how i have been feeling for the past several months but have never been able to describe. “Knowing you want more out of life but not taking steps to move forward” felt like it exposed the contents of my soul. Even recognition and definition of this feeling is so powerful and I really appreciate the passion you put into these videos.
It's beyond cool to see the channel's growth. In a weird way, your content validates me, y'know? We've got the same interests and tastes, humor, we're a similar age, same outlook on work LMAO, and you're fly as fuck. Nothing but the best wishes for you man, take it easy.
Congrats on 70k dude, it's well earned with the quality you consistently put out. I discovered dark souls years ago, but never actually bothered with it because every lazy game journalist called other games "the dark souls of etc" or made comparisons. When it was announced for switch I finally took the plunge and tried it and man did I ever love it. Getting lost everywhere, getting my butt kicked at Ornstein and Smough, being stubborn with my build that still today resides as 2 handed weapon with no shield. After I finished the game I got the Guts bloodlust and decided to buy DS2,3, bloodborne and PS3 demon souls and finish them all. The world building and themes alone are worth your time, but the freedom the game gives you with builds and paths make this one of the best designed series out there.
The fact that 2 months later this man’s channel had actually doubled in size is totally deserved. All of his videos seem so genuine in a way I personally connect with. I love content where people just talk about things that they’re passionate about. This is definitely a para-social sentiment but it feels like one of my friends is lecturing me about something they love; in a good way.
I’ve never played Dark Souls but as someone who’s sitting in a Target parking lot waiting to go in for day 5 and already loathing the experience I appreciate the sentiment behind this video.
Man I’m back here again. Unemployed (since March) this time. Still haven’t played Dark Souls and likely never will (damn motion sickness) but damn this video ages well.
All my life, all ive ever known was failure and quitting. I never strived to overcome adversity. In other words, i was Hollow. This game saved me, inspired me, and pushed me to be better. Thank you, FromSoftware.
Editing to add that Laurentius telling me that the pyromancy flame he gave me is like a part of him, and asking me to take care of it still makes me ugly cry like you wouldnt believe. I played Fromsoft games since King's Field way back when, and I still deeply love the series. I'm not some lore wiz, but I have a real love for the world they create and the characters in it, despite how brief you get to stay with them. It's funny because I consider Bloodborne my comfort game that I go to when life sucks, and if you say that to a normal person they are super concerned. 😂
@@albertozalon8477 Ah indeed, Ds2 does had that feeling too. It's like you're traveling alone to somewhere completely unknown to you. Dangers looming every corner yet it feels strangely calm. And somehow, Ds3 and onward didn't give me that feeling at all, even Elden Ring failed to give me that.

This guy , like Jacob Geller, understands art. This guy understands poetry. This guy understands the feeling of losing yourself to the awesomeness of an awesome piece of music, an awesome section of a game, an awesome painting, an awesome monologue , an awesome dance set... This guy is alright.
Even though it wasnt my first from soft game and not even my favourite one of the series, i have to admit dark souls 1 just hits different compared to every other game. There´s just something that feels so special about it, both in terms of gameplay and atmosphere that words alone truly cannot make it justice. I can totally see why this masterpiece is said to be one of the most influential and important games ever. Great video as always!! Keep it up cause this channel defenitely has a bright future
Algorithm came through yesterday and I binged all your content so happy to see a new video today keep being the perfect time capsule of all my fringe interests Much love brother
A year late, but I'm new here and I love it. Thank you. I recently told a friend who introduced me to dark souls, "don't you go hollow" and it brought an overwhelming level of emotion. Appreciate you guys.
Vaati makes some incredibly high quality videos and I love them to death. But at this point, I would absolutely recommend looking into The Brother's Code. They make what are essentially feature film length videos on the lore of Fromsoft games. The Dark Souls 1 video is right over 2 hours long but it gives everything that happens in the story and different outcomes that occur and presents it all in an incredibly easily digestible way. Great video btw man! Found you from the Pokemon region design video and am loving the stuff you're making!
