As a Native American I can say, you can in fact shoot from the horses back like that. It is possible. We used to do it. No body did it as well as the Mongol Calvary though. The Mongolian horseback archers were insane.
I was gonna come say basically the same thing. there are many instances of horse-borne archers throughout history. I am not sure if they would stand as erect as these dudes but it is definitely a real tactical formation of cavalry. I think the first one I heard of outside of the native peoples were the Seleucid mounted archers, or maybe the Parthians. They rolled up in force, fairly heavily armored and employed hit &run tactics. The Dothraki use them, more like a tool to soften up the lines and maybe cause a break in them before they hit them with a charge, Looks cool but they'll take so many casualties that way.
The Mongols were probably the inspiration for the Dothraki in the GoT universe. They could accurately hit a target at full calvary charge from 300-350 meters away. Also, samurai were god tier horse archers. Modern entertainment doesn't highlight IRL one of their primary fighting roles was mounted range attacks.
That’s really cool! I hope in the next ep they’ll show them these comments or maybe a clip (I watched a compilation and I can’t imagine facing 50k horse-borne archers woooow)
For sure, I have to imagine that the Mongols are totally the inspiration (I mean, just look at the name they called their rulers: Khan for the Mongols, and Khal for the Dothraki.)

You should check out the "warrior horsemen of Uzbekistan" and similar. The Ottoman empire and etc had horsebows and mounted acrobatics that were incredible. And they still have people capable of doing this living over there today. The traditions have been passed down. They used to bring them to tour America where you could go and see them riding around showing the different tricks they were capable of it was insane stuff.
Yeah dragon scale is very very tough in most lore. As far as the poison thing, how much would it take to kill something that size would be the question. Also Bron needs a raise.
There are numerous civilizations that created insanely skilled horse archers including Japan. Contrary to what modern media has shown, one of the primary battle roles of a samurai was being a horse archer. Their skill and accuracy with the bow made them seem almost superhuman in battle.

“Washing the dragons…” 😂 classic
67% was passing when I went to school but I think that speech was a solid 90.
What you're saying about Bran being something different. I about how Arya left the temple. John is back from the dead "because of" a deity. The way bodies and souls work on Westeros isn't the same as on earth.
More?
The guy who comes back over and over.
Dani walking casually out of a funeral pyre.
A whole army of dead people!
Washing the dragons. Yeah, that one got me 😂
😂
The stunt men actually trained for these shots and they did stand up on the saddle. So it was really done for this episode.
Wait, did u guys forget what happened three episodes ago? House Frey is GONERS!
House Tyrell is gone too, just like the Reynes of Castemere (the story of the Reyne family that Cersei recounts to Marjory back in Season 3). They were the second wealthiest family behind the Lannisters of Casterly Rock that Tywin Lannister wiped out and took all their gold years earlier).
“Washing the Dragons…” buahaha!!!😂😂😂
Jaime is looking like that because he’s getting PTSD flashbacks to the people that the Mad King had burned alive.
There are numerous civilizations that created insanely skilled horse archers including Japan. Contrary to what modern media has shown, one of the primary battle roles of a samurai was being a horse archer. Their skill and accuracy with the bow made them seem almost superhuman in battle.
The thing I'll miss most is the nick names ya'll give the characters. I just got that you were calling house Martell O Block cos of Oberin. That is so damn funny