The "don't you dare go hollow" always hits in this world where everything is constantly hitting you and trying to make you feel small and give up. I think we're all a little bit hollow, and just can't let it consume us.
As I'm writing this I'm also playing Dark Souls and reading Berserk, even playing the game on the switch too. Similarly it's come at a time in my life that I don't really know what I want to do. The past several years have been hard and before I played the first game I played the others and the world was often a comfort setting to learn about lore and play ocassionally since I tended to be pretty bad at it. One also gives me that odd feeling of comfort sitting at bonfires and relaxing, it's funny how a game meant to be frustrating and hard has provided comfort for so many people and like Berserk as of recently has inspired me to do better.
I remember when I played Dark Souls 1 the very first time back in 2012.. It was the exact same ''ahaa'' moment once I used that Elevator-shortcut back to Firelink Shrine. Ever since, I fell in love with the Game. And I also Agree, that the bridge, that connects Undead Parish with Sens Fortress is so soothing, especially seeing big Onion sitting there. I wish so bad I could erase my memories of this game just to replay it again for the first time.
I became addicted to your videos man. I often see them at night to relax myself, I love the vibe and passion you show here and I hope you go far with this
I swear I once I watched the [AS] video I knew I found the perfect channel. The way a random guy on the internet describes the media I enjoy with the same passion I have for it is just amazing and will forever have me glued to his channel. I'd just love to congratulate you on your growth and encourage you to keep up whatever you're doing is amazing and helps a lot with shit. NGL this channel does feel like it is my Firelink Shrine
Hey man, its cool you were able to find some sort of happiness from a game, alot of shit in life can be depressing. It's a beautiful thing when you can truly escape reality even if its just for a moment.

i spent 7 years fight kidney disease and dark souls was a home for my pain a place to rest and fight something that i could bet. Now i have a kidney transplant and now its still a home when i don't know what to do next with my life I love your work Keep it up king but remember to rest by the fire and vibe sometimes you've got a long journey ahead. man is literally the goat. watched you absolutely explode in subs recently. completely deserved with the quality of content and the humor being top notch. keep it up. and dont do anything stupid to get you canceled my friend, i want you to be able to stick around for a long time
I just came back to tell you - this video is important. Every single piece of hope and serenity that can be brought to people is priceless in this broken world. Thanks for creating your content, one of my fav channels right now. Don't you dare go hollow.
I only just played DS1 last month and it was absolutely game changing. At first it was a nice game that reminded me of old school monster hunter, but it slowly immersed me in a way no other game ever has. Every portion of the corrupt and falling world is beautiful, and the world design, lore and music is amazing. Every bonfire felt like a huge victory, in a way that most video game milestones just don't. I have since played DS2, 3, BB, and am now doing the DS3 DLC, but nothing compares to that experience that DS1 provided. I have never watched a video of your's until today, but it seems from the comments that you have suddenly exploded in popularity. You seem to have stayed humble, and I hope you continue to do so. It definitely made the video feel significantly more enjoyable knowing how proud you are of achieving 70K. Massive congrats, keep it up
That’s Great to hear you played the rest of the series! And really! This is your first vid! Dude that’s so cool hope you enjoy the other stuff I come to make and enjoy your stay at this little corner of the internet❤️
Your videos always resonate with me. They hit me hard… and I’m better off for it. Thank you for creating the type of content that you create. I actually came across one of your videos very recently (maybe only 2 weeks ago I think?), and I’m so damn glad I did because I can easily say you’ve been my personal favorite Mr. TH-cam Boy since then. And congratulations on the rapid channel growth you’ve been having! Seriously, you’ve earned it and very much deserve it! Can’t wait to see your channel continue to grow and all the awesome videos that come along with it! Keep it up and never stop doing this thing you love!
I remember this video coming out and not watching it because I had been meaning to play this game for a while, waited for it to go on sale on steam (it took so long), came back to this video now after just beating the game, and damn so goddamn true bestie
dude your content deserves all this love! not only is it super creative, it is super inspiring, and makes me wanna pursue my artistic goals. the content is legit just that good, like i’ve watched all your videos (a couple of repeat watches too) within the last week, they’re genuinely just so easy to watch especially at night to relax to. keep up the great work!
I recently found this absolute gem of a channel. I've made videos since I was 15, now I am in university and after 3years of doing nothing with my channel, you kind of rekindled my flame of ambition (souls reference right). The format you use I always found very interesting when I first saw NakeyJakey do it. I've got these green curtains in my room, so you probably get the gig. I want to make videos like you and hell I already have a green screen! Thanks for being my support, during my lonely times between lectures in these hellhole called university. Keep up the incredible videos man
hey man I know that uni can be shit and you sometimes feel like shit but yeah get on that channel as soon as you can and just start creating stuff you like and you want to make. I wish the best for you bro
So your video just popped up in my recommendations (sometimes YT gets things right, haha) & seeing Dark Souls = me watching! Firstly, congratulations on your 70k subs! I subbed too 🙂 Yes, Dark Souls is a very special experience...I didn't get into video games (as a book-lover) until my child had flown the coop, & by the time I was introduced to FromSoft games, I was in my mid-40's. My first was Bloodborne, which hooked me in completely and I adore this masterpiece, & I've played them all except Demon's Souls as never had the opportunity (yet.) However, it was when I played Dark Souls Remastered in 2018 that I felt a HUGE connection to this gorgeous game world, the story, the characters and that inherent 'warmth' of the game deeply resonated with me & when I beat Gwyn and linked the Flame (as most do on their first playthrough) I sobbed like a baby, completely overwhelmed by ALL those deep emotions & felt ALL the feels 😢 I played Dark Souls blind, offline, & I fully immersed myself into the world, pondering all the tidbits of Lore I read through item-descriptions, NPC dialogue, environmental storytelling. I discovered the Great Hollow and Ash Lake by myself, as I could hear the sound of the echo-y huge space behind the illusory walls. I managed to complete most of the NPC questlines, & spent weeks just exploring every inch of the world & taking it all in. I didn't want Dark Souls to end & it truly did absorb itself into my soul, as silly as that sounds. For me, Dark Souls is like a warm hug from an old friend. The game is so comforting, & gives us hope. I love Dark Souls & it helped me through some very difficult times, so now, on my 6th playthrough, I'm attempting my first SL1 run!!! It's daunting to me, I never expected to make it very far, but here I am, sitting at the Bonfire with my dear sweetie, Solaire, and about to face O&S...eeeeekkkkk! - wish me luck XD As for other recommendations, I love Max Derrat's channel, where he talks in depth about Alchemy, ancient religions, philosophy etc in FromSoft games, Zullie for secrets and technical stuffs, & TheTarnishedArchaeologist for Elden Ring Lore from an Archaeologist's perspective, which is really really interesting! PS - I'm also currently reading Berserk for the first time because of the influence this incredible manga had on Miyazaki-San & FromSoft.
honestly man, your channel is great. with those golden green screen edits you already beat 99% of those other video essays channels. also the existential dread is something that a lot of people relate to, me included. i don't know how exactly but your videos really encapsulate the lo-fi, rainy day, doomer vibe. glad you made a video on one of my favorite games ever. i remember a time where everyone on the dark souls subreddit were saying it cured their depression and gave them a means to continue in life and that's really because dark souls at its core teaches you that no matter how much you fail, you can always come back with more knowledge and beat the shit out of that challenge. you just have to keep trying and not go hollow. also i saw a post that said the only way to truly go hollow in the game is to stop playing when facing adversity, which i found very powerful.
I definitely remember the nights in college where i couldn’t sleep so i just got it up and played dark souls instead. This game definitely changed my mentality towards approaching problems in my life and gave me an experience ive never really seen replicated. This is a game i come back to all the time, it’s infinitely replay-able. You can just run a new build, try speedrunning, limit your resources for an added challenge. It’s all there and there’s always ways to improve and learn more
I haven't known you for long, and I don't know you personally, so I'm not sure how to really express this. But, I just want you to know that I think you're a really cool guy who I have a lot of respect for, and you're worth every minute. Thanks for deciding to do this whole TH-cam thing; I'm here to stay.
So I’m not sure if this’ll get any attention but after seeing this it reminded me of my first time beating my first souls game, dark souls 3. I know people have their issues with it but to me it was everything I could have ever wanted, needed, and more. It taught me that I could move on and be strong alongside making me genuinely care for the people I met and the decisions I made. Genuinely the most influential game for me since the halo series because it saved me. Thank god souls saved you too, can’t wait to see what else you do and see you accomplish wonders because you are truly talented and a warm presence that I can’t wait to come back to whenever I need it. Stay safe friend, don’t you dare go hollow :)
I just did an "only pre-lit bonfire" run and the feeling of having to plan out my spells and miracles before venturing forward (and that I would only be able to level upon my return) created much more of a survival atmosphere that I really loved. It also made Firelink Shrine (in particular) that much more special and comforting.
Just chilling in my favorite bonfire, this channel, at the end of my day. Feeling a little bit alone. Living on my own in Ireland, far from my family and thinking about my coming birthday, when I will become 24 and that means that I have no scape to being an grown up adult and the idea of that scared me the fuck out ❤️ Love u IP

That line “don’t you dare go hollow” carry’s a ton of implications and conveys a huge amount of world building for 5 words. Dark Souls 1 is simply a masterpiece
the connections this game can make you feel with such simple sentences is astounding
A line with the same weight for me is the one in Demon's Souls uttered by Stockpile Thomas, saying: "You have a heart of gold don't let them take it from you". Wow!! ...DS1...
Much love dude this was beautiful
I AM LITERALLY OBSESSED WITH THIS RANDOM ASS BRIDGE - A true souls fan
The souls series is one of those types of games that feel like once you play them enough, they’re no longer too crazy difficult so you can somewhat enjoy your time playing when you go back to it. It truly can be a comfort game if you’re passionate enough.
P.S. congrats on the growth. Been here since 6k. Hopefully I’ll be in the same position as you 1-3 years from now. You’re inspiring me to finally chase my dreams. Thanks for all the vids. Peace
Chase them dreams bro! And yes dark souls is literally my comfort game lol
Right? After I played Dark Souls 1 back in the days, I felt like DS 2 was about as hard as Devil May Cry. By any means, it's not easy but still not that crazy hard.
They never quite captured the atmosphere of Dark Souls 1 again - not even Elden Ring. It was very creepy and unsettling at times. Great game.
I get too excited when I see a internet pitstop video notification, it’s like the same vibe as hearing Tank! On a late Saturday night adult swim binge session back in the day 😌
that is a honor to be compared to that opening bro thank you so much!
"dont you dare go hollow" from the pyromancy guy gives me chills everytime, he says it so earnestly like he knows the dangers of lordran and the pitfalls of hollowing and genuinely hopes to help you through it. Alongside the firelink theme makes it a great moment.
Lol typed this as you mentioned it
I think he's taking to you. Don't give up.
any time I hear “don’t you dare go hollow” it gives me chills
Thank you for this comment man really great to read, gave my spirits a boost yanno lol happy to be delivering chill vibes!
My life is falling apart right now...but for half an hour...I am at peace and at home. Thank you.
Never give up
Home things are better now
Its meant to fall apart.
Yo! Tye! Seen your vids! Really cool to see ya here my guy!
Fromsoft really makes some life changing games man
alot of people talk about the hub area and it’s music for dark souls 1 but to me in dark souls 2 in majula when you finally get back after getting your first “soul of a great one” and the majula theme starts playing, that shit gets to me fr :’) i remember realizing “oh… so this is ONE of the great souls… i just collected ONE of them… and now im back” goddamn that shit hit me like a truck man
it’s worth mentioning dark souls 2 is my first souls game so… there’s that 🤷🏻♂️
I can’t believe I found this guy while he’s sub 1 million.
Yo thank you for the comment bro! Appreciate your support.
Yeah lol, his content has always had that awesome quality
He came along at just the right time to fill the Jakey sized hole in my life.
Not to diminish him to just being Jakey, he's definitely got his own style.
I literally love this channel man the journal entry hit hard for me… I’m watching TH-cam late and got work at 3:30 am tomorrow. These vids slap thank you bro
Time to go watch this with the boys. This shit geniunely makes my day everytime I get the notification. It's like this is my own Firelink Shrine in a way
That’s such a sweet comment bro definitely comment hall of fame
I'll never forget that elevator in the church after undead berg, I wasn't what you would call a "gamer" back then, and had spent over a month pain stakenly grinding my way through the perish, beating the Taurus demon, meeting some dude with a sun on his chest that everyone memed about, and when that platform decended, and I heard that music, and the wall gave way to a bleak skyline in the distance, it felt safe for the first time in a long time
I just feel really comfortable watching your videos, it's a escape from real life, to a corner of the internet.
That’s all I want man thank you
Im aware this video was made a bit over a year ago but it really hit my heart, good job :)
I felt happy and excited when i saw the notification of a new video, dark souls is one of my fav games of all times, i literally went to dig out my old Xbox 360 and launched dark souls, so much memories, thank you for reminding me of the 100 hours i spent through this game, truly a great video
thank you bro! and dude I feel you on that ds1 might be my fave game of all time I haven't had a experience like it since playing it
To be honest man. It changed mine too, dark souls 3 was the game that hooked me in and has honestly, as strange as it sounds. Has been a huge comfort in my life
4:24 "I couldn't have been happier." Made me burst out laughing. God I love this channel
You 🤝 Me
Having the same first Dark Souls experience.
I saw this on my recommended and almost skipped it then saw it was internet pitstop and clicked on it instantly. Keep going bro. You’re a hidden gem.
Nicest youtube comment ive ever read
@@laserbazooka3759 this channel oozes nice vibes, it made me be this nice
WOAH! I played Dark Souls 1 on a Switch with major joycon drift my first playthrough as well. Pretty sick coincidence
when life doesn’t give you anything to make lemonade with, you play dark souls. thank you, brother ❤
This video is like a bonfire in Lordran - always waiting there for wayward souls needing a place to rest
This guy feels like a long lost best friend that did everything with you
Hello, this is the Universe. I just wanted to say that you are doing a great job.
You are real!
Ayyyy this a surprise I didn't expect video so soon hell yea brother
It's beyond cool to see the channel's growth. In a weird way, your content validates me, y'know?
We've got the same interests and tastes, humor, we're a similar age, same outlook on work LMAO, and you're fly as fuck.
Nothing but the best wishes for you man, take it easy.
Dude thank you so much I’m sure we’d be good friends in person since we have so many similarities
Dude that’s awesome to hear ! Glad you played the series!
The most precious gem found in 2022 is this channel, thank you very much for your work. Hugs from Brazil
bro exactly! souls games really are my comfort games which to some really throws em off lol
man i thank the recommended section for finding this gem, i havent played darksouls 1 in a while but i really love it
There's this unique yet welcoming loneliness that Dark Souls 1 gave you that you don't get (or as much) from other From's game since.
Ds2 still had it but by ds3 and bloodborne it was completely gone.
@@albertozalon8477funny you should say that, I started on ds3 and the feeling of isolation was one of the biggest things that stuck out to me
@@jt1765 your solo running in all of them so they all feel isolated. But loneliness and isolation are very different ds3 is very linear and as such you never feel true loneliness you feel isolated because the environment is hostile as hell.
@@apophisstr6719 exactly i think when you first step into heide's tower its that feeling personafied the vast ocean the ruins of the castle beneath holding on. The sound of the wavea crashing. Oddly calming.

I just watched your video on fashion in anime bro. Loved that one and I really like souls stuff too so this is sick.

Algorithm came through yesterday and I binged all your content so happy to see a new video today keep being the perfect time capsule of all my fringe interests
Much love brother
God man. You are incredible. I’m a souls veteran and these videos never get old. Falling in love with your Chanel brother ! Incredible
This video and your channel are absolute gems! You beautify described the exact feeling of playing darksouls. well in x
This channel is literally getting me through this past few days away from my family... thanks bro keep it up plz
Glad I can help brother
fuuuuuck i love this channel, just binged almost the whole catalogue in the past couple days
Thanks to the youtube algorithm for bringing me to this channel. Great video!
I became addicted to your videos man. I often see them at night to relax myself, I love the vibe and passion you show here and I hope you go far with this
That's also how I first started playing Dark Souls. That switch port hit different.
What a beautiful compliment thank you my dude
Hey man, its cool you were able to find some sort of happiness from a game, alot of shit in life can be depressing. It's a beautiful thing when you can truly escape reality even if its just for a moment.

I subbed too 🙂
Yes, Dark Souls is a very special experience...I didn't get into video games (as a book-lover) until my child had flown the coop, & by the time I was introduced to FromSoft games, I was in my mid-40's. My first was Bloodborne, which hooked me in completely and I adore this masterpiece, & I've played them all except Demon's Souls as never had the opportunity (yet.)
However, it was when I played Dark Souls Remastered in 2018 that I felt a HUGE connection to this gorgeous game world, the story, the characters and that inherent 'warmth' of the game deeply resonated with me & when I beat Gwyn and linked the Flame (as most do on their first playthrough) I sobbed like a baby, completely overwhelmed by ALL those deep emotions & felt ALL the feels 😢
I played Dark Souls blind, offline, & I fully immersed myself into the world, pondering all the tidbits of Lore I read through item-descriptions, NPC dialogue, environmental storytelling.
- wish me luck XD
As for other recommendations, I love Max Derrat's channel, where he talks in depth about Alchemy, ancient religions, philosophy etc in FromSoft games, Zullie for secrets and technical stuffs, & TheTarnishedArchaeologist for Elden Ring Lore from an Archaeologist's perspective, which is really really interesting!
PS - I'm also currently reading Berserk for the first time because of the influence this incredible manga had on Miyazaki-San & FromSoft.
Don't think I've witnessed a channel grow so fast
honestly man, your channel is great. with those golden green screen edits you already beat 99% of those other video essays channels. also the existential dread is something that a lot of people relate to, me included. i don't know how exactly but your videos really encapsulate the lo-fi, rainy day, doomer vibe.
glad you made a video on one of my favorite games ever. i remember a time where everyone on the dark souls subreddit were saying it cured their depression and gave them a means to continue in life and that's really because dark souls at its core teaches you that no matter how much you fail, you can always come back with more knowledge and beat the shit out of that challenge. you just have to keep trying and not go hollow. also i saw a post that said the only way to truly go hollow in the game is to stop playing when facing adversity, which i found very powerful.
Perfect comment my guy with dark souls is really special , thank you for the kind words ❤️
Glad to have found your channel recently, your videos are incredibly entertaining. Keep it up Internet Pitstop 👍
It’s all there and there’s always ways to improve and learn more
Those sound like sone wonderful nights
I haven't known you for long, and I don't know you personally, so I'm not sure how to really express this. But, I just want you to know that I think you're a really cool guy who I have a lot of respect for, and you're worth every minute. Thanks for deciding to do this whole TH-cam thing; I'm here to stay.
I think you’re cool too bro! Thank you for enjoying my stuff🌊
Oh hey its The King of Antarctica I see you like everywhere also like 10/10 relatable comment
This channel is growing so fast we are probably leaving the corner of the internet lol
I was thinking that too like can I even say that anymore at a certain point but idk I kinda don’t wanna lose that line yanno lol
I just did an "only pre-lit bonfire" run and the feeling of having to plan out my spells and miracles before venturing forward (and that I would only be able to level upon my return) created much more of a survival atmosphere that I really loved. It also made Firelink Shrine (in particular) that much more special and comforting.
This guy seems to hide a lot of sadness 😢
